  1. As clumpy says, give em a ring :) But yes, the ones listed for the VR6 are indeed the ones you want for the VR6! :)
  2. Did you compare thickness of the old and new bearing shells? Wondering if you've somehow ended up with oversized ones?

    What car next?

It always interests me to read comments like that. On the verge of a large bill with my Corrado and debating if it's the right way to go, or whether it's time to move on. But seem to read more comments from folks who regret it, or come back eventually. Be interested to hear how P3rks gets on over 12/24 months.

    What car next?

Something a bit more left field - how about a Ford Mustang? :)

    What car next?

Ah - maybe my mates Elise was an S1 then, as I don't recall the seats being especially padded, nor do I remember any carpets. Would explain why it was like a prison cell in there!

    What car next?

I personally think the Elise is too compromised for daily usage - I'd only want one for a weekend car. I know people joke about me being an old man but I went for a spin in a friends Elise a few years back and I'd had enough after only 5 minutes on Coventry's ruined potholed roads.. it was excruciatingly hard. I'd also say the UR Quattro is just too old for daily use, and despite it being a 'halo' product for Audi, suffers from the same problem as the Corrado - parts availability is terrible and Audi have zero interest in supporting enthusiasts. Superb condition BMW E46 M3's would be available in your price range - sure they'd be hard to beat for daily enjoyment! Similarly some fast Audi's (e.g. higher mileage V8 RS4's) would be in your price range?
  7. They're not exactly the same, but do seem to be interchangeable!

    Noisy rad fan.

There are plastic fan 'guides' that clip into the metal radiator fan housing - I suppose it's possible one of these has broken and come loose? If it is one of these, they are still available from VW and not very expensive.

    headlight refurb

The link I posted on the first page, and which Miles has reposted!! :)
  10. Would be good to try and make it up to smaller meets like this.. hopefully will be around :)
  11. I think that's too cheap to be honest - someone will get a bargain at that price if a new rad is all it really needs to get it road worthy again. You can get a good quality Hella radiator for about £130, and it's about 3-4 hours work to fit the new one - the front end comes apart without much fuss!
  12. Good luck - you've got some extremely tough competition in the concours field, assuming you do actually want to show it and enter it at shows such as Stanford Hall. Be good to see another thoroughly cherished Corrado out there though :)
  13. The ability to just obliterate tailgater's in repmobiles is one of the reasons I'd love to turbo a VR6. Get so fed up of impatient turds who'll not only tailgate you but then hang on way past the speed limit, as if they have some point to make that their £30k 2.0 TDI 'S-Line' blandbox is so much more superior than a nearly 20 year old VW worth the same as a set of alloys on their Audi. Just to see the look on their faces as you walked away from them would be worth the money of the turbo conversion alone :)
  14. To be honest they're priced per pair so I don't *need* to limit the GB to 50 pairs, so will probably end up ordering more :)
  15. Pleased to have got your original ones returned to me as well mate.. was scared they'd get lost or something!
  16. Will get them on the car at the weekend mate and sort out some pictures then :)
  17. Very unflattering pictures here.. terrible lighting, etc etc but will hopefully give you some idea. I keep reminding myself that these are very small pieces of trim and they don't honestly need to be PERFECT replicas so long as they fit correctly! Top ones are the originals obviously.. Essentially, subject to a proper fit, I'd be happy to order these. I'll see about PM'ing everyone who expressed an interest as I'll have to take money up front (can't really afford to fork out the £400 in advance to cover the cost of the order!). Cheers.
  18. I received the prototype binnacle covers yesterday. I will try and get some pictures up tonight to get a verdict from folks! Initial impressions are reasonably positive. As you'd expect size wise they are a perfect copy as they are a 3D scanned copy. Clips and everything look good so should be a perfect fit. The minor downsides I guess are that they're printed in a white plastic and then painted black on top. The coverage isn't totally perfect but I think once they're fitted you'd struggle to see any white plastic anywhere, and for those that were not totally happy a quick coat of a gloss black plastikote or similar would do the job. The texture on the top isn't exactly the same, but again, given the size of the pieces and their location, I'd be surprised if anyone noticed. I'm building myself up to prising off my current speedo binnacle covers (because I'm worried they'll break!) and test fitting these to see how they look over the weekend, and subject to feedback on the pictures, will be looking to put an order in with the company soon. Prices look to be as I estimated - about £10/pair delivered. Further updates as I have them!

    VR6 Coolant leak

Sounds like it's going to be something around the crackpipe as Stonejag says. I recently had a little pipe that runs from the crack pipe into the oil cooler split and it was enough to bring the coolant warning light on once a week or so, depending on how many miles I was doing. Crack pipe and all those little hoses still available from VW no problems :)

    Wanted: Standard VR6 Cams

Actually if you're going along the M40 that's just as easy for me as you should be passing Warwick services. We'll provisionally say the Sunday then and PM a bit nearer to the time to sort it all out. If that doesn't work I'm virtually drowning in offers for cams so will have other options :) Cheers all.

    Wanted: Standard VR6 Cams

Sounds good, Michael :) That'd be Sunday 23rd? 25 quid seems perfectly reasonable. How far down the M6 are you going - I could get out and meet you at Corley Services which is near J3..
  22. To be honest it's nice to see the judges giving the trophy to a very clean, OEM+ type Corrado rather than something outlandish and heavily modified. Well done mate.

    Wanted: Standard VR6 Cams

I suspect there may be a bit of interest in those :) I'll probably just make a For Sale post and do it on a first come, first served.. I'll see if Goldie is willing to post, and if not, will find out about your VR cams, dox? Cheers.

    Wanted: Standard VR6 Cams

Darn :) What would you reckon you'd want for them & postage?
  25. Currently saving up for an engine rebuild, and as part of it, I've decided to dump the Schimmel cams and go back to standard. So does anyone have a set of standard VR6 cams for sale? Thanks.
