Yes you can drive it back home again to repair it but it is at your own risk. Your insurance may not cover you in the event of an accident if it is deemed unroadworthy wether it has an mot or not, so there is no clear yes or no answer into the entire legality but it depends on individual circumstances. If an MOT tester tells you the car is too dangerous to drive away then that would be the first reason not to drive it. The law states you must have an MOT, but it is ultimately trumped by the current condition of the car as you can both have an unroadworthy vehicle with an MOT and a perfectly safe car without one.

I'm not really slating them, but rather the way they are trained. And if a GP threw some anti-biotics at me willy nilly for whatever reason I'd throw them right back. Although anti-biotics have there place, usually when your life is at risk, taking them whenever you think they might help is not a road you want to be going down. Anti-biotics kill bacteria in your gut, bad and good, which over time will upset the balance and set you up for a whole host of problems that your GP will know nothing about. For a mild infection I would treat it with large doses of vitamin C as it is a much safer. What i'm saying is that medicine is not an effective method of health care, it's an art of treating symptoms with medication which is not a cure by any means.

What I have found out over the past couple of years is that GP's know nothing other than to treat symptoms using whatever pharmaceutical medication is recommended unless they have gone out their way to keep up with the times and actually care about making people better. Many ailments we suffer from in the UK are likely the cause of prolonged nutritional deficiencies with Labyrinthitis commonly linked to a lack of Vitamin B12 among other things. GP's and NHS specialists alike do not focus much on nutrition and it's often the last thing they look into for obvious pharmaceutical reasons. I am quite disillusioned and demoralised with my treatment this far, there are too many financial restraints on the NHS for it to function efficiently and effectively.

Hopefully you'll get it sorted. I'm kind of in the same boat just now. MOT expired nearly 2 months ago now and due to poor health and back issues i've done very little to it. It's my only car at the moment too. Mine needs the front subframe changing along with all sorts off odd jobs before I can get it in for an MOT. Everything is seized and generally giving me grief at the moment.

Seems more logical, if you put a car in early and it fails then it should quite rightly expire your current MOT as it is not road worthy. I've never put a car in early for an MOT anyway. If it is true, I wouldn't say it's a change in the rules but rather an alteration to procedures of how the MOT databse is updated.

What that man said ^^^ When I think about it I couldn't care less about values. I doubt i'll sell mine and if I ever do it'll be because I have no choice. And even then I'd be more concerned about finding it a good home that getting top money. I love corrados, I've had Mk1, MK2 and Mk3 Golf's in various formats and they have been great. But I get bored easy. I'd never really considered a Corrado as the only one I ever wanted, the G60, was for so long outside my price range and i'll be honest kind of forgot about them. I had my early Mk3 Golf VR6 a couple of years ago but got bored and fancied a change, I developed some shameful weird itch for a classic subaru impreza turbo, so sold the Golf and immediately went and purchased one. It made alot of noise and was very fast but I felt like a d*ck driving it. I was a Colin McRae wannabe because driving this peice of turbo charged agricultural equipment normally and safely seemed an impossible task. The novelty wore off very quickly and sold it to the first person who paid me what I was due on it. Anyway the buyer of the Subaru turned up in a beautiful late VR6 Corrado, a dark silver with cream leather running porshe rims and that was me. Never looked back since. I spent weeks looking for a G60 and knew I couldn't affoard a minter but I didn't care, I just had to own one. I secured one on the cheap, and it blew up very quickly. It is a damn hard car to keep going and tests your patients many times. But when all is well and your out behind the wheel, something special happens that I just don't get with any other car. So yeah, I've relised value means nothing to me in the corrado like it did in all other cars i've owned. I thought I was striving to make the car as good as it can be so to get the best return but in reality I do it for myself and the pleasure I get from driving it. Ironically everyone round my way has an Impreza, I hate them with a passion now. When you have a car you love, how fast it goes in a straight line is irrelevant.

It's the old 'bait and switch' tactic used by these unscrupulous companies. Bending the law as far as they can go. I don't think i've ever used the same company two years in a row.

Welcome mate, In nearly 2 year and 13,000 miles I have yet to pass another Corrado on the road up here.

Hey guys, Well the MOT ran out on the 60 a few weeks ago so she is off the road now for a bit The replacement subframe I got turned out not much better than my original. Rotten in the same places after cleaning it up. I however decided to weld it as it's not really structural. Gave it a lick of paint an all is now good. Going to be purchasing new wishbones and ball joints, droplinks, ARB bushes, bearings and track rod ends shortly but money is tight the now. I've bearly worked this year due to poor health and the Corrado has certainly suffered as a result. The paint is quite bad now but aslong as I keep on top of the mechanical side of things and I can still use it i'll be happy. One of my track rod ends is seized and it's badly been needing tracked ever since I got it and has been eating through my near side tyre so i'll likely need to carefully try and cut it off with a grinder. Also need to replace my short rear flexi pipes, number plate light needs sorting, rear spoiler goes up but won't come back down, and need to relay my headlights as there just not near good enough for night time driving. And finally de-cat it and put my other G-Lader on. That's the plan anyway. -
Fitters just seem to have problems with them. Getting them in the exact position so that the outer seals fit nice and snug seems to be an issue. Also the issue with rust on the bonding surface is a problem for corrados and your everyday fitter will just bond on top of it. My advice to anyone is to have it removed first either by yourself or a professional, make sure all is well before contacting insurance company or arranging an independent fitter. Then make sure they know exactly what they are doing before letting them loose.

Dealer prices have no bearing whatsoever in terms of real value. These guys can sit on old cars for ages so no need for quick sale. By the time it has sold it will be likely be worth 10k. I can't see Wheeler Dealers having much influence on prices either.

Rebuilding them is pretty simple. If the pistons have been out for a while and/or the seals have been breached, pushing the piston right in would have pulled in all sorts of dirt and rust with them. I'd push the pistons out with the pedal, clean, inspect and re-seal. Or just replace altogether.

Hi Ben, It'll bolt up fine to the G60 but it will be missing the short extensions at the rear mounts which is no big deal as the rear wishbone bolts are the main mounting points. Also the mk2 subframe will likely be missing the bracket that holds the 'dampener', basically i big chunk of iron that reduces vibration. Also the wishbone rear mounts will likely need to use the mk2 sleeves to centralise the bush whereas the G60 has 'U' shaped lugs on the subframe to locate the bush so no need for the sleeves. So yeah it will fit, but along with the consideration of these issues. -

Hi, VW Classic Parts do them new at near 500 euro but other than that a second hand one would be your best bet. G60 and 16v subframes are identical. Took me ages to find a decent one and i still had to weld it at both front wishbone mounts. Just got round to painting it today. Flash red G60's are pretty rare last time I looked. But you've made the right choice. My one, once I'd fixed all the serious issues the previous owner failed to mention, has been one of the most reliable cars i've owned. I get bored easy and although VR6's are great, the novelty wears off quick for me whereas driving a G60 is never dull. Just be wary when driving it back and keep your ears open. Listen to the engine and how it sounds under load. Any strange rattles then can spell disaster pretty quickly. If your giving it some welly be sure not too over rev it on the down shifts as that is how most chargers die.

Like most things on television, logic is absent. Remember it's a written and scripted show, not just a random car repair. If a car hasn't got anything wrong with it, or not enough to make a worthwhile episode, they make it up, create problems that wern't originally there.
