  1. Have you tried the new Collinite Marque D'Elegance 915 wax, apparently it contains 24% more carnauba than 476 - just ordered some from http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk
  2. I always find it easier just to take the bumbper off for work like that, got it down to a fine art now, takes me less than 10 mins and means I can work in comfort
  3. I think hanging around a dealers skip in the evenings on a regular basis would seem to be a good idea
  4. Its part of the contract that exists between the manufacturer and the dealership, if the dealership operates outside the contract then they risk being terminated.
  5. Although I normally with "a certain manufacturer" dealers on the sales side of the business I sometimes get involved in conversations relating to aftersales and what I heard today from a Brand Manager defies belief. Every dealer has to carry a minimum stocking of parts (typically 250k worth), most of these parts will be paid for when either (a) they are sold or (b) when they have been in stock for a set period of time. Now this is pretty normal and I already knew this, what surprised me was that dealers are required by "a certain manufacturer" to "skip" parts after they have been in stock for a set period of time - even if the parts are still current and in perfect condition. I was shown today a huge pile of parts that a dealer has to dispose of - sets of alloy wheels, trim parts, engines parts etc - this particular site tries to dispose of as much as possible via E-Bay before the due date but admits that a lot of stuff is still binned.
  6. Sounds awesome, pity most will be bought by people who have no idea how to get the best from it http://www.pistonheads.com/downloads/ring.mp3 Spec 3999cc 414 BHP @ 8300 rpm 295 lbft @ 3900 rpm Engine weight 202 kg - 15kg lighter than the old M3 six Twin oil pumps can handle up to 1.4g Double Vanos Oil cooled pistons 8 individual throttle bodies - accelerator position monitored 200 times per second ECU has 3x 32 bit processors - can handle 200 million operations per second
  7. Overheard in a VW site yesterday "I wonder if you can give me the price on a drivers side door mirror glass on a MK5 Golf please" "No problem sir, I presume it's electrc" "Yes, its also auto dimming" "No problem, let me just check - right sir, that will be £185.90 + VAT" "I only wanted the glass, not the mirror housing and the f***ing door its attached to" "Fitting will be another £45 + VAT" Makes some Rado prices seem reasonable
  8. The MK4 is definitely better looking but the MKV drives much better though
  9. That wasn't a special deal for me either, generally available, discounts are starting to beome more common on the GTi now as well. RSi will run the 3.6 engine, all I've managed to find out is that the price will be below 30k
  10. Concept A - was first shown about 6 months, supposed to preview the Tiguan but looks nothing like it - another pointless VW concept
  11. Like the idea of being held in securely but don't like harnesses, I bought a CG Lock that achieves 90% same effect but leaves you with a normal seatbelt. Look top quality though
  12. The car I was offered was a 3 door, DSG, metallic, Recaro leather, winter pack, upgraded stereo, OTR £29,180, price to me £25,678, 12% discount
  13. If you know where to look you can get them at cost price, even a 3 door manual with leather and DSG - surely the most desirable variant
  14. Well they certainly can't sell R32's at the moment - was at a site today where they bid 19.5k for a 2,500 mile metallic blue 3 door on a 56 plate - thats 3.5k behind book.
  15. Living in Shropshire I'd welcome warmer weather and higher sea levels - live far too away from the coast at the moment :D
  16. Just got the renewal on the Bora from Brentacre, decided to shop around and after 5 minutes on cofused.com ended up getting it £120 cheaper, half the excess from the Post Office - all mods declared. Must admit to being impressed with confused.com, best screen scraper I've used
  17. Wouldn't work, Inpros are projector headlights and the standard lenses would play havoc with the beam pattern - you will also find that the lenses aren't exactly the same size
  18. I take it the garage sourced the axle for you? Understand that you're seriously hacked off - maybe a lesson for us all in there - always pick a car up yourself and check it over carefully before paying
  19. Don't think I've ever heard a car sound so much like an F1 car without it actually being one

    aerial question

Still available from the dealers but they are about £80. Easy to fit, you do need to take the headlining down but its easy, just unscrew the top trim around the tailgate aperture and the headlining is only secured by a few tabs of material, takes about 5 minutes. There are aftermarket aerials available that have the same type of base but some basic wiring may be needed to connect the plugs together, the Corrado has an in-built signal amplifier in the base mount.
  21. Better off giving him a call - I'll PM it to you
  22. There was a 150BHP 2.0 16V 4x4 Calibra and the 2.0 16V Turb0 was 4x4, all the V6's were FWD. It can only be a reasonably new Merc (all earlier Merc 6's were inline), an Omega V6 or a Granada / Scorpio
  23. Can only see it being a Merc or Omega, most other German sixes are straight or flat
  24. Just checked the weather forecast for the next five days, dry here in Telford but you might get a bit of rain on Friday Jim but dry all other days
