  1. Yeah, without the tool its very hard... £20 will save you an extra hour on the car anyways... If you have managed to do one side but the other won't budge then the caliper probably wants replacing anyway and they should be done in pairs...
  2. Just a thought but you could check the Gbox earth...
  3. What the hell did she think a 'Vibratechnics front engine mount' was?

You could try disconnecting the battery but it sounds like the switch on the stalk is shagged, new ones from GSF, same as mk2/3 golfs i think depending on the year of your car.
  5. Fair enough you don't need the special tool but all it is is a shaped bit of metal so if you are planning on doing more than one belt change its probably worth getting one...
  6. Looking at a mk5 today - are those Calipers the same as the MK4, they look pretty similar?
  7. Sorry, you sound like a Darlek...
  8. Not very... the original ones are metal and really get destroyed when taking out... not expensive to replace tho... Use vagcom to find which ones the problem but your car may just need a good pressure wash, also check all the abs connections
  9. Went to install a few PC's at West Suffolk Hospital today and upon leaving found my car had been clamped (luckily I was in my works Golf TDi Estate not the C)... can't seem to park anywhere these days!! There were signs out but very small and not bright coloured, the other thing I liked was the fact that they were bumper height and I had reversed into a row of 5 cars as someone else left, got out the car and all the other spaces were taken so I could not see any of the signs  The other thing I noticed was that I was clamped 5 mins after I returned from lunch, before lunch it was parked in a loading bay as I had 20 PC's/TFT's and 2 big printers to unload and no one said a thing! There was no point arguing with the bloke who came to unclamp me as he's only doing his job (would be a different story if it was the C!) but I did mention to him the crappy signs and he said there only on duty 3 days a week and I would have been fine tomorrow and also the fact that if I had parked on the grass (mud) next to the 5 spaces I would also have been fine  The NHS must be creaming a nice litle profit from this, stupid thing is I work for the Council who will be paying the fine and at the end of the day its just government (tax payers) money being 'moved' around!
  10. I am pleased to announce that my mum spotted a Corrado today (an achievement in itself)... It was a Green VR6 with a female, yes female, driver... at Sainsburys petrol station, Warren Heath, Ipswich. I asked her the reg and she didn't know but said it looked 'brand new'... Bless her :)
  11. I've got some Terry's Chocolate Oranges with minor superficial damage to the boxes if anyones interested? 'Sonia, that was classic intercourse...'
  12. The 6 sided DX bolt does not come with a washer making it too long, you just want to order a crank bolt for a PG engine and they will give you the right one which looks identical to the original part it superceded but is of the non stretch type (we hope  )
  13. For the Bolt? - It should be on Etka if you look under Corrado G60's... as a replacement part for the original (superceded) N-903-208-02
  14. Yeah, the Astrali ones are great but Halfords no longer do them :( I don't think you can buy straight from them but the link above should tell you the suppliers...

    G60 Spec

Other models did but the G60's didn't for some reason...
  16. Yeah, I have the Mamei which is superb but I have heard the GSF ones ok, I think it only has 4 holes in it so worth drilling another 4 to match the Kamei fitting as you have to drill the lights and slam panel anyways (not as bad as it sounds)
  17. bluekev16vgolf - I've seen this name before, I think this guy has several ebay names and even makes tranactions between them to build up feedback then screws people over... look at his feedback and see who else he has sold to - some of these are no longer registered users because they (or him) have been banned. I like eBay but its a shame these pr1cks have to ruin the experience for other genuine traders
  18. I wonder if Mike Edwards would swap his fleet for one 13k mint, modified, Storm?

    G60 Spec

Fairly certain Jim's right... we both have '92 G60's (the last ones) and have the later body but early interior :(
  20. Well, the handbook / haynes manuals tell you whats involved and what the manufacturers recomend and when... VW's 10k miles Inspection service is little more than an oil change, the 20k one is filters / fluids etc..., G60 plugs every 40k's Stealth will just do anything that needs doing or report things that will need attention in the future... In the last 12 moths I have had all belts and fluiids changed - If you just had your car serviced always at VW and no other work done then the PAS, clutch fluid and coolant would never be changed unless there was a problem in that area  The VAG service history is good and at least I know the parts used were correct, Oil filters etc but once these cars get to 100k miles / 10 years old they need a bit more looking after! My car has 85k miles on it with a full vag service history, I changed the fuel filter a few months ago as the pump was noisey and I could not see it had been changed on any service reciepts, It certainly looked like the original and the new one instantly quietend the pump down :?
  21. If you talking about the T1S's I don't like them at all, there grippy in the dry but wear way too quickly and useless in the wet... Yoko A539's for me 8)
