Anyone used Austin VW garage - Marks Tey
Supercharged replied to jonesyUK's topic in Suppliers Forum
I've not actually used them but they have a very good reputation... they had a G60 a while back they put a brand new VAg engine into so they know Corrado's -
If it was serviced 500 miles ago i'd take it back for them to look at... When was the cambelt last changed? regardless of mileage it is probably due if more than 4 years ago... If it's pinking then I would say either the timing is out or it just needs a good setup - trip to Stealth maybe?
-
Yeah you need to have a good look at all the seals, glass, trim etc... there is a KB guide to changing the leaf gaurd seal than me and yan did... Also check the badges at the rear for missing clips / blue grommets - this usually only affects the rear screen but you wouldn't believe the amount of water than can get in!
-
Thats correct mate - just how they come now but you're right - they are not a straight fit... The original spade has a locking tab on it you either need to remove this or reterminate it (best way) The spade connector slides over the circle horizontally - so it looks like a T (hopefully you'll see what i mean!)

There is a term to describe this sort of thing - Dinkus

Electric drill or saw to cut the inner rubber out then a hacksaw to cut thru the outer shell that will be rust-welded to the beam... you will need new ones pressing in unless you use polly
-
Hugh - jesus mate, I hope your ok! Sorry about the car obviously but being a kit car i'm sure it will be rebuilt to a better spec than before - main thing is that you are ok as vitually anything could have happened there!

You need a new heater matrix - also looks like your car wasn't recalled for the bypass valve mod to prevent the above from happening! Main thing is your ok - people have got burned / had accidents in situations like that! -
I paid 107.9 on the way to the CC show filling up the TDI... i'm used to getting ripped off for fuel but it's getting silly now, they should put a cap at £1 per ltr

You can get it seperatly from a Bosch dealer but not easy to fit... try and find another known working digifant dizzy (late MK2 8v GTI etc) to try out before buying a new one...
-
Tell him not to change it then - the VW stuff is critical...
-
I use evian... :flower: Yan - sorry was on phone... might be free later this arvo...
-
Yeah, sealed for life but VW expect it to be flushed every 4 or so when waterpumps are changed - more so on the newer cars... The new stuff, G12++ is just for the alloy blocks... so G12+ for us!

Checking of tyre pressure, oil and coolant.
Supercharged replied to Bojmobile's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah, try to check mine reguarly but luckily hardly ever have to top up... 5PSI is alot in 2 weeks, either a slow puncture or as mentioned wheel corrosion which isn't unlikely with originals... worth maybe trying some ultraseal or similar! - other thing it could be is the valves if they weren't changed - worth trying metal dust caps with the O ring seal (bike shop) -
Correct part numbers for MK4 rear calipers ?
Supercharged replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Suppliers Forum
Got mine from C&R - £50 each but i'm not sure they can do that price any more... fitted to any MK4 Golf based car with no vented rear discs - stay away from Polo's / Fabia's tho as they use a smaller piston (32mm i think) and also the Passat/Oct/A4 ones have different hose and nipple placements altho they may fit ok... I would try to get new tho and paint them - mK4's are getting old now and most i've seen have really suffered from the alloy corrosion. -
Hmmm - thats not good, if it was a Skoda dealership they guy would have been a VAG trained technician - should know all about clutch hydraulics!
-
Thats why he's not a mechanic! - as the clutch wears the biting point will become higher on the pedal travel... Yep all C's come with a hydro clutch which is non adjustable, if yours bites low then you most likely have a leak in the system - check the slave cylinder on top of the gearbox, you may see traces of fluid on the box altho they leak internally at first...
-
You can get the speednuts from VW too, I would use stainless screws if pos tho as these rust and it them spreads to the clips... Size is No.10 by 16mm Pan-head
-
Nope - TPS have been advertising this heavily - it includes everything with a few wear and tear exceptions, best bit about it is that if you do get a part fail VAG will also cover the labour no matter who fitted it.

2002 1.9 TDI Ford Galaxy Alternator fit a Corrado VR6 ?
Supercharged replied to AmbisoniK's topic in Engine Bay
Sure that number is correct?
