  1. Many thanks for that. I will be filing very carefully over the festive season
  2. Thanks for the advice so far. When you talk about filing down the shoulder a few mm which part of the arm is this? As you say with fairly new arms you would expect the springs to be strong but I sensed when the blades were at 45 degrees on the screen the curvature of the aero wipers seemed to offset the downward pressure from the arm.
  3. The passenger side is over 1cm adrift of the screen whilst the drivers side is almost touching but as mentioned before when in resting position both arms just about touch the screen
  4. OK so this morning I checked the following. Took the wipers off to see how close the blades touch the windscreen and both drivers side and passenger side were just touching the screen. Undid the passenger side bolt, cleaned up and re-attached. However the same non-clearing problem on the passenger side persists. It's very clear to see when you switch the ignition off with the wipers at 45% on the screen. Drivers side touches all along the wiper, passenger side has a clear gap in the middle. I attach photos showing how the passenger side arm is attached much higher up the bolt than the drivers side. Is this normal? I assume I need to adjust the passenger side bolt (it would be good to drop this a few mm) - again is that possible and if so how. I'm no diy expert so I need all the help I can get!
  5. Thanks guys for the advice. I will look at both aspects this weekend. Hopefully the wife will then be able to see where I'm going!
  6. I'm finally trying to get the issue with the passenger side wiper sorted now that the car is seeing regularly use. The drivers side wiper works fine, the problem is the passenger side. I've got the 21 inch wiper on the passenger side and I reckon only the outer 2 inches either end actually clear the screen. This leaves the middle 15 inches not doing anything:( The design of aero wipers look to have a natural curve in them and the Bosch aero wipers appear to fit perfectly. I've tried bending the wiper arm but this doesn't seem to help too much - maybe see slight gains. I'm scared if I bend it too much the arm will snap. Any ideas? Btw - I've tried swapping blades and this doesn't help. ie: 21 inch on drivers side then works fine but I get the same big gap with the 18 inch blade on passenger side. I sometimes wonder if the replacement windscreen fitted 4 years ago appears too flat on the passenger side but I'm sure this can't be the case.
  7. I fondly remember my first VW Corrado 1.8 16v bought in 1995. I'd saved up for over a year and moving up from a Fiesta 1.1L I felt like I'd hit the big time, especially as I was only 24.
  8. The cams were fitted today. Vince and his team did an excellent job. Just drove 80 miles back down the M40. What can I tell you so far? The engine feels more refined - a very smooth power delivery. I'll be doing quite a few miles over Xmas so we will report back on any other findings
  9. Going to Stealth in a few weeks to get the 263 cams fitted. Strange thing is I've owned a BMC CDA for over 2 years now and never got round to getting it fitted. Might give Vince a ring to see if he can fit at the same time. I just have fears the journey back down the M40 will be a lot louder at cruising speed:(
  10. New daily being picked up on Saturday. Will need to get some photos of the Corrado alongside the new motor. Looking forward to enjoying 385hp on tap:)
  11. The dealer at Porsche Mid Sussex was very impressed when I turned up in the Storm. It obviously worked as I'm going back there next Saturday to pick up the new daily with 385hp on tap:)
  12. I was reading the dimensions of the new Mk3 Mini today. Length 3,821mm, width 1,727mm, height 1,414mm. Corrado measures length 4,048mm, width 1,674mm, height 1,318mm. More maxi than mini me-thinks!
  13. Just called Vince. My cams are in:) Now need to sort out a week-day to travel up the M40 to get them fitted.
  14. Great pictures of some great cars. Will make sure this gets marked on the calendar next year so I'm not double booked
  15. Currently have a 2011 VW Scirocco 2.0 GTi from the company car pool. Giving it back in Feb by which time I plan to empty the piggy bank and buy a......
  16. Hi Matt, have you got any left? If so I'd like one. Please PM with all your details. Thanks
  17. Having re-activated the Storm 2 months ago I've yet to get any new photos of the car. It's had a full service at The Phirm, 2 new Continental tyres fitted, it's passed 144,000 miles and it's now waiting for the call from Vince at Stealth to go and have the 263 cams fitted. I'm merely writing this now so I can find this thread a little more easily the next time I update it with some more interesting things to say.
  18. Have to 100% disagree. My VR6 is excellent in the snow and ice. A few years ago when the M40 near High Wycombe was a car park full of BMW's and Mercs going nowhere my Corrado carried on regardless
  19. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&productId=927739&catalogId=10151 Hopefully this link works. It says it can switch to a green display
  20. I'm currently running a Scirocco 2.0 GTi as a daily having previously had a MK2 TT prior to going to Oz. The advantage with a new(ish) car is how much better the ventilation and noise deadening is compared to say the Corrado. The fit and finish on my Audi was better than the VW. The Scirocco has a few nasty plastics but overall it's a good car. With either the Scirocco or a coupe A5 the doors are massive so multi-storey or supermarket parking can be a tight fit.
  21. Interested to get people's thoughts on when was the best era for the Corrado. Was it when it was brand new or is it getting better with age? I really enjoyed driving my first VR6 in the late 90's as it was one of the fastest cars on the road. Today most turbo diesels can keep up or go faster and whilst we all hope it will go on to be a classic for me the jury is still out.
  22. +1. The discount being given for the fitting and mapping is well worth it:)
  23. I've phoned today, placed my order and paid. Vince says I'm only the second confirmed order. Come on guys you know you want to - deadline is 11 Oct.
  24. C5 OEM - who owns your Corrado now? It will be interesting to see how the paint looks today - ie: how long or how often you need to keep such treatments up.
