  1. ok re-did the test with igntion on second ignition and no crank. Bad earths?
  2. hmm ok no cranking on ths starter when i hook up a lead from battery + to where I connected on the starter in the pic. Battery shows 13.1v on the multimeter. Looking at the state of that nut on the starter I think perhaps a clean of all the earths will help no end... next Q where are all the earths to clean and best way is wire brush and some electrical cleaner i guess? SCRAP this - just seen I was meant to do ignition on which i haven't done (doh! Did say i am not the best at this electrical malarky)
  3. Thanks both. The spoiler does work and the battery is new / shows good voltage on the multimeter. It's been on constant trickle as well. I'm not that great at electrics but have tested for power to the starter motor and fuel pump and there is nothing on cracking/past 2nd igntion. Intially I gave up and thought it must be the Clifford however that is a recent install and I spent a good 20 mins on the phone with my local clifford guy trying a few things alarm related to no avail. He's going to come out when is convienent as I said i wasn't in a rush. I had a factory immobilier fault on another VW and that started for a second and then shut off. I ended up deleting the immobiliser chip in the ECU on that car as the keys were not original and were without transponder. I have tried wriggle the key but it didn't go and I've also wriggled the wires from ignition switch area but haven't inspected for broken clips. The battery is a VARTA B18 44ah 440. It looks smaller than what I had in my last one
  4. Hi I have a problem that I had put down to the clifford alarm and am waiting for the local alarm guy to fit me in. Thinking tonight perhaps it is ignition switch related? I havent experienced the issue before and assumed the car would crank but no spark when they fail but I could be wrong. My symptoms are - car drove off trailer and parked on my drive for a night. The following day I drove it into my garage. I disconnected the battery and left the car. Came back a few days later and I get no cranking and no fuel pump prime, actually when the issue first occurred I did get a fuel pump prime but only for a split second (less than normal) however this has since stopped. The other thing I see is that I have no mileage display until I get to 2nd ignition. I thought my last corrado had miles displayed all the time. When I pull away from 2nd ignition miles display disappears. I have dropped the fuse box down looking for loose wires but everything looks broadly stock and secured. No spliced wires at the back and no splits or loose connections. Also when turning to 2nd ignition I can feel relay 109 clicking with a finger touching the relay. Battery is on a tickle charger. Is any of that a bad ignition switch? Cheers Matt Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
  5. It looks different from behind, think I will take it off this afternoon to investigate. Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
  6. If I removed the spacer (20mm) they would hit. About a 2mm clearance as it is set up - wants 17s on there but I dont want to run with wheels that big. Stock setup would be easier, just thought if I could keep a superior stub axle I would. Probably will go back to stock then. Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
  7. Nice job on the wing and love the detail in the engine bay Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
  8. Cheers guys. Got some pics - likely to be looking to take it all off and go 288s up front and a smaller caliper/disc at the back. Perhaps retain the stubaxle and bearing setup - polo carrier and a suitable caliper has been mentioned as something that might work? Oh and some more pics to explain why I got myself into this project. Needs a lot £££££ on the body so anything I can sell on to make it more viable will save the car. Some others bits not photod - new mocal, cda, spare subframe, axle, rack for refurb. New miltek fitted. Carbon bonnet and tailgate. Fibreglass wings and the originals (need repair). Will sell on wings to pay to repair the originals with DST later this year Aim is an oem plus car with koni/h&r, ability to fit 15s, stealth fettle engine, excellent body. 9. Nice video. Perhaps you'll get another one some day? Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
  10. Saw this on another forum - warning: may waste hours of your life https://autocatalogarchive.com/index-brand/ PDF copies of dealer/manufacturer brochures for many many makes and models! Enjoy
  11. ah i see, yes that works. I'm side tracked at the moment with what I think is an alarm issue - won't start, feels like it is immobilised but I can't figure it out. Wiring behind fuse box looks tidy. It's a fairly recently installed clifford system - fuel pump primes for a split second (less than usual) and no power to starter. Dash lights up as normal. Car was working fine until i disconnected and reconnected battery. Will come back to this air con.
  12. HI, Anyone know much about these upgrades? My car came with it. There is a big receipt (£900 in parts) supporting the rear upgrade and that seems a lot of money to spend on rear brakes. Want to make a decision on what is worth keeping and getting rid of. On the rears anyone know if it is possible to fit a smaller diameter brake set up and keep whatever the benefits are - suppose any mk4 rear disc set up should fit but would they fit under a 15in speedline? At the moment I have it on 16in speedlines but it needs a 20mm+ spacer at the back to fit over the caliper and I'm not really into that - just want a fast road setup without spacers and 30mm max lowering and tyres well away from arches to avoid paint damange. It's a similar story up front - it has Brembo 4pot 305s but needs a massive spacer to clear wheel and the tyre is borderline MOT fail on current camber setup. Will probably sell them on, a shame as discs/pads and calipers are like new, and going to a 288 setup as I want to be able to fit 15in speedlines sometimes. I am sure they would fit under a 17 or a different 16. If there are advantages I am not seeing do say. I'm unlikley to track the car and I'm the type of driver that will have a few mins of fun down a favourite B raod and then revert back to cruising i.e it will never see an hour of abuse. Cheers Matt
  13. Isn't that where the heated rear screen goes and then last row is heated seats? Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
  14. Looks like Recaro front seats - would need a pic of the controls to confirm corrado. The whole interior looks like it has been retrimmed as the door cars don't look like that from factory + it's a mk3 golf right?
  15. Nice work. Re the torque if you have the 12 sided nut it is the lower figure for torque spec. The higher figure is for the 6 point nut and washer setup Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
  16. Cheers Cressa, I'll get my head around mine and get some pics up. I found a Davia wiring diagram in the glovebox - I need to learn how to properly read these types of things (i can scan and send it to anyone who needs it btw). I bought the mk3 switch as saw on ebay at the weekend however I don't think i have anywhere to put it as this car has heated seats. Will double check. Haven't given the car a great deal of attention yet as have been getting rid of all other cars (success - all gone now 🙂 )

    VR6 leather gearknob

Thanks mate - i'm sorted now
  18. Thanks Hasan 🙂I will look for the control valve. The previous owner fitted an alloy radiator and I believe deleted the parts that were behind the rad at the same time - i think it is the air dryer that is missing (that's what I thought/was calling a radiator). These are the bits I have immediately seen in the engine bay that i think relate to the air con. Couldn't get a pic of the condenser. That pipe in my hand I assume goes from condenser to dryer
  19. Thanks! haha yes it didn't take long. I missed it when it was gone and the other two cars I had just didn't seem as special on their own. Plus this one was a good price considering what it is spec'd and came with: almost everything I ever wanted aside from a Schrick!
  20. Ideally nice condition but will take one that needs retrimming. Must have the 1-2-3-4-5-R logo
  21. Didn't last long - bought another one. Twilight Violet VR6. It's a project but came with a lot of parts that made it difficult to say no to. Also sold my mk3 16v and mk2 16v this week and now down to 1 old car which is where I plan to stay. Will do a members ride thread to document progress. I drove a mk2 16v 2 weeks ago and was a bit underwhelmed and it felt more archaic than I really wanted (cable clutch, driving postition not particularly sporty like a corrado). Long story short I didn't feel a mk2 16v was "good enough" to be my only old weekend hobby car. I did look at other cars but not alot fitted my requirements - 4 useable seats, manual, 6 cylinders, not a generic hatchback. Yeah Corroads have their headache with parts but nothing is perfect in life.
  22. Hi, Cressa I think you and perhaps fla have air con on your cars? I bought myself a project - twilight violet VR6 - and found it has air con installed. I've done a search and seen it's a mix of black magic to understand how it works and that there is a place in Surrey that could perhaps be a place to get it going again. As far as I can see "all" i am missing is the radiator and buttons in the cabin but just wanted to check with you guys on what you have in the car. I can see -relay box next to fan control -compressor under alternator -a disconnceted pipe that looks like it probably ran from the radiator and compressor -a sensor in the air box on the scuttle Is there anything else I should have? Wondering whether it is worth trying to save the install or strip it out if I am missing crucial bits. Cheers!
  23. Cleaned up nice that side too. Nice painting :) Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
  24. Late to the chat but done this job 4 times in the last year and it's 1 circlip and bearing pushes against the lip on the knuckle/race. Think you've got there but just chipping in to give confidence. Mk2 set up is diff with circlip each end. Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
  25. Nice work Cressa. I had heard the same about powdercoating eventually flaking off and rusting but did have some parts done myself. Next time i do anything like this wont do powdercoating and instead blast and use an enamel based chassis paint. Sent from my SM-G990B2 using Tapatalk
