  1. Where's jamescorrado when you're looking for a reasoned argument about something important, like civil liberty?
  2. Daz, I don't really understand your question. I might add that your 'caps lock' key appears to be malfunctioning.
  3. Try and isolate the cylinder that's not firing by removing each plug lead in turn while it's running; if you remove one and there's no change then you've found your cylinder.
  4. That's definitely been discussed before. I swear it's related to the slave cylinder - maybe bleeding it would help. *EDIT* Here's a good palce to start: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7986
  5. I think he's talking about the Jubilee clip that attaches the rubbber air hose (feeding the inlet manifold) to the fuel distributor on the airbox. Just make sure it's tight and there are no splits or air leaks.
  6. *EDIT* Email sent in PM instead for fear of getting spammed to death :)
  7. I suppose it's to reduce the chance of cloning. I mean, if you have, say, a red Corrado and you want a cloned plate that will at least come through the Old Bill's check as a red Corrado, what better place to come than THE Corrado Forum. F*** BVV would do nicely! The chances of getting stopped are reduced if the 'plate matches the car it's on at least. It's true that you could see the same car in traffic, but how many Corrados do you see around? You may have to wait a while if you're looking to clone a rare-ish car. That's my guess anyway, and it's what I'd do if I was trying to avoid a congestion charge :)
  8. What size are the files? I can spare 100MB or so.
  9. Touche. Jeans are surprisingly durable. That doesn't stop me from wearing armoured trousers these days though. Some would also say that the ability to wheelie proves extra-ordinary riding ability. Not me though. Cars all have seatbelts that cost nothing to use. Maybe I couldn't afford armoured trousers the day that pic was taken after spunking £8000 I didn't have on 1046bhp/ton of two-wheeled madness. *EDIT* The DR-Z is the slowest bike I've had in quite a few years, yet it's the only one I've crashed in my 13 year riding career. Speed clearly saves lives :)
  10. The tensioners are notoriously crap and three years is a fair while regardless of mileage; my money's still on the tensioner. They're not that expensive and not that hard to change really. Is it worth a try? I would.
  11. Well, like you say, checking the timing is probably a simple place to start. There's obviously *some* ignition and *some* fuel. It's just a case of finding out which one is not doing it's job properly.

    Brake 'feel'

There isn't a standard Corrado on the planet with any feel to the brakes! I think it's normal, they're just like that :)
  13. I only get about 30-32mpg average from my 1.8 16v, which annoys me greatly since it's not that fast. 20mpg does seem excessively low though. If it's not using the fuel it must be losing the fuel. Check for leaks around the main pump housing and where the fuel pipes join in the engine bay; both places mine has leaked from in the past. It's also possible the fuel tank is damaged and leaking.
  14. Does the car running improve with increased temperature, or is it as rough as hell all the time? Could the warm-up regulator be knackered?

    whats this?

    It's a ballast resistor - a series resistance for the dim-dip headlights.
  16. Dodgy slave cylinder? Stuck going down or coming back up?
  17. Excuse me for not reading correctly. Yeah, that makes sense. So the car starts and runs, but just runs badly?
  18. Hmmmm...what was the original problem? It'd be handy if all the information relating to your running problem was kept in the same thread. I remember a thread about the distributor and Hall sender. Can you remind me what state the car is currently at? Is there fuel at the injectors, is there a spark, etc.? I'll have a look in my engine bay when it's a bit lighter outside but that 'thing' doesn't look familiar. Is it a pipe or an electrical cable? The story about the airbox not being fixed down causing bad running sounds like rubbish to me.
  19. I'd say the 1.8 16v needs to rev. The wider spread of torque makes the 2.0 16v so much easier to drive in town but it's just as happy to rev on the open road. Like stevemac says, the 2.0 is also a fair bit more frugal when it comes for fuel economy.
  20. I have a feeling the GPC prices are back-to-front. The shallow splitter is £30 and the deep splitter is £60...I think.
  21. The performance figures only tell half the story. The 2.0 16v I drove was lower geared than my 1.8 16v and it made a lot of difference to the way the car drove for day to day use. My preference would be the 2.0 16v.
  22. I'm stunned that someone would spray a Nugget Corrado blue.
  23. When I lived in Victoria, BC they were just as clueless when it came to dealing with snow as we are. I have to say I was surprised at the time.
