I would reckon that it is over 2 BAR at 2000 revs. If it is less than that it should trigger the warning light and buzzer as per most other Dubs. Gavin

Andy , if you check the wires running away from the sensor you are measuring the resistance inside the ABS control unit. Ona Golf it is fixed to the inside of the back panel. Not sure where it is on a C though. Maybe in one of the quarter panels in the back?? Follow the wires and see. It would be worth disconnecting and re-connecting the ABS ECU. It might be a shitty contact? Gavin

Is it the bit with the teeth on and a 21ishmm hex that you use to adjust the belt tension? Or is it the bit that is bolted to the head? Can you read teh part number off it?? I might be able to help you with the bit on the head. I have a KR motor in the garage. Gavin

Majik, you need to get a digital voltmeter. Disconnect the earth lead at the battery and stick the meter inline and set it to read current(Amps). Look at the current drawn. assuming you have a 60Ah battery. This will produce 60A for one hour or 30A for 2 hours etc. You can work out how quick the battery will drain. If you are looking at anything more than 1/2 an Amp, ign off, something is soaking up loads of current. I'd go along the fusebox, pull the fuses one at a time and monitor the current on the meter. Make a note of what results you get with what fuse pulled. If it's not obvious which is high, post your list for us to look at. Also, are you sure the battery contacts and earths are clean? Was your battery checked out in situ or was it removed from the car. It is possible that the battery would check ok but with the load of the starter and some shitty connections it wouldn't turn the motor over. I had this a couple of weeks back on my Golf. Gavin

Blown, its just a case of having the right tools. I use long and short reach 6mm allen sockets and a 3/8 drive ratchet. It's dead easy, you need to swap between the 2 as you work your way along the manifold. You can definately do it with the engine in! The ones with ball ends make it easier too. I have a good selection of allen sockets now for jobs like this and taking the charger out. Gavin

The KR engined cars need VSAM or Kstar as they cannot be chipped in the normal sense. The fueling is purely mechanical. The timing is fixed in the ECU. The 2 litre Corrados have the 9A which has KE-motronic management. This can be chipped. The KR inlet cam is a recommended swap into a 9A. The exhaust cams are the same. You can also use a modified exhaust cam as an inlet cam. I have had one and it works pretty well IMHO. You can get one from Stealth. Or do a search and do it yourself. Gavin

The fact it goes ok on full throttle would indicate that there may be probs with the lambda probe. Not connected, bad earth etc. The wiring is very delicate and may have been damaged? When you are at WOT then the ECU stops looking at the proba and runs solely off stored maps. There is an earth under the bonnet for your gauges. It'll be brown or brown/white, not 100% sure where though. Other VWs or this generation have one on the corner of the cam cover. Have a hunt around for any that are not connected. This may also have something to do with your poor running. You could also look on http://www.vwvortex.com. Your side of the pond and it has plenty of FAQs on this kind of thing. Gavin

It does need to be a metre long, if you were to shorten it by 5cm/2inches you would start to notice the difference. I am pretty sure it goes on the top outlet at the TB. If I am wrong it'll drive really nasty. Pump after run is to cool the fuel preventing vapourlock and improve hot starting. You may have wiring problem if the pump is always on. Gavin

Andy I cannot see a stop on ETKA (like the one on a MK2 Golf). Maybe it has got some air in and needs bleeding. Or the slave cylinder has died? Gavin

The VR clutch is supposed to hold 190 hp as std as opposed to 160. In theory it will have a higher clamping force to do that. I wouldn't go pullig your own clutch before it starts slipping, even with only 216. Gavin

I have seen one on a 9A Passat. I think it is an aftermarket replacemen,t for the std Ign Amp. I haven't looked on ETKA but you can prolly use one of another VW. It won't look the same though. Gavin EDIT the part number for the original should be 191 905 351B a MK2 bit.

Mr Renshaw is very correct. The feed and return pipes on the left of the engine bay and the fuel temp switch on the right side. The FPR could leak too, where it mounts to the rail. They might just want the clips tightening or replacing. Or the hose could be perished and need cutting back a little bit. Gavin

If you fit an oil cooler, I think you'll get away without a lower temp thermostat. You will be deleting the heat exchanger as there is hardly any room for the sandwich plate and the heat exchanger. It takes a load of work off the water system, so you get lower temps anyway. Gavin

I bet they sing a different tune, if your motor gets nicked and you try to claim!! I'd get yourself summat else fitted to be safe. Even if its a transponder immobilser. That way you can use your factory fit to get in the car. Gavin

It is possible that the charger has been fettled and that chip and pulley are std. You need to confirm the state of play there first. Assuming that the timing marks are right and not off a tooth, I don't think you'll get more than a couple of horsepower. Not worth the rolling road time or the cost of a pulley to find out. If you have a chip and pulley already, then find the extra for a cam and vernier. You would notice the difference. Seriously, I have spent plenty, messing with this stuff over many years. Get what you have already going as good as it can. Horsepower claims are great down the pub. MaxPower years ago got an 8BHP increase on a 1.9 205GTI by fitting Splitfire plugs. Thing is, if the 205 had been neglected since leaving the showroom, practically any new sparkplug would have done the same thing. You really do need to make sure everything is in top shape. Plugs, leads, dissy cap and rotor. Knock sensor, clean the airfilter, make sure that it is fed with the coldest air you can. Do you have a cat? Can you legally get rid of it? To fit the pulley and set it up is a pretty complex thing. You can do it all with dial gauges and stuff or swing it on the rollers and do runs in between adjustments. All costly in terms of time. You would do better by using optimax and then advancing the timing with the dissy a bit at a time until you hear pinking. Then back it off again til it stops. DISCLAIMER. The above is all just my opinion. :roll: Hopefully no one will take offence and have a go at me. :lol: Gavin In fact spend your pulley money on a headlight loom, so you can go faster at night! 8)

Welcome to the forum Gareth. I'd save your cash for a chip and pulley following the obligatory charger rebuild. You are unlikely to gain much if anything from fitting a vernier on it's own. Gavin

My 2 pence. I rate the 539s highly in the dry and wet on my G60 Golf. Michelin Exalto is another top tyre both wet and dry. I have used both on the track, to good effect too. Roundabouts are twitchy in the wet, due to the suspension, rollbars nand diesel!! I have Toyos on my MK3 and they seem pretty good. But the car is not as stiff in the suspesion dept, so feels quite different. Gavin

They were widened RMs. We gto them within 2 minutes of getting there on the saturday morning. The fella had a Monza Blue 16V and was parked 2 cars up from us. Good money at 350 Gavin
