VR6 belt tensioner bearing replacement - how to.
Supercharged replied to PhatVR6's topic in Suppliers Forum
I'd give SKF a call... this is what the catalogue says... -
LOL - Top Gear don't really know the meaning of mechanical sympathy!

Got to wiggle wires and turn key to start?
Supercharged replied to snakeblueskin's topic in Engine Bay
Probably just a dodgy ignition switch... -
Yep - £45 - locally sourced too so being made in the UK somewhere!
-
Surely the tensioner is new if the cam belt is? I would check this anyway before you drive it again I would check the other belts tension and also that the lower belt cover / splash shield is there
-
Most likely the wrong way up dude but also check the drop links are correct as GSF often supply thenwrong ones which are not offset
-
It is but your KR engine does not use an ECU
-
Most VW dealers do an MOT for £30!
-
Yeah the Bentley is wrong too then - it's 25Nm and I think you'll find the stud is M8. It would be 45Nm for an M10 stud.

One for the detailers - Best rotary polisher?

I'd sand Kev's whole car with 1500 grit - I'm surprised there is any paint left on that thing with the amount of suspension changed etc it's had! -
No I meant originally they will have most likely have been from GSF being Zimmerman - was just suggesting you could take them back and swap over, maybe less hassle

_Meth - again, where are the tracking numbers?? Did these get sent on Monday or not? If so where are they? - you can check on the RM site... Also why are you not using the Corrado16v18 account - we sent the password reset email to you at least twice... did you get it? Can you also confirm you originally had an account on here under the name 'Meth'? - someone whom we banned from using the classifieds because of constantly messing people around exactly like this! The Mods / Admins are not happy at all about this situation and also the forum's reputation - please get this resolved asap! -
You will probably find they are from GSF - they will probably swap them for you to the correct ones if you've got a branch near by - they are so used to doing this after supplying the wrong stuff they won't bat an eyelid
-
Yep - completely wrong if the ones you have are the ones pictured.
-
Lol!

Lights on buzzer / indicator maybe??

Meth - surely you have there Paypals already as that's how they would have paid originally is it not? - You can use the refund button in Paypal. Again, can you please post the tracking numbers in this thread please. -
Ah - wait a minute, Autodata / Haynes list the wrong torque setting for this nut plus VW reccomend you change the stud anyway - what were you trying to torque it to?

Be good to try another MAF I think and go back through basic settings after an ECU adaption reset. I think it's good in a way that performance is down as it should make it earlier to test when you think you've fixed the issue The other thing that damages MAF's is aftermarket imobilisers that cut the power to it when it does it's cleaning cyle after the engine is shut off. I assume the actual MPG your getting corresponds to what you see on the MFA? Not sure where RW1 is but he may have some good input on this thread... Maybe also worth a trip to somewhere like Stealth or DG Autotech and get them to have a look and maybe map it afterwards, I know there has been a lot of praise for the DG map on standardish cars.

VW sheet metal all came from Mexico back then - the actual wings were pressed at Osnabruck -

Supercharged replied to Kevin Bacon's topic in Exterior
With original VW paint?? It would take weeks to cut the paint if you have a few heavy sctratches compared with a few hours with a machine -
Best thing to do is to check the upper tensioner for wear...

That Makita is what most bodyshops use - pretty much industry standard. I've got a Silverline variable speed one like that but was only £35 from Toolstation
