  1. Should be fine with a good clean up and new seals :)
  2. Only managed to get the bonnet done before the weather went crappy. Came up pretty good- made a difference using the pad you gave me (thanks again!)- the ones that came with the polisher weren't great! Where do you get them from? Have looked on a couple of detailing websites and couldn't find them. Are they 3M? Will give it another go when I've finished breaking the 8v 8)
  3. Amazing as usual, Drew :notworthy: I really don't know how you do it! Mine looks such a state compared to yours :(

    Car Ramps

    I'd be interested :)
  5. As above- the door membrane may have come undone, or the foliage tray/seal under the scuttle may be blocked or leaking.

    Engine Mounts

May as well change them all. Pretty straight forward, although the rear mount can be fiddly. Took me less than 30 mins at a leisurely pace to change my front mount, and about an hour and a half to change the other two (did them at the same time).
  7. Defo change the oil cooler- had this on one of my valvers and it was the oil cooler seals letting in tiny amounts of coolant.
  8. 8) ... and there's you talking about getting an MGTF :camp:  Would be defo worth getting R32 bushes ont front ;)
  9. Shame it wasn't your VRT indeed! Did a Teg-R a few years ago in my standard VR6- he was so cross that after it was all over, he blazed past and proceeded to throw several bits of rubbish out of the window at me!
  10. Thanks to Shaung60 for quick delivery of centre tunnel trim + dash removal instructions that came in very handy indeed! Thanks mate!
  11. 6 screws If I remember correctly. One on each of the bottom corners either side under the little plastic covers. 2 in the top- you have to angle a screwdriver up with the handle near the steering column cowling. Once those are off and you've removed the surround, there are a couple either side that mount the clocks onto brackets- be careful not to drop these- you'll never find them again  HTH- it's actually a pretty easy job. Remember to set the steering wheel at it's lowest level.
  12. Thanks mate- I've run out of bubble wrap! Thanks for the quick payment 8)
  13. Hi Jake, glad you got the shelf fitted :) Car is looking great- loving the door mechs 8)
  14. You can still get these for a few p from VW ;)

    ECU Removal

Remove the scuttle cover (you need to prise the clips off- take your time, as it rips quite easily). Then, you need to remove the engine loom plug. It has a slider which holds it onto the ecu. Pull the slider towards you, then the plug will just pull out. You may need to prise the slider forwards with a flat head screwdiver, as they can be difficult to move if they haven't been done before. Then you're left with 2-3 cross-head screws- can't remember how many are on each side, but it's pretty obvious. Once these are undone, it should just slide off it's metal frame. A bit of manouvering is required to get it out of the scuttle. Done :) Take your time and be careful not to damage the plug pins/loom ;)
  16. Ah, the same prob as before? Thought you changed the caliper?
  17. Well done, Jake- always a relief to pass. Need a handbrake mech? ;)
  18. Thanks to you too Pete- quick payment and good comms :salute:
  19. Just give the stealers a call...
  20. Yeh, undo the bottom cowling (3 screws?) + the column adjuster (undo the nut to remove the handle). Then they just clip apart.
  21. Sorry no link to a 'How to', but you can get the seals from VW, or somewhere like Biggred will do a kit inc everything you need. Just remove the spring clip thing and the pads will come off.
  22. You can buy the battery tray from VW and have it welded in ;) It was done on mine by the previous owner.
  23. Have you checked the earths under the dash? Mine has an intermittent prob too, and I'm 99% sure it's an earth issue, just haven't got round to investigating properly.
  24. Make sure the vac pipe that goes to the back of the clocks from the engine bay (through the bulkhead) is attached both to the clocks and to the connection (t-piece?) in the engine bay.
