  1. Can anyone confirm that? I've never heard that story before.
  2. The suspense is killing me.
  3. Harsh. What a beautiful car to end up in that state.
  4. Sure about that? I don't think I've ever seen a VR6 in Storm Grey. Potentially a cool colour.
  5. I, for one, have had to perform extensively rewiring of every car I've ever owned. The worst part is some of them were less than four years old. It's pretty shocking that people who know they're useless still go ahead and cause electrical chaos in a perfectly good vehicle.
  6. Yeah, PhatVR6 posted those pics yesterday. Pretty crazy.
  7. I was close to adding mine to the list tonight as well - the first time I've driven the car since my bike crash six weeks ago. Driving back from a mate's house thinking 'damn it's slippery tonight' the back end of the car broke loose on a 90 degree left-hand bend in a village. Any faster than the 30mph I was doing and there's no way it would have been recoverable. It's likely that I'd have ended up in the side of the police traffic car parked on the opposite side of the road. If I smashed a fog light my car would probably be written off. It's not the best example!
  8. As for 'old Vauxhals' I prefer not to try it on with any of them after getting comprehensively schooled by a rusty, white, F-reg Nova that smoked like hell as it was leaving me for dead along the A47 last year. Damn it.
  9. Yay, my Corrado is that bit rarer than it used to be. Sorry :(
  10. Wow, either your brakes are considerably better than mine or my spoiler is super-fast - that's never happened to me. I never get tired of the spoiler; it's been over two years since I bought the car and I still dig it.
  11. If you've damaged the 50mm version on a bump I expect the 90mm won't last long!
  12. Is that a bad thing? Well there goes my 5.0 V8 TVR engine conversion!
  13. That car's been on eBay more times than I can remember. I'm wondering why the seller didn't even bother to open the door when he was taking the interior picture.

    NO GRIP!

Car tyres - I have a set of 16s with Zetas fitted. Marangoni don't make tyres for bikes.

    NO GRIP!

Marangoni do make some truly horrible tyres, it's true. The Zetas are not though.
  16. Wouldn't the bottom end turn freely because there are bent valves? Tough luck if that's the case. Man, I love your wheels.
  17. How cool is that?! I especially like the way you've stopped right next to a 'no stopping' sign!
  18. The obvious first move with regards to the temerature gauge would be to test/replace the temperature sender. As for the dodgy spoiler I would suggest using the search function as it's been covered a number of times in the past.

    NO GRIP!

...and you would be well within your rights. However, it doesn't mean you're correct to dismiss them as a good tyre.
  20. The inlet manifold is also different between the Golf and the Corrado KR engines. I have a feeling the clutch is different too.
  21. The headgasket could still have failed between a cylinder and a water-way, causing the cooling system to pressurise and restrict flow. A block test would prove/dis-prove that theory and, best of all, it's cheap to do. If the headgasket checks out then the problem can't be too serious and you've already replaced the most expensive components! You could try removing/replacing the thermostat on the off-chance that it's stuck closed and is preventing circulation through the radiator.
  22. I would have suggested the Lambda probe based on the comment about increased fuel consumption, but I see that's been changed. The fuel mixture richness is controlled by the differential pressure valve on the engine side of the fuel distributor - that may be worth a look. Another simple things to check is the full-load switch on the throttle body. That's about all I can think of regarding fuel mixture. The KE-Motronic system is pretty damn simple so there can't be *that* many candidates for the fault.
  23. It's unfair to suggest that an alternator should produce 14v at idle and is faulty if not. My 16v will discharge its battery if left unused for more than four days and I've read about other early Corrados that do something similar. Have you been using the car less recently?
  24. It's got to be a 1.8T or a 24v I'd say.
