  1. Huh huh, huh, he said, huh, Beavering...
  2. pretty sure the Lindsey Porter manual only covers the 16-valve Corrado Nope. Definitely got ABV (i.e. 2.9 engine) in it :-)
  3. Hmmm, there's a lot more involved than that and there certainly aren't any optoisolators or phototransistors involved. Why would there be in a hardwired electrical circuit? No light involved. Kev Using opto couplers is a cheap & nasty (but standard!) way of doing a voltage conversion (between ISO9141 & RS-232) and safely isolating your laptop from any nasty voltages lurking around your car's loom...
  4. ETKA is a CD-ROM parts catalog for VW/AUDI. Useful because apart from the part numbers it gives you exploded diagrams like the ones above. There is no Haynes for the Corrado. There is an American manual by "Robert Bentley" (usually referred to as the Bentley manual) which although for the American variant is generally very good though pricey. There is also a "pocket mechanic" (???) book for the VR6 engine which I believe vr6storm (amongst others) has. Also there is a manual sold in Halfords for the Golf/Polo/Scirocco/Corrado by Lindsey Porter which has some useful info, but the diagrams look exactly like those from ETKA... HTH,
  5. Actually there are three !!! - in the diagram above 5 is for the temperature gauge, 6 is for the ECU and 7 is for the radiator fan.
  6. The one on the expansion tank is just for the low level. The temp sensor is in a hose somewhere... from ETKA it looks like it's round about the thermostat housing area... part no. 5
  7. Puts mine to shame... would really really like to have a shiny one (oooooooer) :D
  8. Does your fuel gauge give erratic readings too? If so might be the voltage reg. for the ins. cluster. If not, might be an earth somewhere or as you say, the sender.
  9. A problem I've noticed a few times in the past, but now has happened regularly over the past few days. VR6 starts when cold, idles at 1500rpm for 1 second then dies. Usually will start 2nd time, idle goes up to 1500rpm (sometimes more) then slowly drops to 1000ish rpm. Car feels slightly hestitant/misfiring for first few minutes of driving. Otherwise, seems OK. mpg normal, peformance normal  Any ideas?
  10. Just an update on my 80's revival I'm currently going through... 1. Seal - Seal (1991) 2. Human league - Octopus 3. Goldie - Timeless 4. Leftfield - Leftism 5. Human League - Reproduction 6. Blur - Think Tank 7. OMD - OMD 8. John Foxx - The Garden 9. The The - Infected 10. Human League - Dare/Love and Dancing 11. Freur - Doot Doot 12. Madonna - American Life
  11. Usually just opto-isolators, some resistors and a tranny.... (as in transistor not an Izzard...)
  12. Want to see proof of speedo needle off the clock   *if you die, or cause any sort of damage to anything/anyone anywhere in pursuit of my request then I want to make it clear that I am not encouraging you to break the speed limit or law at all ever. honest.

    ecotek valve

"I fitted an ecotek valve to my Corrado and I got and extra 467 BHP and 251 mpg. On the way home I found £1million and my house had been turned in to a rehabilitaion centre for large-breasted nymphonaniacs ... etc etc"
  14. Have you seen the first message in this thread? Seem pretty capable in a straight line  but personally can't comment on the handling. Presumably you're not bothered by lack of boot/back seats???

    ecotek valve

I'm confused by these ecotek valve jobbies. :? :? :? My gut instinct is that they're a load of old rubbish and the only thing they're good for is seperating you from your hard earned cash! BUT I have seen them endorsed by none other than a certain Vince of Stealth Racing, held in high regard round these parts as a man who knows a thing or two about VWs. (The Ecotek website even shows Vince with 2 ecotek valves fitted to a VR6). Has anyone actually spoken to Vince to find out the truth about these things?
  16. When it comes to the Corrado, there isn't enough wood in the world....... :? :D
  17. PANIC - remember what happened the last time you said something like that .... :D I'd buy a replacement clutch in now if I were you
  18. Excellent tip! :D Assuming they're friendly enough to do it! Several places in the US that I've used regularly seem to be playing it by the rules now, whereas before they would ship as "sample goods" etc. :(
  19. Just to clarify - although later Corrados have an OBDII style socket - the ECU/ABS actually still talks OBDI. i.e. even though the sockets are different from early to late Corrados, the electrical protocol is still the same... (I know this 'cos I bought a generic OBDII interface lead and it wouldn't talk to my C - VW then confirmed that no Corrados left the factory with OBDII compliant diagnostics.)
  20. Looks to me like a Turn2 CAI...
  21. As kevhaywaire had mentioned Neuspeed in some other thread, I was having a look around their website, and came across these power pulleys that are supposedly going to give you an extra 5HP at the wheels. (for some reason the Corrado Forum code doesn't like some characters in the neuspeed.com website's URLs so get copying & pasting if you want to look...) Now, I can see how making them lighter could do this, but they also mention "... and resizing the diameters to slow the drive speed of the alternator and power steering pump". Wonder how much they've slowed them :?: - don't fancy having a noticeable change in power steering effort, or flat batteries in winter.... edit:Looking at their dyno plots the power gain only look apparent over 5500 rpm anyway....
  22. This the kind of anti-roll bar u referring to? -> http://www.neuspeed.com/products/produc ... o&p_id=262 Cheers I would guess it was http://www.neuspeed.com/products/produc ... o&p_id=710 - "anti-sway bar" US = "anti roll bar" UK. (The one you posted = "tie bar" US = "Strut brace" UK) I think.... Looks like that URL breaks the forum posting code somehow, you might have to cut & paste for it to work....
  23. Those blue "one-per-cylinder" air filters you've got don't look very "free-flow". :D :) :D
  24. What's the difference between the blue and the red injectors??? :?: :?: :?:
