    Squealing?!

i was thinking about that as well - sorry for the hi-jack pal... :? basically whever you put any load on the bearing, you're making it work - the more load, the harder it's working. there's probably actually more load when holding it on the biting point as you're at the "pivot" point in the pressure plate spring's travel where it want to reutrn the most (you're also wearing the clutch plates unecessarily too!) basically you're working the bearing whever the pedal is even slightly pressed! there's no reason EVER to hold the clutch in for long periods; if you're stopped take the car out of gear, if you're on a hill put the handbrake on! really REALLY annoys me![/quote:1g9t0xgs] Only time I ever put the clutch down is to change gear, or make sure Im not in-gear when starting the car! Pete, gonna PM u mate if u don't mind! (too bad if u do, coz im gonna anyways!!) :D

    Squealing?!

Haha!! Vent that anger, Pete  When u say that, do u mean with the clutch pedal depressed all the way out of gear, or holding it at the biting point? Sorry for the hi-jack, btw!! :pale:

    Squealing?!

the bearings can start to squeal when they become very old and tired... (do you know if yours has ever had clutch/chains?) it's possible it's the tensioner pulley, but if it happens more when you play with the pedal, that only points to one thing really...[/quote:3d4hdsmr] Cheers Pete, did ask Graham when up DG last, but sod's law it decided not to play the soundtrack!! Nothing in paperwork, but I bought it with 51k so very doubtful mate... Mate, what's involved replacing a thrust bearing - clutch out job I assume??

    Squealing?!

Cheers guys - it's when pulling away tho, just as described before...only if i don't take my foot off the clutch straight away the noise lasts a little longer... There'a a definate squeaking/squealing noise, sounds belt-like. Doesn't a thrust bearing make a whirring noise when clutch is depressed?
  12. I always thought they looked like a frog...! They're certainly enjoying themselves - must be near the end of the journey!!

    Squealing?!

Think I may have the same issue here - random squeak which happens when I pull off - when the cars warmed up a bit it seems to stop doing it. If i take longer to take my foot off the clutch when pulling away the noise is prolonged. This sound familiar?
  14. Im rockin' the wind deflectors too - think they look qualiteeeeee! Nice work Matt, lookin' sweet bro!! :D Haha, are we a small band of brothers then? Not many have deflectors by the sound of it. When I saw your deflectors Dubstar, I decided on getting some there and then. So you could say you're an inspiration mate! I've been trying to remember your real name after we met, I've a rubbish memory. Thanks for the kind praise. Haha awe-inspiring yes? Nah that's cool man, appreciate comments about my car like everyone else :D It's Chris mate!
  15. Im rockin' the wind deflectors too - think they look qualiteeeeee! Nice work Matt, lookin' sweet bro!! :D
  16. I had this as my wallpaper for ages! Awesome lookin' 'rado IMO :D
  17. Good work :thumbleft: Another tip tho, which I didn't think about til it was too late and not sure if u've done it...was to sand down the marks and writing (whatever it is, ISO marks?) on the fogs and indicators...otherwise ur left with small bubbles where the film is quite thick and kinda 'bubbles' over...d'oh!
  18. H reg grey rado, de-badged grill, along the A350 heading towards Melksham today, @2.30pm!
  19. White rado in Swindon this morning, around 11am. No plate was J*** JHR, looked like it was on some standard looking bbs' so possibly a G60? Was flying round the roundabout with spoiler up too fast for me to make out a badge!
  20. Hey dude, im sometimes in Chepstow, was this wknd just gone, and should be this wknd coming up if u fancy it?
  21. Aye they're hub centrics, and they do have faggot rings on  Yeh I had warped discs on my 1st car and replaced em which sorted it, just this didn't happen before the new wheels, and the discs (all round) have probably less than 1000 miles on them, aren't VAG items but Brembo's from GSF... Yeh I'll have a look for any 'empty patches' where weights may have been, but with the tracking out maybe get that sorted 1st (as it definately needs it lol), then move onto balancing? The car wouldn't pull to the left with incorrect balancing/warped discs would it?
  22. Im getting a fair amount of brake juddering through the steering wheel when travelling at 60ish+, if braking hard it doesn't seem to be as bad I've put some new wheels on recently, 16x7's, before was 15x6.5's. There is also 13mm spacers on the fronts to clear the brakes. The car is pulling to the left very noticeably, moreso driving than when braking, so obviously the tracking is pretty out, which im gonna get sorted. The wheels have been on the car 2 weeks now (But i've only driven it 3 times since then!!), so Im wondering if the tracking being slightly out could cause the juddering? Sound familiar to anyone, or more likely to be a problem with the spacers?
  23. N reg black? rado yesterday heading West on the M4 between Swindon and Chippenham, bout 10.20am!
