  1. started knocking tonight after work, im thinking bearing is kaput. but open to suggestions. had a good poke round nothing seems loose. fairly convinced the noise is from the charger, seem to be able to feel it knocking too. alternater belt isnt as tight as it could be. last serviced 2006 and hasnt covered many miles to be fair. always lube it up with ptfe too.
  2. Video of idle would be helpful. Mine was hunting quickly, turned out to be inlet mani gasket. Was found by a smoke test, but prob cheaper to just replace the gasket if youre spanner friendly
  3. 205 in my opinion. I run 195 50 15 on my 7.5j, you could get away with them but im not a big fan of stretching tyres. Depends on the brand of tyres too, some have chunky sidewalls and some are skinny.
  4. Hate to do it but c488ado has to be mentioned. Its only for a gearnob but i bought it in jan i think, in may he said he would sort it but still nothing. People seem to think hes a good bloke and he prob is. Just seemingly not such a good seller. Not bothered about the money just the principal.
  5. yeah im so glad its running again. gave it a good telling off against an audi a5
  6. well it turns out there was nothing wrong with it. the chap did his fault finding on the wire, fault near to ecu. had a look at the loom nothing wrong, cracked open ecu, nothing wrong. plugged it back in. tried the key and it started. bloody car :(
  7. Cheers dude, turns out i dont need a new one now but good to know.
  8. As per title specific or can i nick one off another model? Golf maybe? Cheers jim
  9. leave the chav alone you bullies

  11. bit of an odd question but did you manage to lacquer it? when we did the mk2 vr6 in matt black, couldnt get anthing to take to it. matt paint seems to lift easily so it soon started to look a bit rough round the edges.
  12. hall sender working hooked it up to a scope to double check. first thing i did was ignition switch and ecu relay. no joy. starting to think the fuseboard itself may be the problem but got fed up with looking at it this morning so towed it to an electrical specialist :( not looking forward to the bill.
  13. Ecu doesnt need to be cracked open, just the loom that clips into it. Pain in the ass t get at. Im changing the ignition wires to mine on tues. If you happen to know of a bt engineer they have kit to find where the break is in the cable.
  14. well immob is out and still no good. no power to ecu. im stuck :(
  15. well thursday has been and gone. sadly im not any further with this. after a bit more investigating.... digifant 1 4.0 25 pin has no ignition module. digifant 1 4.3 40 pin has ignition module. mine is a 4.0 as i thought. seemingly no power reaching certain circuits of the ecu, so finger is pointing at meta m36t2 immobiliser. still unsure of damage to ecu. really have no clue on it so plan on removing the immob tomorrow, really dont want to do it but needs must.

    What is this for?

The cruise control pump thing sat about dead on that spot i seem to remember.
  17. as suggested, toe could be a factor. but ive found they tend to do it anyway, only had a fresh set two weeks ago and i can see the front scrubbing in the same place already, had my allignment redone at the same time too. they are my preferred tyre. £29 a corner i think i paid. but these are fast wearing tyres, hence why they are pretty god damn sticky. although the g60's do eat tyres pretty quick anyway no matter what you put on.
  18. he had a fair amount of kit out to be honest. should have asked more questions really but just wanted to go home after a 12 hour shift, beers and then an hour and a half wait for them to turn up. fingers firmly crossed for thursday.
  19. as far is i know he was checking for pulsing, he asked me to crank it while he was testing it. ive been given the number of a chap who is supoosed to be on the ball with g60's so going to get him out on thursday :( well gutted, hate paying people to fix things for me.
  20. alot of t1r's seem to wear like that. theres not much tread there to start with so when the car rolls in corners it soon wears out. doing well to get a year out of them to be honest. 6 onths is about all i get on the front.
  21. i didnt think there was an ignition module, but you can buy them off egay? had a barny on the phone with an auto electrician today, he was adamant there was one and wouldnt test the ecu unless it was tested. i didnt do any of the testing, broke down in a pub car park so sunk a few pints to cheers myself up. he wasnt looking for an earth on the coil, rac man said that you should be able to find an earth reading on the green cable itself. but there was nothing at all, ignition on or off and cranking. he was certain the problem is steming from the green cable, and that it would be a switch or an ignition amplifier as the most likely cause. at a push may be a broken wire. as far as im aware the coil is not getting power, so sending no spark.
  22. black cable is fine. cant get an earth reading on the green cable at all. where the hell is the ignition module then? have been told to follow back the wires to it from the coil but green striaght to ecu, black back towards fuse box...am i missing a cable?
  23. no spark to the king lead so dizzy isnt the problem. the cable sits in a sort of h braket on the furthest away side from the front of the car. on the other side of the coil you have the black cable. err pic, its the green wire behind the king lead http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4758227 followed the wire back and it goes straight to the ecu. with no sign of an ignition amplifier i guess it is the ecu thats at fault

    High-pitched whine

there pretty simple to fit to be honest, did one on my 200sx. hammer and big screwdriver to crack the plastic cap on top of the tank. spin it off (make note if which side of the the cap takes send/return, picture?). then the pump should be attached to a rail inside the tank. remove this, remove old pump. make sure you solder the living day lights out of the wires on the new pump as this is your insulation. bolt it back up and jobs a good one. shoul be able to find a write up with pics form google somewhere i imagine.
  25. you are aware the cupras arent that relaible though? turbos are renound for going pop. wastgates failing. engine management spitting its dummy out, n75 valve etc. and seat build quality isnt the best in the world, ive had a few lol. as for insurance brentacre have always done good things for me. plus you can modify anything you want provided you dont exceed your agreed bhp limit. but even that can be raised if needs be.
