you can learn to alter your driving style to get around it. Trust me, I've driven a 24 year old Derby for the past year, it cuts out every time you stop (well, it used to). I could drive it without stalling it. Try toe and heeling. blip the throttle when you're changing down. and when you're coming to a stop, drop the clutch a bit earlier, and if it stalls you'll have the momentum to bump it off again without using the starter. Mine does it more regulalry with the lightened flywheel installed, but I've learned how to drive around that too. Live Kev says, you're wasting money trying to fix it, they all do it from time to time. It's not a fault, it's "character"

Mine stalls every now and then too. but so did the other 2 VR6's I've owned.....

DO what I do on all my cars. buy some gold plated battery terminals, and some amp power connectors, and rewie the starting/charging system using heavy duty cable. Do that and you'll never have starting and ahcarging problems again (well, until your batteyr.starter or alternator dies). Make sure the gearbox earth is as close to the starter as possible, not on the gearbox mounting bracket.

have you checked the position of the throttle stop damper pot? If it's not set right, it won't catch the throttle in time, and the throttle will close fully before the ISV has time to kick in ,which means it will stall.

For the coil AND the fuel pump to be diagnosed as dodgy, I'm suspect the ignition swithc or ECU relay.
-
well, I'm afraid that's bullshit. the thread pitch is 1.25mm IIRC? so that means the threads are spaced 1.25mm apart and for one turn, it'll move 1.25mm

£8K!!! I've got about £6500 in mine, and look at the spec! would I swap it for a mint low mileage storm? would I f*ck.
-
You need a bare monimum of 3 threads. there should be at least 5 or 6 in the hub, so use them. buy some longer bolts.
-
thank f*ck for that. can someone delete this pathetic thread now please. I cna't stand to see sh1t like this on forums after somone aks a sensible question.....

The 2 oil cooler hoses are not supplied, but they are available as an extra from Samco. The other 2 spare hoses you have are for the Idle stabiliser valve, and the oil breather, both of which plumb into the air intake boot.

Mine sits at an almost constant 80. then again, I do have a brand new rad, hoses, coolant, and switch.....

The US ones have a heater in there. We don't need it.

Arse! my insurance is up for renewal next month.

I have to value it at £5000 to insure it TPFT. I can't see me ever doing more than £5000's worht of damage to it and surviving....... -
the problem is that air coming out of the top of the rad cannot easily get back to the expansion tank. as the hose actually points down slight.ly, and the offtake back up to the expansion tank is off to the side of the hose (not in line like the later golf vr6's. undo the hos clamp on the top of the rad and twist the hose so that the expasnion tank offtake is closer to the top, not poking out the side. and run the car and apply a little pressure under the hose (ie lift it up a bit) so that the offtake is the highest point (i.e so all the bubbles can get out. run it at fast idle and watch how much water (and air) comes through the ottake return hose up to the tank to see how effective the position of the hose is. I worked this out after I kept getting an air lock in the top of the rad.

I'd have drawn a comedy penis right in the middle of his bonnet.

See my "clumsy b4stard shoppers" thread from the other month........they paid out by the way, their insurance is paying £150 for the bodywork to fix it.

I'll buy another one with the £600 I saved on insurance............IF I crash..... I don't drive like invincible anyway, and I certianly don't slide it around like a knobber. It's highly unlikely I'll crash it through my own mistakes. but if I do, then I'll pay the price and it'll teach me a lesson. -

This'll make you laugh. she asked if the engine was out of a corrado storm, or just a 'normal' VR6  :? silly cow. -

never heard of anyone sueing a set of adapters before. jees, take about claim culture  only joking. what ET are they? -
I bet my non sunroofed, dark burgundy pearl 8v with grey trim and non height adjustable steering column is rarer than a storm anyway! :-P
-
Hello there Don't waste your money on a storm, they are overpriced. Buy a cheaper, but better speeced VR6 and spend the money saved on a schrick manifold and ATB diff and enjoy.

Brentacre quotrd £799.70 FC or £400 TPFT fully comp is a f*cking ripp off. if I write it off, that's my fault. I haven't got that much in the car that wouldn't be salvageable anyway.
