As some might already have known, I spent the weekend just gone in Germany at a mate of mine's place together with a few more Scirocco folk that I know from the German Sciroccoforum that I hang out on. Well, after a b**rd start of my journey (decided to fly, got caught on the train to the airport without a tcket, as the ticket counter had a huge queue, ticket machine doesn't take £5 notes, and I had to catch that plane  , but at least got well shirty with the ba***rd ticket inspector, and will continue by giving them grief in writing, which I'm very good at :D ), delayed flight out of B'ham leading to a missed connection from A'dam onwards to Stuttgart, running through the terminal still trying to catch the flight, and once arrived at the gate not only being told that the flight had left 2 minutes ago, but also realising that I'd lost the keys to my Rado (as there was yet another bl***dy X-ray check on the way to the gate  )  Luckily enough the keys had been found and left at the transfer desk where I had to arrange an alternative flight. Anyway, enough moaning (sh*te public transport, it just doesn't work!!), on with the fun. I drove from the airport back to mate's place in his G60-Rado :D , met up with the other gang, had lots of beer, fun and frolics, next day went to a Museum of Technology (nice 40 km trip in my mate's Audi Coupe, me at the wheel :D ), followed by a visit to a certain restaurant where I'd been once before (gorgeous waitresses shall we say  ), followed on Sunday by a VW meet. Unfortunately I did not get to drive my mate's G60 (he was planning on taking his Hornstein Scirocco cabriolet), as the bad weather forecast and subsequent heavy rainshowers made him decide to leave the Hornstein in its dry garage, and we all went in the Rado. Even though far fewer folk from my mate's Corrado club turned up 9all because of the bad weather), they still managed to get the trophy for biggest club. We'd also toyed with the idea of slapping on my UK Rado-plates onto my mate's Rado in order to get the trophy for visitor from farthest away  Anyway, some piccies of German Rados: What upset me and the others was that there were 16 trophies for Golfs, only 3 for Rados, and only 1 (in numbers: a lousy one) for Roccos  More piccies will follow :-) Tempest Edit: Pics thumbnailed ;) -dinkus

Another vote for G-Werks, as I did bother driving all the way down (3-hour trip single way) just to watch the rebuild and have lots of techie and other entertaining talk with the boys from G-Werks and PSD. On the way home I immediately noticed the improved pull even though I was taking it easy on the throttle and the revs :-) Tempest

Right, my weekend in Germnay is almost over, and I have had a chance to now play with my mate´s Audi 2.3 Coupe. OK, not as quick as my business colleague´s TQ Avant, but those 5 pots do sound great when revved: http://www.Scirocco2.de/coupe23.mpg Not only stylish now with 17" alloys, but the Coupe also handles surprisingly well: Soft supension ón wavey roads, but nice and firm on bumps, whilst holding itself onto the tarmac quite nicely in tight cornering, almost as well as a Rado. This is all with the standard suspension. The only thing I noticed is that the steering could be a bit quicker, as it took a little morre thinking ahead in tight cornering compared to our Rado. White Rados? What can I say? The one above looks stunning. I do rather like my own white US-spec Rado as well  Well said :-) Tempest

When I replaced mine, I got a used one from a Mk3 Golf (that had only been in there for 1000 km or so), then just recrimped the connectors to match the receiving end, wiring diagrams in the Bentley helped ;-) Tempest

Suggest getting the VAG original ones, as JimsG60 recently had exactly the same problem, until Stealth replaced the belts with VAG original ones, that JimsG60 brought them. Tempest

Aerial stolen - UPDATED with pics of suspect Corrado
Tempest replied to CorradoWannabe's topic in General Car Chat
Oooeeerrrr ! *putsonshadyshades* 8) Wasn't there once a theory that all owners of WHITE Corrados are drug dealers or something? I think the BBC once made that statement on their Top Gear website ... Well, that's me branded then. Anyway, sorry to hear about the seemingly minute yet nonetheless very irritating theft. It helps to take the headlight out to gain better access to the oil line at the bottom of the charger. Also take the air filter box out for access to the 4 bolts on the pulley side. Compressing the tensioner can be done by brute force (pushing down on it) or using a screw-type clamp. I just hope all your bolts come out nice and smoothly, as when I took my Rado down to Darren, 2 on the airfilter box side didn't and took 2 hours just to remove 2 bolts !!
-
Good work, Darren. Just sent my German contact to investigate his local dealer, so if more are needed, I am over in Germany visiting my mate next weekend and will collect the bolts. Tempest
-
Same with my dealer  Went there yesterday, they said they needed to order it from Germany. Let's see whether I can still get them myself over in D ... Tempest

Always, as I found to my detriment with my US-G60, ie. the one day in the year that British temperatures rise above bl***dy rainy cold weather, and it happens to be a weekend, and I happen to be driving the Rado ... lots of ifs. How about cruise control? Now that's a nice thing to have in y'r Rado :-) Tempest
-
Thanks again, Graeme, for selling me these wheels. I haven't taken the Rado out for a spin yet, and this probably won't happen either till the CCGB AGM this Sunday. Don't use my toy cars on weekdays in the daily commute ;-) Tempest

I personally don't think for a minute that the BBC are going to pull the plug on such an institution as TG. This programme also sells extremely well abroad, let's not forget that. Hence if push really came to shove for the BBC, I reckon they'd just produce it abroad where there are fewer of these tree hugger types driving around in soot-emitting old Merc diesel cars on a trip to the garden centre; same folk no doubt that spend ages each morning on their daily commute whereas it's them that could equally well walk or cycle into work like I do - it's cheaper, less environmentally damaging, and you arrive at work a lot more relaxed (compared to getting extremely annoyed with all thos b***rd traffic jams). Bet the tree huggers never thought of that, dime bar!! So, chill out folks, I reckon it's just another publicity stunt to wet viewers' appetite for the new series :-) Tempest

See my thread on a trip across to Karmann first weekend of September here So you actually spoke to Herbert Schäfer, that's pretty cool :-) Despite the anniversary of the Karmann Ghia, they're not too much in a party mood at Karmann, as I mentioned here. Tempest

Time for some new piccies, as my Rado is wearing new shoes :-) The new alloys are Momo Arrows 16J7.5 with 205/45 tyres. Tempest
-
OK, as soon as the new alloys are on (hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow), and given the weather is supposed to be good tomorrow (and hopefully a few more days after that ...). Tempest

Can't see there being a necessity for the side repeaters, as my Mk2 Storm Rocco doesn't have any, if my US-G60 had stayed original, then it wouldn't have had any (would have even passed the much more stringent German MOT!), so I would have thought that as long as the front indicators work, you should be OK. Best to check with your local MOT station first, because even I was surprised to find out how differently the government guidelines are interpreted by individual test stations! Tempest

Welcome to the forum, Bobby and congrats on your new Rado 8) That is a stunning car, as I already had the pleasure of being co-piloted in Jim's G60. Jim: I thought you were looking at something sensible and cheap to run  Anyway, if your withdrawal symptoms grow beyond control (and they will ), give me a bell, as my Rado (may not be as powerful as yours, but has its own charms and certainly a wealth of interesting toys on-board) is definitely staying with me - can't wait to fit the new alloys as and when they arrive :D Tempest
-
Definitely In.Pro, they are much darker than the FK smoked tail lights. Tempest

Wix oil filter for my G60 from my local autofactors, and Castrol 10W60 oil (as most folk in Germany do as well) :-) Tempest

No, it's not being a GT2, but Phil is running the Weber carb that graced Glen's Rocco GT back when he still had it. It is a very nice Rocco, but would need an enthusiast rather than someone who's more on the look-out for a general car like BMWs  Tempest
-
The Powerflow on my Mk2 Storm Rocco does the same, but that's because I requested that effect. It got a wee bit worse ever since I fitted a Supersprint 4-2-1 branch manifold  Definitely not suitable for an everyday car, but as my Storm no longer is an everyday car rather than a fun / weekend car, I don't mind at all. I haven't noticed any power degradation on mine, tube bore is still oem size on my entire system. Tempest
-
Full spec, as posted elsewhere by Phil: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lowered 30mm 15" fox alloys 270mm Discs Powerflow Exhaust pierburg with manual Choke K&N Filter eyebrow spoiler (not seen on photos below) clear Indicators (not seen on photos below) This also car also has Electric windows and Central locking, also has a Toad Ai606 cat 1 alarm/immob. This car is in very good condition, however there are a couple of paint blemishes on the bonnet (the laquer has lifted in a couple of places) i would personally say it needs a repray, then im a fussy bugger! And yes, that's the original paint still ! :-) Tempest

Just spotted this beauty of a Mk2 GT2 Rocco, that a mate of mine is looking at selling (if I let him ): Only wants £900, far better buy than the one above. I know this Rocco very well !! Needs a good home! Guy's called Phil, if you need contact details. PM me. Tempest

Would have to agree with Steve there, given that I 2 years ago "only" paid £1250 for my Storm with almost immaculate leather interior, NO bubbling along the doors or indeed anywhere (well, OK some slight at the rear side windows, but that was it!), new fuel filler neck, bulkhead clutch cable hole repair plate, full service history (the previous owner didn't do a lot himself, good somehow ;-) ), DX (1.8i) engine with still a healthy 12 bar compression on all pots - yes, I'll stop drooling over my Storm now . I'd shop around a little bit more TBH. Steve's comments on the carb'ed 1.8 may ruffle the odd feather or 2 with the carb'ed fan brigade (to which I don't belong), as I have noticed that Mk2 Roccos with properly set up carb'ed engines can still pull quite nicely at the lights from standstill, but may run out of steam at higher speeds (I have been forced into the odd race or 2 against a carb'd Rocco with my Storm ;-), don't do that anymore now, Storm's too precious :-) ) Tempest
