OK folks, an update for those still waiting for their In.Pros. My contact in Germany got a bit of a shirty call from me today, and it turns out that he hadn't actually sent out the big parcels on the Friday, that he said he would, as he was apparently still missing part of a smoked tail light set. The parcels have now been shipped this Monday just gone, which means that in the best case the lights could turn up tomorrow, in the worst case it could be another few days till the postal service gets them across the channel and to me. The good news, I suppose is, that they have finally been shipped, as opposed to my previous phone call, where they still had to be shipped ;-) Apologies to all those still waiting, but you will still get your lights before the show season starts (which according to my agenda is the VW/Audi Indoor show at Malvern 3 Counties Showground on Sunday, April 10th - shameless plug there, as I have booked a stand especially for the Corradoforum :-) nudge, nudge, wink, wink - see Events forum for more). And just so that everyone knows what the US-spec 3rd brake light looks like again, I couldn't resist but to use as an example my US-spec Rado  Tempest

You're keeping the Rado then, provided she doesn't sqeeuk? Tempest

Would have to agree here, as that's what also made mine crack recently (as described in the general car chat forum nearly 2 weeks ago). The crack occurred in the pipe leading into the midbox. My Powerflow fitment garage rewelded and re-inforced the crossbar on the piping just ahead of the midbox, used stronger hangers in that section and towards the rear box, and hopefully that should have cured it. The system had been fitted by the previous owner (don't know who the fitting garage were, just that it would be somewhere up in Scotland, where I picked the Rado up from) approx. 2 to 3 years ago. Right, thought this website might come in handy (even though it's in Dutch, but that's no problem for me :D ), give it has a rather lareg selection and piccies of all sorts of body kit, spoiler, wing etc. options available for our beloved Rados, often even indicating the manufacturer of a given piece of kit :D http://www.corrado-club.nl/styling.php Have fun looking :D Tempest

Quick question, does the corrado g60 come with ABS?
Tempest replied to oldirtybastard's topic in General Car Chat
Yanks obviously wanted this (and loads of other things) as standard on their G60, hence my G-plate US-G60 has ABS :-) Tempest -
I have come across some rubber bump stops being fitted to German Rados where their exhaust piping was hitting the rear axle. Would this be an option for some of the Milltek systems here? Mine doesn't seem to hit the rear axle (yet). Tempest

Get a US-spec Rado, and I can guarantee you that you hardly hear anything inside, very civilised. Only during the summer when I occasionally have the window down (normally use the airco ) do I hear some pleasant popping sounds from my Milltek when shifting down. Tempest

Have one on my 8V JH-code engine in my Mk1 Rocco. More show than go, actually, as without any porting and polishing to the inlet manifold and other parts of the air intake path a Powerrohr won't provide any advantage. On the contrary, there is evidence that the ol' plastic pipe actually is better for a non-modded engine. Tempest

Let's not forget as Kev has already mentioned that that's what forums are all about, to express views of what are ultimately commercial products, i.e. made by companies that at the end of the day need to make a profit (sometimes no matter how)!! We, however, are the customers, who should enjoy freedom of speech irrespective of consequences otherwise there is something wrong (I have seen the nightmare scenario, where forums were sponsored by suppliers , mods then starting to gag members - needless to say that all went horribly pearshaped, resulting in a new forum ) So I personally, even though I run my own company, and even I have to admit to the "thick customer syndrome  ", still believe in total freedom of opinion :D Coming back to topic, apart from my recent less pleasant experience with my Milltek, I am overall still quite happy with it, even though it does use thinner gauge tubing than Powerflow (who I have compared their tubes to recently, as I have taken apart the Milltek on the Rado, and the Powerflow on my Storm Rocco). A lot also depends on the fitter, the same goes for Powerflow, where horror stories exist about bad fitment, not the product's fault perse. Tempest

Apart from his pricing being a bit too expensive for "only" FKs, plus the simply incorrect statement of having to elongate holes when trying to fit In.Pro's tail lights  Oh well, he's clearly trying to sell his lights  I had a similar situation some time ago, where a guy over in Germany produced and sold mouse mats on Ebay with pictures of Mk1 Roccos, and it happened to feature the interior of mine, as blatantly stolen from my webpages. This situation is quite clear: If someone uses your picture material without permission, you can get him for breach of copyright. If however, that person uses his own picture material, even if it's pictures from your Rado or whatever, then he's not in breach of copyright. I contacted the guy, threatened with legal action re: breach of copyright (couldn't do much legally in the sense that I also own the Mk1 Rocco) of my pictures (my website even has a copyright statement on there!), and he backed off. Didn't get much out of him though, other than a refund on the mousemat I had bought from him  In hindsight, I wish I had left the guy alone (my mousemat still has that piccie on there :-) ), as that way my Mk1 would have lived on many a mouse mat  Tempest

I'm quite happy with a guy called Richard (Ricwells Autobodies) at the Arches Estate in Coventry, he has done work on all 2 Roccos at reasonable cost. Tempest

Caramel wheel? Hmm, didn't know such a thing existed. Will have to go hunting for one of those, as my experiments with all sorts of solvents hasn't resulted in anything more than just shifting the sticky goo around :-( Tempest

OK, had a similar prob a while ago (more like a consistantly reproducable juddering at 2500 and 3000 rpm): Turned out to be my timing was 6° lagging instead of 6° BTDC !! Also check all ground connections, especially to the ECU (there was some adventurous wiring in my Rado when I got it, eg. ground cable running staright past the engine block then bolted into the engine block on the front :-( ), check all sensors (whilst checking the GND connections), take out the ECU, clean its GND connection and re-insert the ECU. Check the engine timing marks are all lined up when you check the timing, just in case the dreaded crankshaft pulley woodruff key problem has hit you. Just some ideas. Tempest

Almost. You need to compress the sprng-loaded tensioner near the alternator after having undone a bolt at that location (crap to describe without piccies, and as usual I'm at work, all the material is at home). Darren just stemmed his weight onto this spring-loaded tensioner when doing my G-Lader  Tempest

Erm, no they're not. The guy who runs that site has a bit of a reputation in Germany, not a good one, as he's been found to sell piston seals (or whatever you call the German "Kolbenführungsband") inplace of the real apex seals. Long story. Best bet over in Germany is still SLS, http://www.slstuning.de/ The other contact I have is Michael Arndt from the Corrado Scene Süd (probably see him again mid April over in Germany), who's been involved in getting FAG to produce uprated bearings for the secondary shaft (a.o. grease can cope with higher temepratures thereby increasing the safety rpm-limit to 16000 rpm). Nope, not really withoug phoning them, but Uncle Edgar very often gives a good indication, stating the non-airco ribbed v-belt costs around the €38, expect to pay £38 then  (This very often has proven true, I found when looking up prices that way). Just be lucky you haven't got the air-co version of that belt , otherwise double the cost :-( Tempest

I've just decided to approach VW MK HQ again, this time in writing, having read about the success some Germans had with approaching Customer Services over in Germany, where some folk recently had their matrix explode on them, and again got themselves in some very dangerous situations (almost always with severe damage to the C, hitting central reservations on Autobahns etc.) due to total lack of visibility. I emphasized the hazard an old non-replaced matrix forms, and its inherent potential for serious accidents possibly with major personal injury. Let's see what they say ... Tempest

There is an excellent write up with loads of piccies on a German site, that I once printed out to replace my chip, alas the site's in German. But just in case the piccies are sufficient, it's here. Tempest

 Worth a try for sure. Tempest

Over-revving on gear change (and now tighten throttle cable)
Tempest replied to Jim's topic in Engine Bay
Ah, you clearly aren't a regular then (nearly ready to go across again to order more bits, as they're right next door to where I work, deadly, I tell you), as I usually pay once the goods have arrived  Hope that cures your pedal problem. Tempest -
Could come in handy in my attempt to have mine replaced by VW as a precaution before the thing explodes. Last time I contacted them (even phoned VW HQ in MK), they just told me that my Rado wasn't on their records because it was a US-spec one, and it was too old anyway :-( Tempest

Yup, agree with JimsG60 on the carwash issue. Recently I took mine through one of those again, as following a round trip to Standsted Airport from Coventry on Tuesday including snow storm, salt, rain etc. the C was beyond a hand wash. I went for the full works, as the called it, jet wash everything, wheelarches cleaned from salty deposits, underbody wash, and subsequently through the dreaded car wash itself with hot wax (all cost me a whopping £8 for 10 minutes of "fun"), only to find myself re-washing the C that same night by hand, as a) there were still some parts left dirty, b) the hot wax had left funny stains on my bonnet (luckily the polisged off nicely). At least I didn't have to spend that much time any more handwashing the C. I know the excitement of getting a C though. Mine was up in Aberdeen, quick flight up to Aberdeen from B'ham Airport (I still remember the excitement whilst trying to eat the obligatory in-flight stale bun or whatever that was), landing at Aberdeen, meeting the seller at the arrivals gate, walking out to the car park, and there she was, all in gleaming white. Nothing compared to the excitement of flying across to Munich to buy my Mk1 Rocco, though ;-) Have fun when you collect your C! Tempest

Ah, can offer a US-G60 with ELRA ;-) Yup, would get a calendar as well :-) Already have a few piccies of mine, otherwise we could indeed wait for the start of the show season to get fresh material, so to speak. Tempest

Just called my supplier over in Germany: He's sending out parcels with lights to me tomorrow, as he was still missing one clear/red set. Sorry about this delay, but I should have all remaining lights next week, depending on how long the relevant postal systems take in both countries ;-) Tempest
