Looks a decent quality unti in the pictures to be fair (I'm an anti JP Group person after having one of their MAF sensors). Dox - i googled the 1115202700 PN and got a 4 bar pump 1h0 919 651 q = 4 bar 1h0 919 651 p = 3 bar https://www.autodoc.co.uk/jp-group/8172201 either way hopefully this JP group pump will offer a decent solution for you.

Just a thought after silently reading this thread. If you're buying pumps and casings to separate is it worth sourcing a 2nd hand original mk3 golf pump assembly and swapping in the 4bar vdo pump? Assume this issue is because the NOS stuff has been made from inferior plastic whereas the originals are made out of better plastic and assume are going to be better than jp group casings. I'm only thinking this as the pump i removed from my mk3 and now reinstalled so can't photo it looked the same as my corrado from memory except it is 3 bar. I could be wrong about casings but thought it worth mentioning as mk3 pumps can be had for not a lot of money. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Ahh if no 109 then you have no ECU control so that is probably your spark issue. With regards to testing the coil pull a lead and insert spark and crank - check for spark. However wait until 109 is installed. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

Do you have spark but no fuel (plugs not wet)? Relay 167/67 is the fuel pump. 109 is the ECU. When you turn on ignition can feel/hear any clicking on those relays? You can bridge relay 167 location to make the fuel pump run constantly on ignition (or use a relay 100 in its place to achieve).

Well it certainly looked like it sat outside for 20 years. Im sure the new owner is setting out on their resto as we type... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

That is at least an option rather than scrapping entirely. Perhaps the powers that be have learnt that scrapping only is not the right option like it was back way back when they looked to rid the road of old cars (and get people into £monthlies to stimulate their real agenda). Nice to see engine conversions being mentioned. Its been a game to play since the beginning of the motorcar but often frowned upon by some. If it becomes a way to keep the old stuff alive and workshops a lifeline to build euro6 conversions packages then it just formalises what lots of people are doing already, gives an easy route of achieving to those that can't themselves and gets us out of part obsolete land for the mechanicals at least. Space cadets haha tickled me and the perils of selling parts. Good to see the gearbox ended up in your hands. I know what you about the stock knob in the mk3 gti - it could easily be at home in a T4 van. Shame VW didn't stick a golf ball one on there to keep the heritage alive. I have a VT mount on the front and thought it was great too. Loving the progress updates

Good job! I would happily buy some to help get your project off the ground. I am sure the facebook guys would as well to get a bit more traction. I haven't looked at others VWs but wonder if the bush is the same size as say the mk2 and mk3 as a wider appeal (though i know their wiper mechs aren't obsolete like ours - just thinking it might widen the customer base).

What 80's - 90s cars for sale have caught your eye recently.

It has worn well for the mileage if no restore type work. I think you are right on the sill. Agree James with your conclusion - I too would not want to go anywhere near a 90s (or earlier) renovation project again. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk -

280k Porsche 968 anyone? https://www.themotoringteam.co.uk/used-cars/porsche-968-3-0-sport-2dr-london-202211191837750 -
Cheers. I do have a NOS wiper full assembly but sadly can't part with it whilst I have the car. There is someone either on here or on the facebook group 3d printing bushes if you become desparate.

Garage turned out decent. Mk2 and 911 looking good.

What's the deal on the wiper arm? Does the metal wear out or is it a bushing that fails over time?

Aren't these the FAG ones you need for the Corrado? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361708204477?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=_fUSZCitRmO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=fE0d-bB2R7m&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

SKF are a good brand too. I went for FAG on my Corrado and have Meyle HD on the mk3 16v https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361708204477 Do you know if your axles have been separated from the wheel hub before? I had a hell of job breaking the factory grip on the mk3 - 20tonne press, impact gun, tools specifically made for the job too and struggled for days. With the Corrado I saved myself the hassle and got Stealth to do it!

1996 Corrado VR6 Flash Red Chelmsford to Cheshire 228 Mile Roadtrip!

I quite like the wheels. I have some old brochures here and they were an OE option and diamond cut. What are you plans for the car Mat? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk -
actually it looks like you have succeeded or are you doing that manually? I see it is a good feature

I don't think we have that option on this forum 😞

1996 Corrado VR6 Flash Red Chelmsford to Cheshire 228 Mile Roadtrip!

Good to see it went to an enthusiasts home. I have seen it in the classifieds for sometime and if I was buying a corrado it was the one I would have bought out of the current selection. I think first jobs is to put that Karmann sticker back in the right place 😄 -
Can't dispute that is the most sensible and cost efficient way to achieve the goal. I was amazed when renovating my mk3 16v that the part numbers for the all bushes, control arms, rear axle, bearings, track rods, knuckles/bearing housing, anti roll bar etc etc are all exactly the same as my Corrado VR. The only parts I could tell that were different from factory were the dampers and springs (no one runs stock anymore anyway) and whilst the subframe is visually similar the area where it mounts to the body at the rear is slightly different. Mk3 is 120 kilo lighter than the Corrado VR (1090kg vs 1210kg) too but can see where the mk2 boys come from with it being 150kilo heavier. Odd though how one was the FWD handling kings of it's day and the other was a fat pudding if you go by some reports - don't believe everything you read was my take away and a R36 in it is going to make a for rapid and well sorted NA car. Good to hear you're using Vince at Stealth, he's done lots to mine too and I am happy to drive 100 miles to see him when something big needs doing I don't fancy.
-
Ouch I don't think i could break that but needs must...
-
Nice start to your thread. I like the colour of yours too, mine is just plain old Flash Red. Wheels suit it well and R36 is going to be epic.

Yeah you'll get the 220hp/ 210 ibft on Stealth rollers, you probably already have it with the Exhaust. A friend up in North Wales also had the cams and already had a SS exhuast + BMC and got the same numbers as me. 263s are such a good combo for road driven Corrado. I'm sure it makes the engine note a bit more aggressive and a little bit of burbles on the exhaust on overrun? I didn't ever have the SS exhaust with stock map. I love that you can drive around at normal speeds/throttle and the car is quite civilised but when you plant it barks like hell. I do like Recaros but unlikely to stump up the 2k it would require to buy and would have to be a lot further on my other cars to justify. Stock leather is a nice place to be with the more luxurious door cards. Mine had cloth in original but I bought the leather. VSR is a nice mod and with your cams you'll get even stronger gains too. We'll have to meet proper one day. I'm south of Cambridge but fancy a trip to caffine and machine or something when the weather improves. And pop and crackle is nice in ears - my brothers R53 had a SS exhuast too. I like Miltek - got one on the Corrado and also managed to find one for the mk3 as well... took a year of searching and had to buy it in sections but only cost £140 in total!
-
haha used and abused examples are still enthusiast toys - post away! I'd take a Kamei kit if one came up but I guess I will waiting indefinitely 😄 I did have it mapped at Stealth too with a Miltek Non Res - 220hp and 212 ibft torque which is consistently spread amongst the rev range. The VSR/Shriek on stock cams gives similar torque levels as 263s up to 3500rpm but then drops back off to more stock levels whereas the 263 cams hold the torque all the way up to 5500 (or similar) and also give an extra 30hp so are a very worth while and cost efficient mod. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_r3Mx1i2-E&feature=youtu.be These are the centre console dials - the plastic bit is 3d printed by Ed and the dials are LHD ones but with the lhd plastic shaped bit cut away.

Yea we are quite similar plugging away at our rados! Yours looks a fab with the kit. Shame all the old pics have gone from the forum as makes it hard to place cars to names for newbies. The fascia plate came from Ed Hawkins on Facebook. I think he is corrado16v in here - he had a for sale post recently- black vr6 with 16in speedlines and lots of mechanical work. The plate was 50 quid and comes with instructions on where to cut..... that said I havent installed it yet. The 263s change the car dont they. Lots more midrange and an added lump at the top. The cars can get frustrating at times but my fairly recent view is to look at what you have achieved and be proud and no car is perfect. I debate on the mk3. I do quite like the shape and where am I going to find a rot free, 3 door, 78k, big mechanical refresh, low owners 16v again. I only need to get the roof and bonnet painted (bonnet more so) and it should be low maintenance for 5 years at least on my mileage. The curse of the attainable VWs and even worse when you've put a lot of effort into them. The only winner is the buyer. I do think to other cars but have had VW/VAG in my blood for at least 20 years I dont think id be happy elsewhere long term. Plus I like the variety of multiple cars. The r53 sounds a right riot. Could add details to this thread? I'm interested and I'm sure others will be too. Im going to do one on my corrado, mk3 and mk2 to try and bring some extra content and maybe new members.
