  4. MickeyT, got the part number off mine, it's a LUCAS part... DLB403 Checked my local branch and they didn't have any but did have loads of other reduced ones for other cars so worth having a check around...

Yep, the thermoswitch is between the top and bottom hoses on the rad, you will need to take the battery off and the plug to it off then release it with a 30mm (plumbing size) spanner, swap it over quickly (also change the compression washer) and you won't loose much coolant. Thats quite alot of oil! - what mileage is your engine on, maybe needs valve guide seals replacing...

  12. just pull carefully from one end and make sure you don't kink em if you \plan to put them back on...
  13. Maybe a break in the circuit somewhere but i'd check ALL the fuses again first and also check in the manual to confirm that each device you mention is on the same circuit... also check any alarm fuses that maybe under the bonnet...

  15. LOL, no probs - not sure about the acceleration... I'd say the MAF was the most likely candidate but as you say you really need to get it on VAGCOM to see if there are any fault codes... Could also be ignition related - leads or coilpack (if its a late VR) A quick test for the above would be to spray a mist of water at night over the ignition components with the engine running and see if you see any sparks (arcing) - this may show up a faulty lead.
  16. It's within a plastic housing off the water pump.. luckily this can be changed from underneath without taking the charger off! Best to buy a new stat, plastic housing and bolts and change the lot...
  17. Yeah - there was a mention of that a while ago, not sure if anyone checked ETKA to find out if that was correct or not and weather a larger belt is also needed...

  19. They are bonded, seal is not available seperatly, removal procedure in the Bentley manual (most body shops get a glass fitter in to remove/refit these)
  20. Just insured my TDi with HIC - £230 Fully Comp, can drive other cars, 10k miles a year and track insurance included! Whats best is that they include a form for the agreed value which you fill out and as long as they approve they just charge an extra £15 admin fee...
