Hi folks.. Last year I ran a Group Buy for some remanufactured "speedo binnacle" trim pieces. These are the little plastic covers that fit over the two screw holes, either side of the bottom of the instrument cluster. These parts are no obsolete, so I commissioned a company to 3D scan and print new pairs, but with some small improvements in the design to make them a bit more durable as the old ones were prone to breaking. The finish isn't quite OE (not quite smooth) but you simply don't notice once they're fitted.. and either way looks much better than not having anything there at all! :) In the end we sold about 50 pairs, and I've had people asking me ever since about doing another run. I've not yet spoken to the company about another run as of yet, but figure I should gauge some interest first. So here's some pictures of what they look like when fitted: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1fJDWZF2UmyMlNuWm1kZkVWcFE/edit?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1fJDWZF2UmyVklEM2tJdjJYLVU/edit?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1fJDWZF2UmycnlncUNQMU9LY3c/edit?usp=sharing Prices to be confirmed but expect them to be in the region of £12-£13 a pair delivered. I know it's not cheap but 3D printing, sadly, still isn't cheap. Post here if you're interested so I can gauge what sorts of numbers to look into getting produced. Thanks :)

Very nice, Ron! Where abouts on Lake Garda are you staying?
-
Wonder why it would run sometimes, but not always on mine then. Must be a bad relay or something?
-
Hmmmm.... time to look into some fault finding in the system then! Thanks guys.

Pretty much that. Always used to be worth going for GPC as they'd normally have piles of desirable Corrado parts (headlights, etc etc) but I guess those days have gone.

Hmm.. the plot thickens! Be interested if other folks could see what behaviour they get with their aux pump.. I haven't tried other combinations such as starting the car, then stopping it, then putting the ignition on to see what happens with the pump, nor have I hung around long enough after stopping the car to hear if it remains running as normally when I've put the car away I let the fan run as long as it needs, then pull the battery.

Steadily building up a laundry list of jobs to tackle on my car. One of which is the aux water pump which has become quite loud in recent months. However there is a bit of a mystery. I normally disconnect my battery as the car sits in a lock-up for a couple weeks at a time between use. When I first connect the battery, and turn on the ignition for the first time, the aux water pump whirs to life and keeps on whirring. Fine. However if I don't start the car and instead turn off the ignition, and back on again, the pump doesn't come back on again. Is this normal? I was under the impression that if the ignition was on, the pump would be running (and of course if the coolant is at a certain temperature) - no ifs, no buts. So any idea? Thanks.

I don't know much about bodywork but he looks like he does some tidy work!

Those eBay ones certainly seem to be a good price. The plastic finish looks quite glossy compared to the OE one but a fair compromise given the price and the fact OE ones are obsolete!

Wow - that's some pretty substantial rot. Kudos for getting stuck in and trying to save it though!

Was just 'GKN' I think - though it has been a while and my memory is hazy :)
-
I stuck a GKN CV joint on my VR as a genuine VW one would have been something like 4x as much - done about 10-13k on it and so far, so good!

All I can say is it makes me glad we kept our own currency and never joined in with it. Not sure how it was ever going to work really as the reality is not all countries are equal in terms of their GDP, etc and therefore their overall value. Hope they can work something out for Greece - like so many of these situations, it's the average joes who are suffering right now and it's not very nice to see / hear about.
-
I read somewhere you should absolutely not use the Iron-X stuff on alloy wheels, when / if you have painted brake callipers as it can destroy the paint finish? Any truth in that?
-
Ooohhh... They are very nice indeed. Are you keeping them gold?
-
Looks like you managed to score a set of LM's? Always thought they looked super on the Corrado.
-
Excellent - thanks for sharing that news :)

Is the standard G60 FPR 3 bar mate? If so I might have one sitting in a box from my old Corrado G60.. though it's not been on a car in at least 10 years so no idea if it's in good shape or not.

Well deserved. Hope you are having a few beers to celebrate as its been hard fought getting this far!!

Legendary Jaguar test driver Norman Dewis was interviewed recently on a YouTube channel I've been watching called XCAR which has got some great features on it. The guy is fascinating and this is well worth 40 minutes of anyones time!
-
Not sure about that - pretty sure the brochure actually lists it as Blackberry Metallic.
-
Not so sure about those guys... always thought they were w-anchors myself.

Yep. Would be good to have a local GTG. Though would arguably make some sense to head over to the VW meet held in Nuneaton every Wednesday by Bally?
-
I just hope we don't have any moor like this. Wonder if VR6 motors in boats will become a new scene thing? Would hate to see impressionable young Corrado owners succumbing to pier pressure.
