Geraldine, worry about the bits in the sump mate - thats from an old dipstick tube. What was the oil pump pickup strainer like? Block - I would take it to Scholar engines in Eye and get them to tank it and maybe check the tolerances etc.

Tools catalogue mate! Counter-hold tool for toothed belt sprocket T3099 - Locking crankshaft sprocket
-
Don't think driers are expensive at all mate - just buy new from VW
-
Maybe a dodgy fuse / cconnection - worth re-seating or replacing it
-
Rad welds particuarly bad in a VR because of the small water ways in the block. Like Walesy says though, best not to use it at all and fix the problem properly!
-
I do enjoy a nice slice of ham...
-
Err yeah don't use rad-weld, especially in a VR! For coolant leaks you need to look for white staining on pipes and on the block around the plastic coolant flanges.

It's on the ECU page I think - If you just search for ground strap or earth strap you'll find it

357 971 537 - 360mm - £3 ish
-
Be interested to see what tensioning system you use - ABF maybe?
-
The pictures offend me - change them now - it will look better on bricks!
-
Very nice - I use a flexi-head ratchet spanner but that's a much better idea! Let me know how much $ if you start making them...

Knocking noise from drivers side front wheel area!
Supercharged replied to ANDREW 30's topic in Drivetrain
If it's only occured since the dampers were fitted I would suspect a spring maybe not seated correctly - I'd take it back to where they were done for diagnosis -
fitting a non adjustable steering column (how-to)
Supercharged replied to davidwort's topic in Drivetrain
Yeah the other bits a dirt cheap - just the column which is about £70 I think so most of us have found them second hand - I managed to find a brand new one at a show for a quid! -
It's 4mm - I'd just buy it from VW, not expensive at all and seems to last much longer than the generic stuff!
-
Copy and paste the detail up on here... The light only comes on when the ABS is disabled - these faults might not do this.
-
That ain't right at all Tom! ALL VW's should run with the gauge bang in the middle on 90 degree's - if it seems to be consistently higher or lower then there is a fault.

The polo is the same part as the Corrado one mate - see the pic above, they both have the small spline -
fitting a non adjustable steering column (how-to)
Supercharged replied to davidwort's topic in Drivetrain
The Corrado uses a splined adapter - if you remove this you then have a small one underneath! -
Has anyone else led underneath their car while running?
Supercharged replied to Toad's topic in Engine Bay
You've obviously not 'had the pleasure'... I really don't think we want to let the Toad get out more than he currently does! -
Toad's my hero :camp:

help - need a local supplier for silkolene today!!!
Supercharged replied to big ben's topic in Suppliers Forum
Silkolene make some great products but I just can't really justify the cost when the VW Platinum is so cheap and I never leave any oil in an engine more than 5k miles... -
Issam, good to see you on here! So it's an ABA head with an AZG manifold on a G60 block? Any other engine parts uprated? What sort of power will this make compared to the standard PG lump?
-
VW strangely enough! I doubt they will cost you anything either
-
Yeah they can't be obselete - will just be replaced... Stainless is better for those though really!
