Midlanders Corrado River Severn Meet
g0ldf1ng3r replied to Keyo's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
oooo i could do with something like this - my original membranes are looking very tired after the doors have been on & off in the body shop not sure i can make sunday though but it would be nice to take the VR out as it is back -
thanks m8 - i am trying to be more active on here again after a tough couple of years 😄 yeah im doubting it will go over a speed bump as it is lol im thinking 5mm as dont really want to go up 10mm - anyone know if there is an average height to a speed bump? lol i now need to make a list of to-do items before i think about getting the interior back in
-
thanks dox, appreciate the input - i know the doors have both definitely been off but dont thing the rear hatch was (just the glass & trim out etc) i did figure out that the buzzing stops after a couple of minutes last night but it was virtually dark by the time i got home im doubting the body shop charged my battery though so have taken it out & put on this morning, will go from there

What do you use to troubleshoot/repair your Corrado?
g0ldf1ng3r replied to ABV-VR6's topic in Engine Bay
if any members have a matrix to do & would like a hand ive got a pretty complete guide with pics on a word doc i can email out. ive done 3 now myself & the guide really does make it easy it is also much easier to take the dash out & much less risk of braking brittle stuff -
well done! out of interest what kind of documentation did you provide? & did any of it include example sales of similar cars at around the proposed value? i ask as my VR is just back from the paint shop & i will be pursuing an agreed value for it with ardian flux - i was aiming for 19k but like your 25k idea lol
-
thanks m8, will dig in there if i need to i can get it to shut off but struggled to find a pattern to it its been in the body shop for 6 months so will charge the battery 1st as all was ok with it before it went it
-
ahhh i see - i thought you might say something along those lines. thanks i will drop the battery on charge & go from there much appreciated m8
-
yeah i know - i wasnt sure how low it would sit with the new front splitter on - think a 5mm raise on the coilovers should suffice......but i like it that low LOL
-
thanks shaun - why though out of interest?
-
oddly, my central locking now seems to be making a buzzing from the drivers rear wheel arch area in the boot - which i cant find a sequence to stop it it buzzes as soon as either lock or unlock & only seems to go off when i put ignition on anyone have any pointers before i pull the carpet out pls?
-
well it has been a long time coming but the day finally arrived, typical its bloody raining weather & work has stopped me going over it fully but initial thoughts are very good indeed - a couple of quick pics had to be posted 😄 i think i may be needing to raise the coilovers a tad though as with the Kamei X1 kit on the front splitter is kinda low lol

the planning application for my garage in front of the house got kicked out before it was even put forward for consideration - even though i had consent from neighbour's etc all i got was "we will not consider this application as it is in front of the principal elevation" thus i am going to have to go down the car port route & stay under the regs for not needing planning

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

just phone your local council planning department m8 - they were very helpful when i rang mine. as per my other post though, for a permanent structure in front of house line needs planning permission -

g0ldf1ng3r replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
unfortunately you will - any large structure development in front of the house requires planning permission - unless it was a simple 4 post & a cover setup i think i know this as i have had to submit plans for a garage 2 weeks ago - a lovely cost of £231 just to apply as well to the side or rear of the house, whilst also not going past the front line of the house, does not require planning AFAIK -
i chose KW V1's & they have been great for over 90000 miles as with most things you get what you pay for - avoid Gaz lol IIRC if you get them direct from KW i believe you can ask for a slightly softer spring rate to make the ride softer - Kevin Bacon mentioned it on here years ago im sure
-
ahhhh - ive just remembered why my price was more reasonable - i was able to get my mechanic to make the actual purchase so as HiSpec gave me trade prices it doesnt explain the huge increase but does part of it i suppose
-
that is a shame, personally i would call them back & ask for a manager to check the price again against what i paid in Nov 2016
-
shit!! thats some price increase from when i brought mine - did you tell them the price i paid? i missed your other post sorry but no i still have standard rear calipers
-
i just phoned them fendervg & the guy sorted it all out. i do recall them saying the discs were off a volvo 240 but not sure of size when sat under the 15" speedline they fill them completely - seriously i reckon there is about the thickness of a finger nail clearance between caliper edge & inner wheel give them a call m8, they were very helpful oh & ive just remembered how i heard of HiSpec - it was down to wheeler dealers program using them for new calipers for a porsche they did
-
no m8 i didnt change the master cylinder - apart from the braking parts themselves it was just the spacers & braided hoses needed in addition the pedal feel under foot changed a little & got a touch longer as they say but the actual retardation is night & day above the factory brakes, hit them hard & they really do throw you forwards if you're not holding on tight lol plus i love the bright yellow colour of them, it really pops against the blackberry body!
-
here you go m8 so, for those interested i think ive now covered all the details with HiSpec - spoke to a very helpful guy called Alex who had lots of useful info other than just product related Alex got his designer to do the template drawings so as to confirm if their Billet4 solution will fit under the 15" speedline - they have calculated they will if use a 10mm spacer they also have more options on discs & pads which we discussed in some depth & tried to ball park the difference in actual braking performance. their kit price can be brought down by using plain discs rather than grooved - a £50 saving - as such the ex-vat price for Billet 4 (anodised) kit would be £453.50 to this would need to be added hoses, pads & the spacers spacers HiSpec can do for £5 each - winner! (edit - dont buy as need hub centric) hoses, again HiSpec can do their braded hoses with the necessary banjo connector for £20.37 a side pads - choice of - EBC ultimax @ £18 - EBC Green @ £45.30 - EBC Blue @ £60 or he said 'we cant supply but i can recommend' Brembo pads from a motor factors (they use a volvo 240 pad) thus if go with plain discs & Ultimax pads the cost is coming in at £523.04 ex vat this would be in comparison to putting 'as new' refurb'd calipers on with EBC green pads & Brembo plain discs at £350 or £390 if EBC USR discs
-
having been through all the options for front brakes on my VR & having done a cost comparison i can personally recommend HiSpec 4 pot's as a much better alternative to 288's the 4 pot's are the biggest brakes you can fit under the standard 15" alloy, one of the reasons i went for them IIRC i got everything needed from HiSpec with exception of the 10mm spacers, as the ones i got from them were not hub centric. i believe i put a cost break down on my build thread but there was not too much of a price difference i can vouch for them being a cracking set of brakes & massive improvement from standard
-
yeah i was pretty pleased with it - i upped the value to £3k as well if i hadnt seen the end result of what the painter can produce i would be very worried. it is the failure promises that is the annoying part & has really let him down not much i can do really but just spoke with him & paint is due to be going on early next week also looking like monday for news on the 16v, there goes my drive out on the weekend lol
