I should finally have my C back in the next week and the first thing I plan to do is treat it to a new head unit... I had pretty much settled on a pioneer MP3 player but just spotted this unit from Kenwood - does anyone know if these are any good? I have a Kenwood in there at the moment and find the sound quality much better than my old Sony so am quite tempted...

Don't forget the 13p Jim  How do they work these figures out? Sorry to hear that it's gone this way Henny, good luck sorting the insurance out... hope you get a good deal in the end :|

the head light switch in the dash... thinking about it I'm really not all that sure now. Someone on the Seat forum was saying not to use uprated bulbs as the current to the h/l runs through the h/l switch (and apparently does on a lot of VAG cars. The C being much older I guess it might be different and if you have a loom then it may not be the case anyway - sorry I think I'm just confusing things

Had my Sigma system put in for about £300 by Ian Bannings in Guidford (sorry I know it's Surrey) They did a top quality job and only needed the car for half a day. They are also more than happy to show you how to make adjustmants when you can't be bothered to read the manual 8)

 so that'll be £60 p/h labour plus dealer priced parts.. If you are still able to change your mind about the dealer and fancy a day in Millford, Surrey, Danny is only £30 p/h and uses GSF parts so I'm guessing you could save you a fair bit of cash. Millford is just up the A3 before you get to Guildford (about 20/30 mins from Portsmouth)

I had problems with the oil pump on mine in the beggining (which was the first in a long list of problems  ) and my water pump used to "chirp" a bit when it was running cold. Best way to check if the noise is coming from there is to put a screw driver on the pump and put your ear to the other end as it will mean you can hear whats going on inside the unit. Looking in the GPC catologue a new water pump is only about £25. If it is the pump I'd be suprised if it damaged the head gasket so long as you get it sorted quickly. BTW where in Hampshire are you based as I know a good mechanic that specialises in VW's but he is based nr Godalming Good Luck with it anyway Phil

IIRC they also cause the headlight switch to burn out? Something to do with a lot of the current going to the lights runs through the switch first... appologies if this is incorrect :?

late front door cards have different grab handels and door handels (drivers with mirror controls built in), also have the window buttons on the speaker pods rather than in side of door. So I guess the split rear bench with arm rest didn't ever come in the grey blue/green cloth then :(
-
They do look cool but I think the gap at the sides looks too big - even if you get it filled in I don't think it will work too well. The lights need to big bigger to fill the aperture properly IMHO , have you thought about modifying the orriginal units to take the Bm's lighting? Also what have you done about indicators? I wouldn't put them on the inner bowls as this will mean losing the extra main beam light and ruin the night driving experience (not that it was ever great in the first place  )

 Just to get this straight.. yours is the same as mine 2.0 16V and we have the same interior cloth. Mines a later '94 and has the late spec dash and door cards and flat rear bench.. looks like you have the early door cards, dash too? and still have a flat bench - bit of an early to late cross over then I guess :? if you find 2 rear benches with arm rest in the same cloth then let me know
-
kerrinmay, same cloth as mine only yours looks cleaner... would have prefered a plain grey in mine TBH

Looks sweet mate 8) A solid foundation for a project
-
fairly certain they will fit should be able to find out on http://www.seatcupra.net HTH
-
They give free sympathy when your C breaks too  (and then want to take all your money to fix it)
-
have a look in the members gallery - you're bound to see a good selection of various inreriors. easiest way to tell Recaro's is that they have the seat lift lever on both sides of the back rest.. Hope that helps a bit
-
Damn thats bad news Henny(f'kin V dub drivers ).. best of luck getting it all sorted mate - I suppose that in the end it'll be back with you and better than before - plus you'll be able to get your RS bumper sprayed to match the car now (if you hadn't got it done already)
-
hmmm... he's used 406 headlights - wonder if my boss would notice if I swapped my C lights for my company cars lights  No really, I think it looks sh1te! Lots of hard work and finished to a high standard but what a waste of time
-
On mine you press the stalk once to turn rear wiper on (it wipes when you do this) and then press it again (it will wipe again) to turn off... maybe I was lucky with the rear wipe on mine - shame about the rest of her
-
ROFL
-
Why why why? I only hope those responsible did it as they were thinking of pedestrian safety and felt that their chavic didn't have a large enough crumple zone
-

Nice plate 8) do you still have G3 WKS (or whatever it was) too? -
They're great wheels - just a shame that they take so long to clean :(
-
Hey Del, looking good mate... still got that dent in the door then!?! Have you changed the wheels? Has to be the best colour for a C
-
early or late indicators? Early ones will just prise open (gently) and then the orange lens is easy to get to... just make sure you seal them properly otherwise they get lots of codensation and eventually green mold
