With the BTS disconnected you are in timing mode - ie no advance by the ECU I'd maybe try a new ECU...

VR6 Mocal cooler boys - show us your temps!
Supercharged replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in Engine Bay
Yeah I think most people do get the sandwich plate - I know most people on here bought the kit from Stealth as they were the only ones that provided the correct bits for the VR - they still just run too cold in the winter though... -
VR6 Mocal cooler boys - show us your temps!
Supercharged replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in Engine Bay
Bagging its not a bad idea as they corrode like fook too... you could almost do with a bypass type arrangement. Other thing to consider is a fully closed original grill and maybe different oil? -
What a croc of sh1t...
-
No - not really - I'm sure you'd see it leaking... Could be the cooler at the front of the car but I've never seen one go, common places for leaks are around the pump and the metal swaged connections on the pipes where they go from EPDM pipe to solid - these rot.

2 Ltrs!! - the whole system only holds 1 ltr

I'd check your fuel lines very carefully!

I remember a set going for £1600 a few years ago! That is a fair amount of money without door card and pics are not great but then again they look very good and decent / unworn interiors are getting hard to find now!

This link shows the correct part and the MANN part number (Genuine ones are made by Hengst) http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info. ... cts_id=193

Hmmm - Who's offered you the alternative as it's wrong?? There is only one Oil filter for the Corrado VR6 unless the filter housing has been changed to the later ODB2 Golf one. The correct part number for the kit is 021115562, I bought 2 last week for Jim from TPS and they are £6.40 each This kit contains the element 021115561A but you can't order that seperatly.

Samco's - just don't fit very well, I spent a whole day doing mine and I'm now back to genuine ones - thought I'd buy some while I could. Temp sensor housing - they changed that to the 3 port version in 2001 so yours must have been original - VW should have added the bung, seal and extra clip to it as ETKA says 'also use...' Air lock - you shouldn't get one if you fill up slowly - should take 5 mins according to VW, if the bottom hose is not getting hot then it's maybe a thermostat problem.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEFT-Side-Wing-Mi ... 1697wt_907 Thought I'd give the above a try to compare to the Halfords ones that don't quite fit... they sent me 2 MK2 Golf ones, emailed them twice and heard nothing so tried to get through on phone, after several attempts got to speak to someone who checked 'the catalogue' and confirmed that the MK2 Golf part also covered the Corrado - I told him they were completly different and he said I must have aftermarket mirrors and won't offer a refund!!! - luckily I paid by Paypal and they should recover the cost - just to save anyone else the hassle!

I know Schteve has.. You should have seen the girls face in Tesco's - I'd been to Waitrose the day before but forgot cereal, I walked out with £100's worth of Whiskey and 2 boxes of Special K
-
That's also reduced in Tesco mate - £19.99

Yandards' Nugget G60 - gone but not forgotten..
Supercharged replied to Yandards's topic in Members Gallery
Heh... you're not kidding. Don't think Steve will forget that experience for a while. That's 4 days of my life I'll never see again... Although I could do a G60 head gasket with my eyes closed now I don't want to see another headless G60 on my drive ever again!! -
If you're completely stuck most heater hose is a standard bore size - halfords do a range on the shelf
-
Piss water. To be fair he's from Wales mate - that's sophisticated drinking!
-
Ah ok - maybe not been timed in 18 years then!! I suppose that's posible if you're careful doing cambelt changes etc... The other thing to do would be to give yourself more access - which isn't easy on a G60, I think you'd have to remove the fan?
-
Much cheaper than duty free and a must have when doing large jobs like G60 head gaskets - especially Yan's! Taylor!!!! Woodford reserve also on offer at the same price!
-
Album - there should be a plastic cover over it to protect plus it should only be nipped up. I use a Flexible Headed ratchet spanner (Halfords) - try one of these if you have one, the ratchet allows you to get a bit of mechanical advantage on it.

I thought I had enough fuel to make it home....
Supercharged replied to wy906's topic in General Car Chat
I do check mine but they never go down! Regarding the fuel gauge I find both mind pretty accurate - even though the TDI one reads backwards  Best to never let it get into the red really - more strain on the pump etc... -
Kit looks good Marc - how much was it?
-
I'm sure the heated ones are still available from VW but not really needed in the UK - MK2 Golfs ones are fine and less than a fiver for the pair.
-
Nugget almost done! Well top bit anyway :)
Supercharged replied to KIPVW's topic in General Car Chat
Sounds like your doing the right thing Kip - there is no way you want this on a Cat D or C when you have an agreed value in place - keep on it! -
No, go to the insurance first and raise a complaint, they will send an independent engineer out to look at it and he will then say they have to give the original place a chance to rectify. If the second job is not good then you can take it to somewhere like RW Masters
