Who makes those Lexus-style lights then? Tempest
-
Sorry to hear bristolbaron :-( That must have happened on transport within the UK, as I checked every light when they arrived from Germany. Sorry again for the delays, but yes, that's what my chasing was there for. Tempest

Both my Roccos are with HIC on a classic cars insurance, restricted mileage to 3000 each, agreed valuation (that was very important to me), and funnily enough they now have started giving NCB! Tempest

Yes, all In.Pro tail lights are legal, they all carry an E-Mark, meaning that they are legal in all EU countries. Fully smoked as in black, yeah, pretty much, well compared to FKs equivalent anyway  Tempest

Fk Clear and red rear lamps, how do i know they are genuine?
Tempest replied to oldirtybastard's topic in General Car Chat
Definitely no In.Pro logo then ... so most likely FKs, as I'm not aware of any other company selling these lights. Tempest -
Have you tried SLS Tuning over in Germany? That's where I got mine from last summer 95 Euros :-) The kit includes the Samco hoses, jubilee clips and the actual outlet piece itself (which has enormously increased in price over time, used to be around the 35 Euros mark, now in the region of 70 Euros  ) Easy to fit, once the original black box is off  Will have to take piccies of my engine bay again sometime ;-) Tempest

Just read another official letter from In.pro to a forum member on one of the German Rado forums that I hang out on. They're definitely going to sell the clear headlights with angel eyes, RRP is now at 349 Euros. Problem some of the guys are already raising is that they'd also want clear indicator and fog lights to go with it, otherwise it may look a bit odd. Tempest (watching the Germans )

Those numbers are not really of any help, as they also are printed on the In.Pro lights, basically meaning that they are just legal marks, stating these lights comply with certain EU-regulations. What stickers, if any, are on the inside of the lights? They may provide a clue ... Tempest -
They're still £126 (including postage first from Germany to me, then on to you within the UK, other countries are more expensive). As a matter of fact I do still have one set of smoked tail lights as it is :D , and they can be yours in a few days (following payment, that is ). PM me for payment details, who of you 2 is most desperate  Tempest

Which type, smoked or clear/red or clear? Tempest

OK, came across a thread on a German forum, where it was said that these lights by In.Pro should appear this summer, approx. costing 399 Euro or thereabouts. Oh well, let's see how soon these lights materialise in this country, I'm keeping my ear to the ground in Germany  Tempest

As I mentioned at the top, I'm just trying to gauge interest at this point of time, to see what numbers we can get together for a discount, if any. I'll email the guy in Germany tonight, also to get a feeling for postage. Cheers, Tempest

Sorry about that one folks  silly me; isn't it interesting, though, how a thread without the promised goods (i.e. a piccie) can attract more attention than with said picture ? Other than that, Bally's picture is pretty spot on, almost same colour as the one in my picture above  Tempest

OK folks, if anyone's interested in a rear window spoiler type thingy like the one shown in the piccie below (Rieger do these and some others), post up in here, as I should be able to get a little bit of a discount, if I work hard enough  The spoiler is attached using 2-component glue (epoxy resin), comes unpainted and hence can be painted to match the colour of your Rado using lots of special plastic primer (which you can easily do yourself, as I've already done that on items such as grille spoilers). Current price is expected to be in the region of £30 plus postage (from Germany, then on to you). Post up here or PM so I can get a feel for who's interested, and numbers. Tempest (ahem, forgot the piccie first time round  )

Watch this space ... Just need to have the numbers to get the discount ;-) Tempest

Coventry Museum of Transport has one, so does the Sinsheimer Museum over in Germany (apart from a real Concorde and the infamous Soviet copy, the Tupolev 144), both DeLoreans have a dent in the driver side door  Tempest

The last set of In.Pro lights has arrived, and I have contacted all relevant peeps, as I will be shipping them out tomorrow. All lights have been packed up, ready to go. Sorry again for the long wait to those who didn't get theirs during the first batch. For fitment infos, once again: DO NOT follow the instructions supplied with the lights, as they suggest you cut the existing loom, which you shouldn't do. Instead get some blade connectors, crimp these to the wires coming from the lights and insert them into the relevant slot on the plug attached to your existing wiring loom. Do not cut this plug off your existing loom, not even if you decide to like me never ever want to go back to the original lights  Tempest

Just having spoken to my German In.Pro supplier, he told me that In.Pro are also looking at doing some new head lights, in clear :-) Just wondering whether these might be the same ones ... No pricing details available yet. Tempest

Another picture of a general G60 engine bay, albeit a LHD US-Corrado with factory airco :-) Looks a bit out of date now that the charger is all nice and shiny since its overhaul by G-Werks. Oh well, need to get the camera out again. Tempest

Got my starter motor from GSF, too, after I tried one from my local scrappie, which lasted a whopping 3 months  I then decided to get a remanufactured one from GSF, as I didn't want to keep practising exchanging the starter mottor  I think GSF charged £75 on an exchange basis. Tempest

Would guess they're 16s, also because 16s are more popular on Rados in Germany :-) There are not that many Rados with 17" alloys that I know of. Still hoping to do a swap with a mate of mine, him getting my 17", me getting his deep-dish Dezent 16" alloys :-) Tempest

Haven't noticed any more whoosh at normal/sedated driving , but I could swear that at higher revs the G-Ladersound is a bit louder, just what I'd been told by some folk who'd already had fitted one before me. Other than that, the main reason why I fittted one was because I hated that stupid black plastic silencer box, which proved to be a nightmare to get off s well. At least overhauling the G-Lader is a bit easier now,, as removing the RS-outlet kit is a lot easier, as Darren from G-Werks confirmed :-) Tempest

Makes me smile, us fantasising about Karmann taking up production of the Rado (and I'd give a limb for them to start up production of a rust-proof Mk1 Rocco :-) ), whereas in the real world it's all about money-making, survival amongst cheaper (not necessarily better) competitors and where your customers are (Europe going down in favour of rising China ). In the harsh real world there is no room for friendly emotions just cold money-making, often simply survival, tactics, backstabbing etc. It's a shock to realise that Karmann didn't even get the contract for the Mk5 Golf Cabrio!!! That went to another Osnabrück-based company who thanks to outsourcing to cheap-labour countries were a little bit cheaper than Karmann :-( Tempest

Karmann, the beloved German coachbuilders, who all our beloved Rados came from, is in financial difficulties. Karmann wants to make 350 of its employees redundant (it was even planned to make 800 redundant!). 100 are to flow into a special retirement package, the remaining 250 will have to leave (predominantly employees that have been taken on more recently). In addition Karmann is looking at reducing the workweek from 35 to 27.5 hours with an average salary cut of 21% for the factory workers and 10% for administrative and other staff. This is to commence July 1st and tie Karmann over till approx. July 2006. The reasons are decreasing sales of their current models, the Merc CLK Cabrio, the Chrysler Crossfire and the Audi A4 Cabrio, strong Euro (given the main market for Karmann for the above cars is the US). Through the avove measures Karmann is obtaining a 15 month buffer period, after which they're hoping to get new car models in again, and can then ramp up production again following a retooling phase. Only the Osnabrück factory is affected so far by these measures. Thought you guys and gals might like to know, also in the light of a Karmann visit beginning of September (see events thread). Tempest
