  1. That's a good idea - The warning triangle can go in the boot as well.
  2. Yep, I carry one too. It's in the boot bolted to the panel under the speaker shelf. I'd like to think I'd have enough time to grab it and salvage most of the car, but you never know with fires. They can set in ferociously sometimes and you'd have zero time to do anything other than jump out and dive for cover, A Team style! I carry one in the boot too - makes me think it needs to come inside the cabin.
  3. Sorry to hear about this fella. Sounds like you did exactly the right thing though. Hope the insurance gets sorted quickly and good luck sourcing a replacement - maybe a good time to buy with prices so low?
  4. Very tidy. Paintwork looks really good from here :)
  5. Underneath looks brilliant Chris. When did you get all that done and who did it? Was it very expensive? Powder coated?
  6. Took my 80 year old mum to lunch in the Storm - took quite a while to get her in and out
  7. Gave it a proper old , windows down blast today for the first time in about 5 months after winter garaging. I'm in love again :) Forgotten how great the soundtrack is and was fantastic to feel some proper acceleration compared to my daily (Golf 2.0TDI Blue Motion). Did manage some rubbing once on the driver side arch when hammering it on an undulating road  so have adjusted the KWs a little higher on that side. I think the suspension may have settled a little since I put them on. Without me in the car there was slightly less than 2 fingers gap at the front so have lifted the drivers side a tad to compensate for when I'm in - perhaps the real cause is me adding a few pounds over the winter  Thinking about a chat with DG Autotech about some front suspension refurbishment as its all getting a bit rusty down there (wishbones, wheel bearing housing, arb etc).
  8. Good decision. Will watch this with interest - Sounds like fun times ahead :)

    Roof Rails

You could use sticky tape but tbh they are usually such a tight fit that I don't think its needed

    Roof Rails

Lever carefully up from the rear fixing and then just pull it gently up and out working your way forward. Easy to do.
  11. Or you could get a Storm with air con 8) Don't use mine very much but when its been freshly charged its ultra cold (less than 6c on the coldest setting IIRC)
  12. Looks a good un you've got there - KWs are a good choice 8)
  13. Got mine too! First time I've had a delivery with a picture of my car on the front 8) Looks an excellent, jam packed edition - thanks Jim
  14. Good stuff Jake. Looks low enough. What are your first impressions of the ride quality?
  15. I have greenstuffs on mine and have been very pleased with them but they did go on at the same time as an upgrade to 288s so that may have been a factor  Since then I have also heard good reprts on EBC redstuff pads - concerns about how long they take to become effective when first driving off were overblown from what I've read. That concern put me off at the time but if I was replacing now I'd probably go with reds.
  16. Light spider? I expect they come as an integral part of the heater controls and won't be available seperately ?
  17. Mirror - signal - maneuvre , Tricky stuff reversing up hills, looks like she's got the hang of it allright :)
  18. Mine also has the top 2 slats closed. My own thoery is that the closed slat jobbies were from a batch meant for colder climates? I have an alternative "open" grill I use for long road trips or summer driving as it makes a very definite difference to oil temps.
  19. Not heard that but mine does have SK0002 in the chassis number
  20. Hi Judith, No I don't have that one - don't think it was there when I had some work done. Could do - if anybody has details. Have not come across one in the last 3 years though. I know one of fake Storm - very fast one
  21. :notworthy: Would be interesting to see if you don't mind posting up? We could keep track of it in a thread and ask people to contribute based on cars they know/have seen. Obviously it would have to be solid info rather than just 'a friend of a friend I know down the pub has heard of a Storm with x miles on it'. Will do but need to update the master spreadsheet first. They are all perfectly solid spots though - either at shows, on here, Piston heads, autotrader etc. If I had time to kill, which I never seem to have, I could chart price by year and correlate to miles - another pointless exercise  Might do that as an article for the Sprinter maybe?
  22. I'm keeping a record by registration number, miles, sale price (when I see them come up) and colour. An entirely pointless thing to do (akin to train spotting I suppose :cuckoo: ) but I've started so I'll have to finish  - up to c160 so far or 32% coverage in about 3 years.
  23. I'd been keeping an eye out then saw this and thought why not! Love the idea of a turbo but can't really justify that kind of money for the time being. It's being delivered in the next few days so next step is to have a chat with Vince at Stealth and book the baby in to have the Schrick and Schimmel cams fitted and a map to tie it all together. Can't wait!! Exciting stuff!- let us know how it goes. The cams and re-map will make a big difference that I do know. I too can't really justify the turbo at the moment but I am getting tempted - will probably need a windfall of some sort to make that idea fly though :(
  24. £915 for a Storm on 83K
  25. Nice write up Jim. Good shots as well. Quite thought provoking the red mist musings. I guess there would also be a learning curve effect where you get used to the power and acceleration? I know getting into my VR after a few weeks in the lease car seems like I've got something incredibly powerful then after a few hours it wears off and feels almost normal again. Convoys tend to bring out the worst in me though - wonder what one of those would be like in a VRT
