  1. Need to make sure its a paper gauze one to stop crap getting in the charger. I just use a k and n panel filter in the standard box and took the snorkel out. Dont believe it makes alot of difference to the charger noise, just get a bit of a roar when its sucking air through. Im sure youve heard a corsa with an induction kit on.
  2. The rsr on mine just has one socket cap in the middle of it.

    cupra brakes

thought the ibiza cupras were 305mm?? they fit as i had them on the mk2 golf.
  4. not sure what that says about the midlands, but our parts is a joke. have to speak to some muppets in derby sitting infront of a computer who seemingly have never seen a car let alone a vw, and thats ringing a leics number. so many cockups by these, cant understand how they still have a job. def putting me off buying another dub.
  5. sounds quite possible the lambda is causing the running problems. id get it set up correctly before splashing cash on random new parts.
  6. 250 miles is the standard run in. i did up to about 2500rpm for first 50 miles then up to 4000rpm for the next 200. just try and avoid giving it full throttle until youve done it.
  7. theres my something new for the day

    Metal pedal ??

tt pedals was the normal swap in my mk2 days. worth a butchers. rubbers arent brilliant on them though.
  9. dont use white grease. ptfe lubricant is what you need (i use ambersil). a good spray of it every 1k is fine.
  10. G's arent exactly low maintenance, old and highly strung engines. But when they run good, you cant not smile. Id say a late valver would be the most sensible option, but theres a few 20v turbos around which is worth considdering.
  11. Dont bother.put the pennies towards somthing that will turn up
  12. Amen. I'm in the exact same situation as you, just wished i lived closer to G-werks so I can drive in and have the charger rebuilt. Guess i'll be cycling to work for a while some time soon :( you can run a g without a charger. i use mine as my daily so couldnt have it not running. much better on petrol without the charger too.
  13. got mine back today from gwerks after 26 days :(
  14. thank fook for that. good man
  15. Think it will be the silencer box. Type "show us your engine" in the search box and you should be able to find a few g60's, but like i say most have long since been removed. Maybe a google search for the box may bring up some pics to jog your memory.
  16. Do you mean to the silencer box? The vast mojority of us take these off as they are prone to leaking and fit an rsr. Pic of what you mean would be ver helpful to help show where the problem is.
  17. As above very common faults, ignition switch is another one. When mine did this it seemingly turned out to be a bad connection at the ecu. Get the garage to check the power to pin 25, assuming its digifant 1. Open the ecu and check the two small screws inside are still in place and tight, this can cause a bad connection. Failing that take your immobiliser out, mark the cables with masking tape and write on the tape what colour cable it came from. I marked whether it came from top or bottom. Then just recconect with some 2.5mm singles and choccy block. Need to solder if your keeping it off but for testing its fine.
  18. brilliant  reminds me that one of my mates admitted to taking a dump in his birds hand bag  he cant remember doing it, but somehow they are still together. no dog to blame it on either
  19. can see both sides of the case really. yeah top gear own the stig, but not the man inside the suit. (he probably does have some good stories to tell too) if he really wants to ruin the mystery then let him and replace him with a new stig, not the first stig and im sure he wont be the last. plus with our new found american ways im sure the bbc can find a no win no fee lawyer for damages
  20. a very informative thread. i want to learn to spray so good to know things like this. i strongly believe bringing out a new reg every 6 months hasnt helped with what people believe to be old. thankfully im stuck in the past and much prefer "old bangers" to 99% of new cars.
  21. long time since i played with one, the last time was when someone tried to nick my mk2 and snapped it. from what i can remember there isnt alot to them and nothing major that will be hard to put back together, doesnt need to come off to grease it really. spray can will do the job. but having said that you may be aswell to replace it for peace of mind, they are on egay for about £18 from partsdepot_uk would be wise to double check part numbers though, im not a vr owner.
  22. steering lock does what it says on the tin boss, nothing to do with ignition. time to get start pulling it to pieces then.
