Not a Write Off :-))) and now fixed...
stormseeker replied to stormseeker's topic in General Car Chat
I was turning right at a set of lights into work, there was a car opposite me waiting to do a U turn. Thought the road behind it was clear, but pulled out straight into the path of a Mondeo, just appeared from nowhere!!!! Feel really crappy.... -
Just a slight scuff on the front bumper .... Just added an "after" shot... nice and shiny again...

The charger (whether it's a turbo-charger or a super-charger) is just a pump to get more air in the engine. Since the engine's basic job is to burn petrol to make it go, the more air you can force in the more petrol you can burn - hence more go :-)

...unless you use 0w40 Mobil 1 exclusively in your VR6 from new - then around 50,000 to 75,000 miles the oil pump pressure relief valve gets stuck open... Over the years there've been at least 3 cases documented of VR6 engines dying that way  As to the Diesel/Rattly sound - is not a tappety rattling? Or the timing chain tensioner given up?

Road Angel GPS radar/speed trap detector?
stormseeker replied to stormseeker's topic in General Car Chat
Apparently the price includes a lifetime subscription - sounds a bit too good to be true... I'll post more details when I've found out a bit more... -
The researcher I spoke to yesterday said that they've got a crew lined up on Friday (was to shoot a Lambo but it fell through at the last minute) and they'd always meant to get round to doing a piece on the Corrado ("modern classic" to use his words). Seeing as they're free on Friday, they want to try and get the Corrado piece finally sorted. He did sound genuinely knowledgable and respectful of the Corrado though, so who knows? And he said he was pleased with the postitive response he'd receieved so far from various Corrado owners. He can't say when it will go to air, as they don't know when they'll fit it in the series yet... but he will let us know as soon as they know...

Any good? A colleague with an FTO is trying to get a group buy together and reckons he can get them for £200 ish (or £230 with the Laser Detector???) (Do I remember our esteemed admin having one...???) It's either a road angel or a bel985 (which another colleague with a prelude has - it's like 90's coupe city in this office :-) )

Can't you just try the old "Hi, it's Kev here from here... " trick ???
-
There was a VW of USA product recall note about changing the matrix that told you how to do it in a Haynes manual stylee.. Basically whole dash out.... (edit: attached somewhere here...)

Top_gear: If you can get a crew to the Gaydon Heritage Motor Museum this Sunday you'll see lots of very shiny Corrados :-)

A bit off-topic, but, when the radiator pierced a pipe to the oil cooler in my old Pug 205 1.9 GTi, I only noticed when the oil light came on  Opened the bonnet and saw where the oil had gone - all over the engine  That was when it had about 80k miles on it. All I did was fix the pipe and fill up the oil again - it ran perfectly OK after that and had 127k miles on it when I sold it with no further problems!!! Who needs oil !!!

Cheesy, excellent to see something a bit different! Like others have said, not to my personal taste but good on ya all the same! I like the BMW lights, but I must admit that I think the flat front and general squareness of the C suits the stock lights. Nice one.

Well, luckily my temperamental ABS decided to work at the crucial moment this morning on t he way into work as a Muppet in a Metro(!) turned right in front of me as I went straight across a set of lights    The underpant gauge went straight to full and I managed to steer out of the way with the ABS doing it's stuff! Even with my practiced cadence braking 8) I think I would have piled into him if it wasn't for the ABS! (nice wet roads this morning). (Anyone remember the Ford advert when they first introduced ABS, with I think a Grananda swerving round a tractor? 'twas just like that !!! 8) )

Can you encase some or all of the old one in epoxy resin (like the coilpack repair :-) ) ??? just a thought. Or trawl the breakers....
-
Anyone going down to Gaydon with VAG-COM (with later OBD2 style connector)? Could do with a cheeky go to diagnose recurrent ABS problem and to check accuracy of my temp. gauge :-)
-
Hmmmm - bloke who did mine's handwriting was so bad that I took it out on the way home from the testing station  didn't look neat enough for the C !!!
-
what's the crack with the little blue stickers that MoT testing stations are starting to stick in the corner of the windscreen when you have your car tested? :? Just paving the way to have to display MoT, Insurance and Tax??? :?: :?: :?:

There's lots of useful info buried in various threads on this forum :) :D Try doing a few searches with various combinations of "storm AND VR6 AND buying" or "storm AND guide" etc. etc. etc. Also some good general VR6 buying advice and specific storm things to look for from vr6storm - have a search for his messages with "buying" etc. in them :D As for proof of genuine storm - I think VW customer service on 0800 711 811 can confirm this from the chasis number. (PS - before you ask - I was looking for a storm myself back in Feb. - hence the stormseeker bit - but none came up that weren't silly money and I bought a "storm spec." VR6 anyway that was in absolutely mint condition for reasonable money!) edit: just did a quick search myself look at these threads... to get you started :D http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewto ... orm+buying http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewto ... ight=storm buying

VR6 18 I think, but VR6 Storm 19    Anyway, whatever group it's v. expensive :(
-
No probs - before I discovered it I even posted a message "wouldn't it be a good idea if you could sort the memberlist by location" to which the answer was - "Errr, you can" -- D'oh !!! :D :) :D It's always a good idea to ask for people from your area thpugh, 'cos not everyone puts their location in their profile anyway
-
Did you know that you can sort the memberlist by location... :) :D

Maybe supplementary water circulation pump (like the VRs have) ???
