    Most likely dudgy ignition switch, could also be starter motor sticking but try the cheapest one first!

    The CL switch lead from the drivers side handle has probably perished, when I changed my door handle when it broke, the switch wires literally fell off as I removed the handle!

    You don't need the logbook for tax? You should just need the MOT and insurance certificates.

    You need 2 of V6x2 998 406 which is an arm and blade, GPC can get them but no cheaper than the dealer, mine were £33

    Went to replace my early switch with the later item, the plug and pins look identical, both switches are made by the same firm and the numbers next to the pins all match up so simple swap over i thought. Plugged it in and it appeared to act as it should until i switched the engine on (for the main lights) and smoke started to come from the relay area :? Anyone else done this mod, have i got a dodgy switch (bearing in mind its second hand) or do I need a new relay also?

    Yeah, new from VW there £240+vat, definetly shop around, the previous owner had mine done at a price of £320 all in.

    Hmm... I thought the late corrado were the same as mk3 but the early ones are not the same as Mk2's?? Give them a call, they should know as they hardly have a massive range of products!

    ... and the new concept bus is being build! (altho maybe not now as they have just recalled 870,000 Passats and A4's :roll: ) True about coupe's tho, I was looking at the new Celica in my local dealer last week and I have to say it give me the horn! - Good job I am a strict No-ricertarian 8)

    But if the light is on and stays on then its disabled, I tried it braking very hard and its the first time i've ever locked the front wheels...

    Yeah, there is a seperate circuit for up and down using resistors... sounds like one side of the control box is buggered

    probably fine then, the part number just has a different letter at the end?

    Yeah, take the cambelt off and take a look Jim before you leave - Kevhaywire put some pictures up on here of my seized tensioner, very lucky to catch it in time! Look for play in the tensioner bearings and if it runs off centre its shagged! also look at the belt for signs - shiny and cracked?

    Did you swap the fuel pumps over also as the 8V is a different part number to the VR?

    Yeah, must be a connection problem and if it was the Gbox speed sensor the speedo would not work either (I had that problem and sorted with new sensor)

    They are only a few quid more from GSF, well worth it 8)
