    Fast Car!

I've already got raceware studs and aheavy duty clutch. £1000 would sort the turbo. £500 would sort the intercooler and piping. Another £500 would sort the manifold and downpipe £500 for dump valve, and wastegate and all the other turbo related gubbings £500 should cover the fuelling and mapping. I can get metal head gaskets made £600 shold sort a set of roged JE pistons, and another £100 for the boring work. That's easily under £4000.
  5. The upper chain tensioner balde is a SACHS item too.

And, amusingly, it's using a rallye rear diff  that'l lastbaot 5 mintues.... as for £20k! I reckon mine will have cost me abot £8K, and I reckon I can turbo it for under £4K.
  7. elring ones are shte, you want a victor reintz one.
  8. It definitely sounds like the electric coolant run on pump to me. you could bypass the pump with a bit of pipe until you get a new one.
  9. Yep, I'm up for that, whoever organises it! and with Vince having a hand in my car I'm sure he'll try his best to make sure it records a cracking figure too.

    vr6 turbo

I must admit, I'm tempted myself....but I'd build my own kit rather than buy an off the shelf setup.
  11. http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk http://www.dutchdub.com It's all on there, but have fun trying to source the parts. I have a jetta sycnro for sale, but ChrisP off here is meant to be having it. although if he doesn't come and get it soon I'll be cutting it up. I also have a jetta syncro floorpan in the shed too. and a brand new syncro floorpan to go in my corrado.
  12. that'll work if it's still attached at the end......if it isn't, it's a toughie....
  13. The first 8v I went to look at. Spent a week trying to speak to the bloke, but it was the closest 8V I could find so I kept chasing it. Finally got some details off him and wwnet down, he'd given me the wrong adress. after much cursing I got hold of him again and found out that it was at his mates garage, about 20 miles away.... so, went there. spooted it straight away. Gave it a 5 second scan as I was walking past, got the keys off the bloke, unlocked it, looked inside (filthy and scruffy), went down the drivers side, spotted a couple of scrapes, popped the boot, noticed overspray down the left hand rear quarter. looked closer, full of filler, been painted right down one side, very badly too. Shut boot, handed keys back, "no thanks mate, I'm not interested" drove the 2,5 hours back home thoroughly p1ssed off because the guy said it was a "lovely car" and had all original paintwork and no crash damage.
  14. Can't this whole thread be binned and replaced by a single, concise FAQ that just lists the part numbers?
  15. schimdt modern line splits. 9x16ET15 on the rear 8.5x16 ET25 on the front. 8)
  16. the golf one didn't work in my mk2. but strangely it did in my previous mk2?!?!?
  17. It doesn't HAVE to be polished if you don't want it polishing. Robbo, PM me your address and I'll see what I can do.
  18. I foudn that the larger golf one hit the coolant hoses and made shifting awkward. not a problem with the corraod one. bloody awful without one.
  19. Nor, Mr C And I'm Mr H (see avatar)
  20. Idiots shouldn't be working on cars. IMO.
  21. I'm am pleased to announce that I can now offer this service. You send me £40, I'll send you a belt tensioner, fully polished, with 3 polished stainless steel mounting bolts and a new bearing fitted to the pulley (to eliminate that awful screetching). you swap them over and return yours to me so I can carry on to provide this service to others. If anyone rips me off, the service stops immediately and the person gets named and shamed on here for all to see. Your tensioner must be serviceable (i.e. the pulley not damaged). Seized bearings are acceptable, so long as the pulley or tensioner isn't damaged in any way. I also have a spare belt if you're desperate for one and can't wait for the dealers to come up with one. any spare tensioners with dead bearings gratefully accepted so I can speed up this service, as currently it'll require a 3 day turn around. PM me if you're interested. Cheers Paul
  22. certainly the best handling FWD car I've ever driven, by a LONG way.
  23. when are you putting a LIDL badge on it (with the red I of course) ? :-P
  24. Do I have to point out (YET AGAIN) that the 4WD ONLY works when traction is lost at the front wheels....therefore it's not really a loss, as it would only have been lost to wheelspin if the 4wd wasn't there. 4 motion and Syncro is NOT full time 4WD.
  25. mine still revs, but it just feels flat like it's running on 5. oh, and then I ran outof petrol! I was running around trying to get the fuel as low as possible so I could take the pump out, and ran out 2 miles away from home...
