Hi mate - how do you mean? I had to remove 3mm from the mating face of the carrier - this is shown in the first pic and I also filled away some material in the bit where the disc sits to make it more even side to side.
-
If it's a coil pack model I'd look at this first if it's not been changed recently.
-
VAGCOM should be the first thing you do but as above, when was the oil last changed? If you don't know when then best to drop the sump and do a full oil change with filter.
-
Yeah they own Elora but historically it was it's own brand like Snap-On etc Draper stuff is fairly poor quality, the expert range is slightly better but not as good as Halfords Pro stuff. Elora are in a different league all together
-
Yep, they are the same but if you buy a new pump and have an original you will also need a new sender to match the new pump.
-
Yep - this shows what a track rod (with end) looks like - this is a VR (Plus suspension) specific one... As David says, these non genuine ones are ok but will rust badly in a couple of years making adjustment difficult, I would stick to genuine. Same goes for the boots - genuine plastic ones last years but the pattern ones seem to perish after 2-3
-
New rods come with ends so best to replace them and also the steering rack boots. As Steve says above it's best to renew as much as you can in that area and then have it all alligned if it's mostly original. This way you don't get differential wear on parts - ie where new parts wear out quicker than they should becuase of other worn ones around them.
-
If it was rear discs did the ABS cages get changed for new ones or were the old ones re-used?
-
Yep - Beige along with the sunvisors and map light (still available from VW)
-
No the whole box, it's a fairly common issue with digifant cars - I'd try yours in another car if possible to confirm... If you have a spare then make sure you check the engine and gearbox earths are good before trying it!
-
Hi this maybe a blown ECU (injector driver) due to a bad engine earth...

1001 Carpet Cleaner - works a treat!

Yep well done Jimbo - some good stuff in there and the Scottish rally sounds interesting! I did think it was a bit strange though getting that only a couple of days after the AGM letter - surely the postage could have been combined? I lol'd when I saw the TDI pics of the scuttle seal me and Yan did - makes me cringe seeing all the sealant under the trim, all brand new with proper clips now since I had a new screen fitted, I'm not sure I'd recommend the Jetex filter anymore though as it really doesn't allow enough air to get into the cabin for the small MK2 fan (although I've not found any alternative that fits) Good to see the Stealth review in there too 8)

Yeah you need to do the ignition timing following the proper procedure.
-
Genuine ones are plastic so that's fine but it's the casing that can cause issues - especially on a 16V If it's not an original casting then they can sometimes press on the cambelt cover so take care when fitting, we spent ages trying to get a Febi one to fit a mates 9A ok after filling the casting down and a week later it leaked like mad so we swapped for genuine anyway.

If there is no adjustment then the cable is stretched - replace.

METTALIC BLACK VR6 CORRADO STOLEN ON FRIDAY NIGHT
Supercharged replied to Timbo's topic in General Car Chat
You need to claim on insurange for that - that's why we pay insurance! -
They apply to you for 3 years but stay on the license for 4... In terms of insureance I think it's 5 years
-
The rear calipers should fit if the discs are non vented (9mm) - you just nee the Goodridge conversion hoses. They should just be the same a mk4 ones I think but powdercoated green. You won't fit the discs etc without a whole load of other parts as they are a completly different setup
-
No where near enough stopping power for a 1250Kg 360hp road missile.... Was going to say... 4 pots should be an absolute minimum requirement for 360+BHP... I'm running the 312's on the TDI and they are ok but hardly any better than the 280mm setup tbh...
-
You'll need to give them your chassis number - VW can look this up from the reg but not sure about GSF You need a pair of cables by the way

[TPS] Cheap 16V and G60 Distributors
Supercharged replied to Supercharged's topic in Suppliers Forum
I've got an account but you need a company adress to get stuff delivered to... But you could also say you work from home too. Best way to get stuff like oil and service bits is to just go in the branch and buy them on the cash account. -
VW (TPS) have reduced the price of the 16V and G60 distributors (exchange) if anyone is interested http://www.thetradepartsspecialists.co. ... h_2010.pdf
-
Compared to the 16v they are the same profile but 3mm thicker.

Change on engine number upto Engine No. 9A131460 uses 027198025 Anything afterwards uses the later 'ABF' gasket Can't see how VW got this wrong unless you have the wrong cam cover?
