  1. I know that road. It's one of our regular Saturday early-morning bike routes. The first time I rode it I was at the back of a group who knew the road well - I was pretty sure I was going to crash...but I survived.
  2. Much like a trip to work in the ol' 16v I expect.
  3. Which road did that happen on? I'm interested in the bumpers and the passenger-side front wing as per the PM.
  4. I can understand the appeal of the Cayenne but it's been well-proven that they have an unbelievably limited off-road ability. The 'toff's lawn', being prety close to that limit, makes them somewhat pretentious. I've got a 20 year-old Land Rover outside that would happily school one off-road. I think for the money I'll agree with Jim and take the 911 (and a Land Rover) :)
  5. I would suggest getting your tracking checked. My Corrado felt like it was on ice during cornering on 17s with badly adjusted tracking.
  6. I believe the Aston Martin did the same 'roll-protection' thing on Fifth Gear recently.
  7. I wouldn't say I experienced less grip from the 17s, after all the tyre contact patch is larger; I can only assume that less grip is down to different tyres. Instead I found the Corrado on 17s lacked acceleration, was less willing to turn and was in general more difficult to live with. I also found that the 17-inch wheels were much more sensitive to badly aligned steering geomety.
  8. That would be the effect of the rev. limiter I expect.
  9. Hmmm...I just assumed we were talking about 15s with the 195/50 tyre question. I can't tell if they're Solitudes or not!
  10. My radiator fan has recently developed a mind of its own and will turn on and off randomly at any temperature. It'll drain the battery in three days if the car is unused. I've just disconnected it for now but I figure I'll have to fix it before next summer.
  11. How much (if you don't mind me asking)? They look spot on - a bit Solitude-esque.
  12. Provided they don't have some crazy offset you'll be fine. I use 195/50s on my standard Sebrings with no problems because they offer the best economic value. If you've been driving on 17s for a while you'll definitely notice a difference in the way the car drives on 15s....for the better in my opinion! I put my 'winter wheels' on a year ago and they haven't been off since. I sold the 17s last month.
  13. Germanplates.com for mine. Hassle-free.
  14. I'm pretty sure the driver's mirror is a legal requirement.

    oh shit

I'm sorry to hear that :( By the way, the odd full-stop wouldn't hurt.
  16. Damn it...no Swedish 'plates. My mate keeps bugging me to find him some for his Saab.
  17. That second pic is awesome Jay 8)
  18. Well apparently the KR 16v would never run on unleaded, at least that was the story back in the day. Mine's never been touched and runs fine on the cheapest fuel I can get my hands on. I have to agree with craigowl, I'll believe it when I see it proven.
  19. The Range Rover appears to be enjoying it. It'll never catch on I say!
  20. I wash my car about three times a year at most. I'm not one for a shiny car.
  21. That's the reason they're called 'accidents' I suppose, rather than 'intentionals' :). No matter how stupid the cause of an accident, people rarely go out to do themselves damage on purpose. It's the same lack of patience or brief lapses in concentration that cause incidents like the one on Friday last week, that mated my DR-Z400 with the side of a right-turning Fiat Punto and left me with a broken bike and a broken foot. Live and learn....but most importantly just 'live'.
  22. Well, I'd say a left-hooker isn't going to be worth a great deal here so if I was you I'd put the car in storage or, better still, leave it with a trust-worthy friend until next year. Especially if it's a car you're really happy with.
  23. I've just watched the Clarkson's Heaven and Hell video. If I hear that nobber rattle on about how great it is the the Aston Martin's exhaust can be heard two miles away once more, after publicly slating bikes for noisy exhausts, I'm going to put a contract out on him. Don't get me wrong, I mostly enjoy his presenting style, but he needs to think a bit more before he engages his mouth. Incidentally, has anyone seen the Heaven and Hell video? There's a nice feature about the Golf GTI.
