  1. Good spot! They look very decent!
  2. Hahah... love it. I bet you've shown up quite a few quick motors in that :) Welcome to the forum!
  3. Well just in case anyone needed reminding, or a second opinion on this.. DG Autotech just removed the brand new (and groaning) Q-Drive pump from my Corrado and fitted a second hand VW unit (thanks VAG-hag!) and immediately the noises have gone away and it's working nice and quietly as it should. Buy cheap, buy twice. Never buying Q-Drive ****e again! Will be going back to ECP for a refund ASAP.
  4. Be a shame to break that. Looks like a decent car :(
  5. No need for multiple threads. Closed.
  6. Just the visuals. 250 were made in Classic Green with cream leather (a combo you could get on the Corrado anyway) and 250 in Mystic Blue with black leather, a combo you couldn't get on the Corrado unless it was a Storm. Then they were fitted with BBS Solitude wheels and had their grille painted (whereas on every other Corrado they were just black plastic). And some Storm badges - one on the rear, one on the gear tunnel surround instead of the 'Karmann' logo.
  7. You could also ask someone here in the UK to go and view a car for you, to at least screen it for you and make sure it's worth your while flying out to close the deal. People are helpful like that on here!
  8. I would strongly advise if you have any questions and you're approaching this as someone new to Corrado's, there's a good chance your question has already been discussed on the forum already as obviously the Corrado is not a new car ;) The forum search function is pretty useless but if you go to Google and search: "site:the-corrado.net " so for example: "site:the-corrado.net VR6 timing chains" You'll get a much better success rate in finding information. Of course post up any questions you may have too as folks are happy to help, but always search first :) Cheers.
  9. Welcome to the forum :) This may be of interest to you: http://wiki.the-corrado.net/the_corrado_buying_guide_checklist.html In terms of reliability, keeping these cars on the road, working on them, etc. Well you have to understand that even the newest Corrado is now approaching 20 years old. That said I've always found Corrado's to be exceptionally reliable and it's a rare day that it won't get you home or leave you stuck at the side of the road. But the flip side of that is that they benefit from preventative maintenance - regular servicing, fixing problems the second they appear.. if / when you buy one, get to know how it runs, how it behaves and the minute anything deviates from the norm (temperatures, noises, etc) investigate them immediately. Parts are, generally not too bad as the Corrado shares a lot with Golfs, Passat's of the same era however stuff specific to the Corrado is becoming difficult to find with parts being marked obsolete fairly steadily. At this point it's not impossible to keep them on the road, using parts from other models and breakers, or getting parts remanufactured but if it carries on as it is, it could get difficult in the next 5+ years. Working on them is pretty good. Earlier models (G60, 1.8 16v) have basic electronics and indeed the 1.8 has mechanical fuel injection. The VR6 is also pretty good to work on from what I understand though does have more advanced engine management than the earlier cars meaning VAGCOM diagnostics are essential when fault finding. Good luck. I'm sure we've had other members from Sweden on here.
  10. Agreed. Didn't appreciate it was draining so quickly. As Hasan says, that has to be a short.
  11. Well there's a few possibilities. The battery could just be close to death so it's not holding a charge. But I guess it could also be some kind of drain on your battery when the ignition is off. Favourites for this can be the boot light or the glove box light. Remove your parcel shelf (so you can see into the boot))and open your glovebox then close and lock / alarm the car and see if either of these items is on!
  12. My VR only primes for like half a second / a second and no more than that. And starts right away so.. Its not that which is the issue.
  13. I guess the fact that Porsche officianado's seem to look down their noses at the 996 is an advantage for everyone else who wants more affordable entry into 911 ownership. At the end of the day it's still a 911 and will be an amazing steer compared to lots of other cars. I think though, knowing the potential borkage that a bad 911 could deal out, I'd be looking to buy from a very well reputed specialist or enthusiast owner. Good luck - I'd be extremely envious if you got a 996 :)
  14. So are they a custom trimming job, or an import from the USA then as I didn't think they did half leather electric recaro's over here - cloth or leather only!
  15. I re-watched the Chris Harris video where he drove an RS200 and the original Audi Sport SWB Quattro - both the road going homoligation versions of the group B rally cars. He said that the value of a genuine SWB Quattro Sport is now into 6 figures?! Mental. http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/20931/lot/269/ (For example). A special car no doubt about it but that is crazy money.
  16. Holy thread bump. 11 years old thread?! Anyway - 17mm apparently.
  17. A bit of Googling and I stumbled across a thread that said something about the PCV being a known weak spot on the R32 and indeed there was a recall on them to replace / fix them. Wondering if you've got a faulty one? *edit* Nevermind - this is on a petrol turbo FSI engine, not the R32. Damn internet :)
  18. For those wanting to watch a bit of Wheeler Dealers, have a look on YouTube - there's loads of full episodes on there :)
  19. Didn't want to try and ruin a dream - god knows I aspire to own all sorts of stupid stuff ;) My comment was based on a discussion I had with a guy on PistonHeads a few months back after I moaned about it being really hard to get Corrado parts. He said it was a terrible situation for the Audi Quattro. I came back to him saying I couldn't believe that given how iconic the car is, and how Audi like to bring it out at any opportunity in order to sell more modern machinery, but apparently they're a total nightmare to get spares for! So it seems VAG generally are just terrible in this respect :(
  20. And if lack of parts availability drives you crazy on the Corrado, then the quattro isn't the car for you..
  21. Good to hear. Mine goes in on Wednesday for another go at sorting it out!
  22. Great to see them on the car - looking good. Be keen to see how they look with centre caps. Are you planning to lower the car at any point too? :)
  23. Amazed you sold it really, Darren - you seemed to come to a lot of shows and meets with it. What are you thinking of replacing it with?
