Nice one - I was only joking tho... How is the 16VG60 going - are you building the engine yourself?? -

LOL, yeah but lots of MK3 parts in testing too... every time I drive my mums MK3 it annoys me how everything is so solid, everything works and there are no rattles... doh! -

Jim, Ban Stoney if you like - having a MK3 in his avatar is a good enough reason... -

Who's car is that then Jim, looks like a blackberry VR? -
Simon - if you have the uprated loom the relays should be under the bonnet somewhere, trace the wires from the back of the lights and the relays should be mounted near the battery...

Not bad for a 15 year old car tbh - stuff wears out... Ball joints are easy enough but make sure you mark it's location to keep the camber set up - VW say change the 3 bolts but I would buy the plate and the pinch nut and bolt - I had a 1 year old genuine VAG BJ fail on me because the top bolt was corroded and worn away... Emmisions - If it's failed then it probably needs seting up and tuning, worth doing and you will probably get more MPG for it - could also be faulty BTS or Lambda etc or not enough voltage to the injector rail...
-
Mine is exchange, got to weigh the old one in for £25 plus vat when I do it. I'd be quick, VW only give 14 days to chop stuff in...
-
LOL, Ah - maybe depends if you get exchange or not??
-
GPC will be cheapest...
-
Yeah, VAG only supply the plastic verison... German and Jewish do the metal type but weather it's better or not i don't know...
-
That pipe is needed but the bit from the plug doesn't go anywhere - it's just to make it look tidy, unplug and have a look and you'll see what I mean... Ford seem to be cheaper for VR6 bits than VW and they also sell more parts seperatly (I think you can buy that small pipe without having to get the whole assembly...) - just ask for that bit off a Ford Galaxy 2.4 VR6
-
357721261A GSF sell exactly the same part that VW do, it won't make a difference unless the current one is faulty but the fluid change might if not been done recently... that said tho it's worth changing becuase of the problem you mentioned and the fact that it will fail with age...
-
Hehe - will post your CD tomorrow...
-
Worth printing the buyers guide if you've not already... Piston Slap is common on VR's as they age but this could also be due to chain / tensioner wear...
-
Dude, get 4 new relays from Maplins and then order 2 proper plugs, 4 repair wires and the rubber seals from VAG, bit of heatshrink and some soldering...
-
Yep VW is the only place that will sell exactly what you need - may as well buy while you still can as stuff goes obselete by the day!
-
Hello, if you unplug that connector you'll see it's blank on UK corrado's so nothing to worry about, that pipe needs changing or at least cleaning - cheap from a Ford dealer. The injectors - if it is fuel then you can get new O ring seals, i'd also change the one for the FPR while your at it as i have seen these wear on a VR

That be a Scirocco part!!
-
Bill he means the steering lock not the bit you stick the key in (which incidently is worth chaging at the same time altho the old one can be drilled out easily as is the ignition switch for the newer black polo 6N part...) The numbers posted are correct as lonbg as the car is manual transmission - the 357 part is for non adjustable steering column and the 535 part is for the adjustable...

As a guide I have just done a rear brake rebuild on mine (already had MK4 calipers) I used all genuine parts and these came to just under £120 inc vat but at trade prices... Included Discs, Pads, Caliper Bolts, Carrier Bolts, Wheel Bearings, ABS rings and the small stub axle dust gaurds... If I did it again I would also buy 8 new stub axle bolts and new spash gaurds but this will add another £40 or so...
-
Fairly sure it was a factory option but not particuarly popular thing to have in the UK at the time hence the rarity... There isn't that much to it tbh looking at ETKA, only problem is some of the stuff is obselete like the throttle linkage... Whats not actually working on yours?? may just be a vac leak?
-
Dudes - about the relays... the only ones I have found to last well under the bonnet are the ones maplin sells (on the shelf as 'automotive relays') - seem to be the cheapest too - 30A is £2 and £40 is £2.70
-
Hmmm - probably just age but worrth checking the rest of the system is working as it should - a failing aux water pump could cause this!
-
Yeah, I'd use those or VW ones... you will need new bearings too but these I would only buy from VW!
-
Yup, connector may just need cleaning and brightening up... check carefully tho for leaks becuase when the start to go you can loose alot of oil in a short period of time!!
