  1. assume you have tried wiggling the fook out the wheel whilst trying the key? mines pretty stiff nowadays, keep meaning to grease it up. thats the only other thing id suggest really, strip it down and lube it up.
  2. yep they sure are. original part has been hardened as they tend to snap. not much fun to change them without a decent air gun.
  3. 750rpm for idle. yep just that, and the backbox is the same size as the muffler in the middle. runs a 4 branch too so that doesnt hold any noise back. dont get me wrong its not exactly quiet when youre around 5k upwards but its more than reasonable when youre in the car. the only thing which worries me is the words sports mufflers, sounds like a compromise has been made, but still should be better than mine lol.
  4. hmmm lots more silencing than mine, 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf01062010255.jpg[/attachment:16hr7bpd] 01062010256.jpg[/attachment:16hr7bpd] then just runs to back box. guess you have to have a go with a cat then and hope it works. best of luck to you.
  5. if youre confident of the results then go for it. like i said i have no idea how much a cat would reduce the noise by. not sure how development has come along on active mufflers, but they sound pretty good in theory. what do you have at the front end? poss fitting a front silencer like the early g60's had would do the trick. i still think the back box may be the part to change though, looks a bit like a jap one from the pics and they always make alot of noise.
  6. it stops water getting in through the door seals. by bending the top of the door a little bit inwards it seals better on the rubber, very old trick that has been used for years. the other way to do it is open the door put your leg against the door card and pull the top back towards you. i find you get more leverage by using the lock though.
  7. Window down, open the door, drop the door lock round to where it would be locked, close the door on that, and then bend the top of the door inwards is the method i use for door leaks. Stops a fair bit of wind noise too.
  8. No kev thankfully its just a crash, cash was offered to repair to avoind going through insurance
  9. The answer is yes it will, but very close to steering gaitor. May cause probs further down the line.

    G11 or G12

yeah g12 ++ superceeds the rest. there was issues when changing g11 i think so they changed it. "Deionized water is a type of purified water with mineral ions (salts) removed. These mineral ions include sodium, calcium, iron, copper, chloride, and bromide. Deionized water is created by taking conventional water and exposing it to electrically charged resins that attract and bind to the salts, removing them from the water. Because most of the impurities in water are mineral salts, deionized water is mostly pure, but it does still contain numerous bacteria and viruses, which have no charge and therefore are not attracted to the electrified resins." i dont bother with it though, tap water is good enough for me.
  12. if its the same as the golfs/polos etc there are two pipes that run water from the sunroof down the body and out the car. this is what id be looking at. there was a thread on it somewhere i think. maybe sunroof leak will bring it up on the search??

    G11 or G12

g12 plus plus is what they sell now. de-ionised water is what your supposed to add. vw sell flush out for the coolant system too i believe.
  14. sounds pretty loud to me too. in my experience g's always sound pretty loud when you stand right behind the exhaust and even more so when the engine is warm. i have a 2.5" which is pretty much straight through. no cat, one middle box and one back box and its quiter than yours, still not exactly quiet though. it also spits flames out on over run which keeps the inner child in me happy at night time  . i would suggest the size of the tail pipe really isnt helping matters. if you are capable of home made then id go with shrinking the size of it. never ran a cat on mine so couldnt tell you if it makes it any quiter.
  15. christ, i hope i maintain my non crashing habit. sounds like a real ball ache. si remind me never to buy anything off you. he rang his insurance straight away as apparantly its very hard to get it viewed as not being your fault if you ring second.
  16. good work, might them to watch the road after that. its a 54 plate mazda premacy tdi woth low miles, hes only really got the hump on because it was being traded in for a new motor.
  17. bugger off, theres nothing wrong with keep fit windows. worst thing is he could probably of had a really nice corrado for the amount he would of spent making it into that poop wagen :(
  18. no idea how much postage will be, pm me your adress and ill send it tomorrow and let you know. can see it being more than a nugget.
  19. nah no good. has to be exact. i can send you a bit over a metre and you can chop it down to size. just postage would do for it. (its new stuff, not used)
  20. should have explained damage a little better. his back bumper and boot took a beating. only a little chip out of the front bumper and a few scrapes of paint. the car infront had a few paint scrapes on the rear bumper and it deformed a little. (she took the cash offer).
  21. somebody thought instead of using their brakes, the back of my old mans car would do instead. this in turn shoved him into a stationary car infront to, so as you can imagine he wasnt best impressed. the chap who did it offered to pay cash for the damage and few hundred extra for not going through the insurance. the old boy turned him down and rang the insurance anyway. i think i would have taken the cash offer, just wondering what others would do in the same situation???
  22. sorry to dirty the thread, but any day of the week skyline.jpg[/attachment:20f8sa1l] miss my 200sx and regretted selling it so much. sadly i will be returning to jap at some point.
  23. Depends what car its on. The difference normally is to allow clearance for the steering rack. 9a's have different part numbers for lhd/rhd i think.
