  1. Andy - if you ever get your hands on my Storm I shall insert a clause that requires you to hang on to it for at least 5 years
  2. That'll be fun to drive :) - I'm envious I'm going down the company car route myself soon to save the C but I can't afford the tax on the Octavia. Probably getting a Golf 1.9 TDI Bluemotion as its just 119gms CO2 and 13% tax. Only 105bhp :( but should be a nice contrast to fire up the C for weekends :)
  3. I'd say build a bigger collection. Nothing wrong with hoarding and besides it looks as if you have plenty of room left in the garden :? Alternatively you could construct/weld up some sort of sculpture from all the bits - a homage of sorts to this stage of your life
  4. Charlie - I'd take that off your hands if its a general offer!
  5. This is on my list of things to get from VW. I think the part number is 3578915411C and say its for a 60amp battery. Be interesting to see a price and (probably depressing!)
  6. Yeah - I don't see how we're going to be able to slip under the radar for much longer without some punishment :| Well ever the optimist I reckon we'll be ok. Of the 20 million odd cars on the roads we pre 2001 reprobates are going to be an increasingly small percentage (less than 5%??) so won't be worth much to the chancellor and on top of that there will be arguements along the lines that pre 2001 car owners are much more likely to be impoverished (how very true for Corrado owners) :?
  7. Have to agree with the sentiments expressed here. He seems to suffer from a serious lack of judgement on these things and looks increasingly out of touch/uncaring which I'm sure is harsh but in politics perception is often the difference between success and failure. Why the hell can't he announce he is suspending the planned fuel duty increase now and appear decisive instead of waiting until October when it will look like he's been forced into it. Somehow he's got to win hearts and minds if he's going to stand any chance of getting re-elected. GB doesn't even drive a car does he? If he did he might have a better understanding of how emotive a topic this is for most ordinary citizens. Of course the real problem is that these tax increases are essential to balancing the books and paying for the increase in public spending and slow down in the economy. He won't say that though. Between a rock and a hard place he is because if he can't raise money here he'll have to look elsewhere or cut public spending both of which are equally unpalatable to most.
  8. I'd have one as well to wind up the missus :)
  9. Great photos - enough for an entire calendar! Rolling shots are superb
  10. I don't, just a Rover Traingle and a home compiled first aid kit. Always wondered why someone would have removed them :? but not fussed really as they are out of sight and out of mind. Got a fire extinguisher under the rear armrest - hope I never need to use that :nono:
  11. She's a beaut, your long distance spot and swift swoop has paid off there - You must have been an Eagle in a previous life :)
  12. To date I have not persuaded by other half to help clean the car :( Its obvious she wants to but remains strangely reticent :? My youngest son is keen but we have not yet reached the point where he can be guaranteed not to drop the sponge on the drive and commence sandpapering the paintwork  Maybe I should get some lace on sponge mits if such things exist  Looking forward to seeing your new pride and joy sometime - are you going to Castle Coombe at the end of the month?
  13. Cracking looking C you've got yourself there. Great colour too.
  14. Looking very good Chris. I know at least one person who would bite ya hand off for that number plate  Exactly how many sets of wheels have you got now :? Can't make my mind up if I like the super Ts or not - probably need to see em in the flesh. BTW those very charts were the ones that made my mind up about the 263s - you have a lot to answer for! Cheers, Vaughan
  15. You must be gutted. I guess it could have been worse but doubt if that is much consolation to you. Best of luck getting it all sorted. When I had my prang last year I felt quite depressed until it had been completely fixed.
  16. Thanks Scarlet. Whatever you do don't wait as long as I did to get lowered! Worth every penny. The KWs are excellent, not harsh or crashy at all and transform handling on corners. Shame I didn't see you yesterday - all went far too quickly in the afternoon watching the racing for a lot of it. Have to catch up at the next Bristol meet.
  17. Looking good fella. Paintwork looks excellent. Bumper damage does'nt look too bad. What's the story behind the fogs and indicators being out?
  18. Jim - Feel for ya but sometimes its better to wait and you'll appreciate it even more when you get it. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that. Seems there is always a regular supply of good VRs coming up fo sale and its fairly certain the right one will come up at the right time when your finances are straight. Then you can enjoy it without the burden of a debt hanging over you. When I was a kid I was always told to save for things I wanted, apart from the mortgage its advice I've followed all my life. Getting this message through to my boys ain't easy but at the moment I have complete control of their savings accounts so the example is there for them. From here it feels like the right decision has been made. Vaughan
  19. Gloucester - can't fault the amount of time and care they took.
  20. Pro Tyre had a good look at it yesterday. Left camber was well out of spec so that's solved the problem (was -0.06 now -1.12 and right -1.18). Slight adjustments to Toe and its now spot on at 0.00 degrees both sides. Good recommendation Andy cos they must have spent about an hour on it and only charged me £34. Got several chufties too from staff and customers while I was there. Now for the cams and re-map :) Invoice folder is out growing its current home :?
  21. They will look fantastic :salute: - had more chufties in the last 3 weeks since I put mine on that in the last 12 months ( lowering probably helped as well) Enjoy :D
  22. GTO bodykit, I reckon ;-) Vaughan's been on about getting one for ages  Don't give me ideas Andy they have a way of festering until the urge becomes irresistable :nono: Got the offending wheel bolt out today (£20 cash in hand at a garage on the way to work) and some better quality replacements in. Good tip from the bloke there who said you should never use copper slip on alloy bolts - well now I know :? Just pinch tightened the new ones so hopefully never have this problem again. Cannot for the life of me get the wheel to arch height even on both sides - within 2mm at the front but the rear is proving more difficult closest I've got is 9mm - must be doing something wrong :cuckoo:
  23. Not all plain sailing today - had a bit more of a fiddle with the front ride height lowering a bit further just to see how that looked and felt and have hit 2 problems :( 1. On a longer drive today I notice a very slight pulling to the left and conscious of needing to hold her straight a bit - could have been the same yesterday tbh but probably so excited I didn't notice :? - guess I need to get it re-aligned etc? 2. Had the wheels off and on so many times I've buggered one of the locking wheel nuts. The key itself is ok and works on other wheels. Hoping this is a just quick trip down to Kwik Fit or somewhere to get it out? Nothing ever simple as you think is it :?
  24. If its any help it was about 6 hrs labour @c£35/hr but that included fitting a new gearbox mount.
