  1. check the stalks. wiper one is the most common to go. need to take it off completely and see if the connections have melted.
  2. quite possible its the fan belt/tensioner. around £20 for the belt and iirc about £12 for the tensioner. very simple job to change it so wouldnt bother with a garage but if they want a a full hours labour for it then walk away.
  3. if youre going to tax it now then dont worry about it. they wont be bothered if youre giving them money. it is of course off the road now as its not taxed, so not causing a problem, and as stated you can argue the previous owner should have done the sorn if they were to get ****ty. £80 fine is all i think for not declaring sorn. but can be crushed if its on the road.
  4. Cheers for the reply kev. So its not actually live data as such then. But still handy to be able to check.
  5. one of the polski's at work was saying something about being able to view live turbo psi whilst driving, to see if its sticking or fooked etc. his english isnt great so im a bit miffed by how he meant to do it. anyone have any clue if its part of the computer, or plug vag com in? any help at all very much appreciated, viewing one on sat.
  6. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MK2-GOLF-JETTA-LIMO-ONE-KIND-NO-RESERVE-/260740176415?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3cb5535a1f some legend actually wants it.
  7. imine is built in with the alarm/rcl it has a mind of its own sometmes but if you hold the button in for 4-5 seconds it beeps at you for a few seconds and then resets itself. dont know if its any use to you as you dont describe it as being part of anything else, but worth mentioning. good luck
  8. this is the main reason i love my old bag of. nothing like spoiling someones day in a brand new motor by sitting on their bumper when they floor it with a big grin on your face. long live old dubs.
  9. hmm i want an outside video of mine, im told it sounds pretty good but have no proof. bad times.
  10. not a bad idea to be honest. think i will check for cameras tomorrow for proof and then give it a go.
  11. thanks all for the advise. wouldnt claim off my insurance as it just wouldnt be worth it and im going to break the car anyway. just well pi$$ed off that people find this acceptable. will have a look for cctv cameras, but im not too hopeful, as jake says there is some stupid laws around. it was at a place called fosse park, lots of different shops, but was very close to the front of the shops so you never know. always good to know theres decent people in the world and a good amount of them can be found on here :)

    lock tumblers

in my exoerience they are the same just some of them have no number stamp. been a long time but i think 1 is to the left and they progress to the right as the numbers increase if that makes sense??
  13. youre not wrong but with todays standard of policing id be more likely to be done for wasting police time sadly. plus it was her passenger, not the driver, so prob wouldnt get anywhere anyway :(

    lock tumblers

my mate got a bag form under the counter for a fiver from the leics vw. if you know the numbers ill tap him up. numbered 1-4 from what i can remember.
  15. if you dont have an oil cooler it will be ok, provided you stay off boost til its warm. if you do have one id look elsewhere. i favour magnatec for its sticking properties. should be better for the charger than a regular oil in terms of cold starts.
  16. some bints passenger just slammed her door open on mine, in a shopping centre car park. i couldnt get over to the car before they had driven off. i have the number plate BJ09 XLW black a4 cab diesel, not to name and shame of course  but where do i stand, can i get anything done about it or am i screwed? left me a dent and two scratches in the paint :( chased her to the m1 and considdered a police style rear quater pit stop manouevre, but calmed down enough not to do it by then.
  17. They can also be called socket sets or dog points, might bring something up on a search? but anything with a metric thread to match the hole will do the job
  18. reshell isnt a bad idea, the hardest part is the wiring loom. other than that its basically just a case of unbloting engine mounts/top mounts and wheeling it over to the new shell. but a new shell sadly wouldnt cure running costs, but might make you like it a bit more again. theres a lad in liecs that will have a pretty spotless satin shell once he removes the r32 from it. will ask on progress next time i see him.
  19. lol, icve never hit the redline on mine, its been set higher so i dont get the back pressure. stick to the redline on the clocks. yeah i know what you mean, just have to drive like a granny til its warm. always seem to get someone giving it the big dog when its stone cold too :(
  20. not a common part to go wrong. but a loose king lead would cause it to crank but not turn over. keep an eye on it for the time being.
  21. still shouldnt be shoeing it when its cold dude, thats how to kill a charger in no time. nice and steady up to 3k. dont get me wrong i send mine to the redline in second about once every six months when the temp hits 50 to clear some crap out. 76 is your best friend with a g.
  22. lol. no, an ignition switch is a plastic housing with electrical connections inside. its screwed on to the end of the ignition barrel with one small screw. an ignition barrel is the part where the key sits in and the tumble pins allow for correct fitment with your key. could quite well just be that the tumble pins need a clean and a grease to fix your problem
  23. ignition switch and barrel are two different things, ignition switch is about £15 and worth replacing anyway as they arent the most reliable. new barrel can be retumbled to match your key yes. not sure on cost for a brand new one though.
  24. ive called mine many names but most will come under censored  its known by most as 'blob' though, its bright red and the last three on the plate are PMS bad times :(
