  1. ...extremely funny but also quite scary - that is the worlds only remaining super power
  2. Money is cheap at the moment, as above, if you have seen a car that appeals borrow the money and buy it, if you wait until you have saved up enough you might not be able to find the right car
  3. Megane closely followed by the Golf if it was for driving enjoyment Golf by a mile as an ownership proposition Neighbour has a VXR and I think it looks very messy and is already started to look dated, I think the Civic will go the same way
  4. An unbuilt Revell Corrado (the red road version) sold a couple of days ago for £101.00 - madness but pleased as I already have one
  5. Most current Fords are great drivers car - financial suicide if you buy new without a big discount but great used buys. Every Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo I've driven in recent years has been very impressive but I still think youll go a long way to beat a VW as an overall ownership experience
  6. ....according to Auto Motor Und Sport Apparently due to rocketing price of aluminium the company has no option but to shut down - real shame
  7. Thats virtually a new car - love the attention to detail
  8. The fewer the better, nothing like having a rare colour
  9. Just ordered a bonnet bra - never really liked the look of them but can see the sense in using for longer journeys
  10. Don't normally liked modded Corrados but I love this
  11. I have one of the Minichamps 1/43 scale ones - as usual they are only making a few thousand of them so best to get one quick. Not quite as good as the Norev ones but not far behind
  12. Nice and understated - hate the wood trim though, one of the first things I ripped out of the Bora - the R32 aluminium trim is really expensive but it looks a million times better
  13. Wheels are some obscure make, just liked the look of them as they have a reasonable dish on them.
  14. Heres mine - OE front bumper will be back on in a few weeks
  15. ....new VW chairman Martin Winterkorn has ordered a front end restyle to incorporate a more family (read boring and conventional) look Also delayed are: New Passat 4 door coupe, due to be unveiled on 15th Feb, almost certain to be totally shelved Tiguan to be restyled and partially re-enifneered Re-think on Golf MK6, possibly leading to a delay in launch to mid 2008 Sounds like VW are in a bit of turmoil, the reason I like the Scirocco is because it doesn't have a corporate family look, I fear the worst with the re-style
  16. You're spot on with the Asian production openings. VW is the largest volume player in China but is undersevere pressure, Proton I'm sure will give them other opportunities to exploit, I just wonder how many more brands they can take on
  17. Seeing as though the head of Porsche and Volkswagen board member Wendelin Wiedeking has stated "no more toys", I can't see Lotus being kept, I reckon a management buy-out would be on the cards. At the very least Lotus Boss Mike Kimberley (who did briefly head Lamborghini) will be out on his ear very quickly.
  18. Not sure TBH, its quite cheap (£3 a bottle I think) and comes VW branded, usually found on the parts counter - superb stuff and would not use any other now
  19. I get a pretty strong smell of washer fluid in the car on the Corrado, Bora and Passat. I always use the VW fluid and its got a nice whiff to it so I don't mind, generally use a 50/50 split at this tme of year as well
  20. That CRX is a lovely looking little car - made all the better for your efforts
  21. How long is a piece of string Totally dependant on how well its been looked after. The G60 I sold with 170k miles was still incredibly strong - never used oil etc. A good history and enthusiast owned renders the mileage irrelevant to a point as long as you accept that you will need to keep up a decent level of maintenance
  22. The four cylinder is reckoned to be much better balanced and tax wise its less costly
  23. ...I've been approached by a finance company to become their National Account Manager. They want me to drive a new car but are being very flexible - allowance or company car the choice is mine. Monthly allowance is negotiable but if I go down the company car route they've said I can have anything I want as long as the invoice price (therefore allowing me to get a deal on something more expensive) is no more than £30k. After immediately thinking along the lines of R32, Passat R36 etc I've decided to be more sensible and think about the tax implications of driving a big petrol engined car - its just not worth it financially. The problem I have is that the car that appeals to me most is the Alpina D3 - never thought I'd be attracted to a diesel BMW. Looks better than any other current 3 series and performance should be pretty good. Heres a review http://alpina-automobiles.com/downloads ... o_0806.pdf Any thoughts?
  24. Alfa 147 - lovely car to look at, dubious electrical systems and woeful dealer service / back-up - I'd steer well clear Non VW Group cars I'd consider: Honda Accord Subaru Legacy Vectra GSi - if you could find an unmolested one Mondeo ST200 - as above
  25. I'd take the Bora every time - much more car for your money - just as well, if not better built than the A3. My other halfs Bora is a 10 valve V5, performance similar to a 1.8T but with a really appealling growl and superb exhaust note. They can be made to look pretty good for not a lot of money, also the average Bora seems to beeter looked after than your typical Golf seeing as they appealed more to the blue rinse brigade when new
