  1. It sounds like it just needs a damn good sprucing up. a head refresh should do nicely. bottom ends go on forever if you service them properly with good oil.
  2. Vr6's are p1ss easy to work on. there is nothing hard about them at all. and you 'll find all the help you'll ever need on this very forum if you speak to the right people. csam timing can be a bit tricky at first, but once you'd done one, it's easy. I suggest you buy one of theose little blue Peter Russecl VR6 engine manuals that come up on ebay all the time (or buy it direct from russek publications for £6.99) Everyone's gotta learn somehow you know, and that means getting stuck in. 6 years ago I'd never so much as fitted a sapre wheel, now look at what I'm up to. I'm proud as puch with what I've done with my car, and it's never even been near a garage since I bought it. These forums are fantastic for getting in touch with peopl in the know. I'd have never got mine going right without the help of others. just go for it and surprise youself.
  3. I paid £104 for those wheels off ebay, with tyres. It'd cost more than that to get them polished!! I might be selling them soon though anyway, just got some ABT 16" rims off ebay for £10.50! They were done by Rainbow polishers in West Brom apparently. Also got a 90mm front spoiler on there now too. £75 brand new from GPC, looks loads better. Yeah, the brakes are a tight fit, the weights have actually knocked one of the bleed nipple covers off! but they are alot better than 280's and much more readily avalabie now that all mk4's have them (note you need ml3 discs if you want to use them, mk4 ones are the wrong offset) Booked in for bodywork in June now too, to get that scuff on the wing done, the parking dings removed and the arches rolled.
  4. 2.9 pistons are 1mm bigger. you'd need the 2.9 TB and inlet manifold. cams are also different. and the map is also slightly different to (denoted by an AG suffixed ECU, rather than the 2.8 AB one). Get an old block and bore it out to 3.0 or 3.1 and use JE pistons. That's what I'd do if I was in the same situation.
  5. nah, change the colour. I don't want to see another burgundy corrado that's nicer than mine

Oh yes, it is! it's quite mental really. Roll on Curborough and Kames :D
  7. I too was on lawrence street in york on saturday. but I'm not young, or a lady, so it wasn't me! (and I drive aburgundy vr6, not a g60!) what's your car look like? I saw a few corrado's in york at the weekend.
  8. 288's only just fit under the speedlines (which were £104 off ebay, with tyres!). I blagged the chrome wheel bolts from tatton park for £20. Looking like a real VR6 now (alhtough a bit high at the front) Front end look much harder with the new grille on too (Can't remember who I bought it off, but cheers for that one, bargain at £60) I'll see how it drives today after finally working out why it wasn't running right (number 6 injector not opening)
  9. After seeing it on the way home from inters, I can confirm that it looks awesome on the move.

    VR6 vs 330Ci

I raced an Alpina 328i years ago in my 2.8 vr6 mk2. I kept up with it for miles, upto 140mph too, the guy didn't know what hit him, he was continuously looking in his rear view mirrior thinking "WTF is that!!" my engine died the next day though....... my black mk2, witht he 2.9 and the 6 speed could keep up with a new M3 up to 120.

I took all the plugs out to check. 1-5 were slightly red, which is normal for optimax users apparently, but number 6 looked like it'd never even been used. this made me panic, as I was thinking straight away there was no compression in number 6, but after a mate told me to check the injectors I found the fault. I unplugged them all, and tested them individually by poking them in a cup and putting 12v on them direct off the battery. number 6 wasn't opening at all. so I fitted a different one which works. I'll have it running in about an hour I reckon. no wonder it felt lumpy and a bit flat!! I'l eager to find out how it'll go on all 6 if it performs like that on 5!!! cheers for all the suggestions. and major thanks to Matt at Design dubs for all the help.
  13. phat i think that was me mate :D theyre not bbs though, theyre too much bloody money! it was on the a12 wasnt it! u got the polished speedlines havnt u? recognised from the pics of our members thing. yours is well clean! moves really well too 8) yup, that was me! I kept pulling up along side as my mate behind me was trying to take some pics. Car looks well sweet on the move. I'll post the pics up when I get them.
  14. Get a knackered 2.8 block, with a good crank, and bore it out for a 3.0 or 3.1.
  15. wash it off quick before it burns into your paint (no joke).
  16. HA! no. get another box, and take that up there. Then swap them over, and sell your knackered one on ebay.
  17. pull the fuel pump relay out. bottom right hand corner, #167
  18. just the same way. get someone to put some pressure on the pedal, whislt you crackthe bleed nipple. you should nip the nipple up befroe they reach the bottom of the travel, and certainly boefre they start bringing th pedal back up. reapeat until no more bubbles come out.
  19. for £1000 you'd get a quaife diff in there too.
  20. Another shout out for Vince at Stealth. He's the man for 02A rebuilds. You're looking at around £400 I think. That's for new seals and bearings, whatever else is worn will be extra, but don't quote me on that, ring him and check for sure. And get a proper diff put in there whislt you're at it too.
  21. There's an unmarked Impreza in York too.
  22. Ever seen an alfa SZ? it has a corrado dashboard! well, it looks similar. The alfa V6, glorious engine, shame about the built quality of the rest of the car.
