  1. Cheers guys, agree that the small details have the big impacts. I had a patch of rust on my speaker grill and it had bugged me for ages... Price, 70 quid, not bad at all i dont think bearing in mind that the handbrake handle alone was 30 notes from the dealers...
  2. Update time.. Having been a very lucky boy and being able to get a as new steering wheel (Cheers Graham) i felt there were other bits that needed sorted.. Ive bought a new gear nob, handbrake handle and have had MJ Interior make me a new shift boot and custom handbrake gaitor, as well as having my speaker grills repainted. The work is brilliant, im over the moon with it so heres some pics... Heres a comparison of the new and old gear nobs and handbrake handles.. Really pleased with the quality of the leather work... And heres one with it all fitted...
  3. No mate, im gonna prepare the engine and have it ready to put in and then hand it over to PSI i think, ive been impressed with all of their work...
  4. Both rims look great.. What spec are those RSs? Im suprised youve had to mod your 288 as im sure OSV used to run 312s under his without a problem...
  5. Your neighbours must think you two are potty.. Like the 8v, really liked having a go in Judiths, definitely an underated car just like the Mk3 GTI with the same power plant..
  6. They look better than what i was expecting but have got to admit the Nothelles are more my cup of tea.. Whats coming next then Adam???
  7. Been a while since ive posted anything up about the Golf so here goes.. The old girl started fine after 4 months of sitting, although looking very sorry for itself, 4 months of dust isnt good. I then managed to run out of petrol in horizontal rain whilst on the way for the MOT. am pleased to say that bar rear pads and a slight emmisions tweak shes went through fine and is now MOT, taxed and insured for another year of motoring... If im honest i was thing of getting rid and was being tempted by something a bit more sensible but why, ive done 12000 miles in it, have had next to nothing go wromng with it (touch wood) and its so much fun. I cant believe the amount of attention it gets, even the MOT man asked me if i wanted to sell it... Managed to make some good progress, new windscreen fitted, new head unit, service, leaking oil pressure switch replaced, broken horn buttons on steering wheel sorted and lastly today a good clean.. Couple of pics... Few jobs on the horizon, must put a new clutch in and valve stem seals are on their way out so thats another task, havent ruled out converting it to a 2.0 or even using the VR from my Corrado when it comes out but i want to keep the car looking standard, well maybe with some G60 steels when the tyres are past their best...
  8. Hyundai Getz for me.. I had a Leon and put in for a service and was given the Getz as a courtsey car and i can honestly say its the worst car ive ever driven, handling, confort, power, quality etc are words that dont figure in its description. To top it off there was a CD in the player and the track was 'im walking on sunshine'... I know i wasnt...
  9. Some nice new toys there mate, nice progress...
  10. Nah just order the glass assembly mate, its the whole thing... I havent got my history folder up here for the part numbers im afraid...
  11. I did the whole thing, the element is inside the glass backing and there is a +ve and -ve connection on the back of the mirror glass that you connect on to. Ive not seen the DDI ones but if the are just stick onto the original items then i cant see the heating element working..
  12. Nice.. I was recently lloking for some interior work doing and i couldnt find any contact info for snappy gaitors...
  13. I just bought a VW one of these recently as the heating element had packed in and the reflecter was starting to peel and they are 50 quid each from the dealers...
  14. Im sure your the same as me Andy and dread letting someone paint bits of your car, always a relief to get a quality job done...
  15. That looks lovely, Glad to see another PSI quality install as they will be tackling mine in the new year hopefully..
  16. Looks nice to me, i thought they were longer than for some reason...
  17. I wasnt trying to start any ill feeling, i know Bens car was of equal quality (suppose personal taste dictates which one people think is best).
  18. I know your into high power which is great but you cant deny that dash install and the work that must have gone into wiring it up properly must have been a challenge and well above most peoples capabilities. Hes obviously fairly good at doing the conversions as hes done quite a few other motors which are prize winners/mag featured..
  19. I looked at this myself but found it better just to have a low miles policy, agreed value etc etc and just use that. I found it was going to get difficult changing the policy every 6 months or so when i wanted to put the car back on the road...
  20. I think it is mate but tbh when ive done the oil on mine i dont bother with it and just whip the cap itself off..
  21. I think the car is the elephants danglies personally, not ideal that its changed hands a few times but that isnt a reflction of its quality. I doubt there are many people on here (if any) who could match its quality bearing in mind Jay did virtually the whole thing himself...
  22. Goldie

    ADZ VR6

Another vote for the rims from me, quite tempted to source a set of these myself...
  23. That looks like mine fitted to a 95 ABV. Yip, standard filter fitted...
  24. Its all good, been away for the summer so no changes really, hope to be at E38 next year work permitting...
