  3. Nightmere Jim.. I always say ill get it done with a few weeks to spare, when you have time to sort any fails it get cheaper. In reality though it never happens like that...
  4. I had one of these on mine, i had it made by MJ and it was lovely. I sent him a brand new handbrake handle (still available from VW) and it came back attached. I found it difficult to get the handle off. In the end i put a screwdriver acoss the underneath of the handbrake handle and lifted (side to side), it did the trick.. Heres mine:

  6. Hang on Ladies.... :D Theres plenty to do before itll be getting a transplant, i can see that attraction of the 20v, loads of power but agree its not in keeping with the car, the G60 is though imo. Carbed 16v, ive only heard one and it wasnt set up correctly...
  7. Ok, the badges on the back could have been changed but: 150bhp - TDI in red 130 bhp - DI in red 110bhp - I in red. I think my Bora log book had it on failing that when you phone for an insurance quote they will know from your reg number.

  9. Dan, 16v turbo, now that is just silly, but it looks great and i bet it flies... Your maybe a bit early with the rear discs Steve, ive got loads more to do before i get involved with that, let me know when they are off and ill have a think.. Yeah a G60 would be great, ive had a look into it and it doesnt seem a nightmere to put in, ok im sure its not a 5 minute job either... Spent all of yesterday renewing all the fuel lines for braided ones, what an absolute pain it was. New accumulator on monday and then it should be rolling again..

  12. Cheers guys, i have got stuck in and im learning fast that i may end upo throwing the book at this, i love it. Really big picture im talking colour change, different engine and everything hcanged but for the moment i want a fun and tidy car.. I wish it was as tidy as my old Corrado though and i suppose ill always compare to that, good for the car, bad for my bank balance... Rear disc conversion info appreciated Ben, ill dig around and find some more info on that..
  13. I thought id throw up a progress report on the Mk1: So, what have i been doing: New suspension - Weitec GT coilovers, all set up to make it stand correctly. Interior fully removed, dash wiring sorted, missing door internals sorted, carpets and seats shampood. Radio fitted, speaker wiring sorted, dash redstriped. VDO gauges installed (not finished yet). Battery tray stripped back and repainted. All arches have been off (front wings will be due a change). Lighting defetcs all fixed, it was an absolute disgrace. Full Service, coolant flush, thermostat fitted. Front indicators changed to clears, German plates binned.. To come (soon) full new fuel system as it leaks. Filler neck already done, all braided lines, new pump and accumulator coming up. new rubber upfront, going narrower. Bigger picture: All suspension parts off for blast, coat, rear disc conversion. Im enjoying this car greatly, ok i hardly drived it as the fuel leak has put a stop to that. Its easy to work on but age makes it fiddly as time takes its toll and hurrendous previous work needs put right.. Pictures:

  15. A mate of mine has one of the Prodrive Imprezzas. I tell you what it is ballastic, almost instant redling in all gears but if im honest it did nothing for me. Ok the power is great but noise awful, build quality not the best and the stigma attached isnt good.. Each to there own though.. Ive seen a Mk1 Golf with a full imprezza set up, that could be the best of both worlds..

    mk2 vr

    Before i bought the Mk1 i decided i would either get a Mk2VR, a Mk4 of some description or the Mk1.. I can definitely understand the attraction of a VR powered golf, i wouldnt even bother with a turbo, obd2 a seyt of cams and a rempa and it would be a brilliant daily quick car.. The white one is nice, i dont like big bumpers on an early car though, just me being picky.. Id say have a closer look. If you were to sell your Corrado you could always get another.. Thats how i felt about selling mine, love the car but i want to try some other bits.
  20. Ive got to admitt i think the whole thing is dreadfull.. We get this whole lets recycle, be green bollocks thrown down our throats but then with cars it doesnt apply.. The energy required for tooling and materials to make a new car surely arent as envirofriendly as using a perfectly good car..

    At 3 times the price of the Weitec GTs the V3s should be good.. I swear by old V1s... Well i have them now, im collecting a whole load of bits from VW today and over the weekend ill be putting them on...

  25. This isnt for a Corrado but i would llike some opinion on Weitec GT coilies, whos got them, quality, corrosion resistance. I loved my old KWs and i know its very similar gear but at a considerable discount so thoughts please guys?
