  1. don't feel bad.Just leave it till you have the money. We all have bad months/years :) whats beating mate ? you collecting money for loan sharks? Nah, nothing that fun. Basically, on pheasant and partridge shoots I'm one of the ferrets who move the birds around and get them to fly over the guns. Only really do it to help friends out, as I can't stand the maority of people found on either side of the gun hedge at most shoots. Get £20 - 25 per day, sometimes free food and drink, all the game I want, and It's pretty good exercise fighting through brambles in the rain. At the end of the year they give the beaters a days shooting, which has given me the opportunity to have a go at some of Britains top partridge shooting without the cost (£25ish/bird). A lot of people will not approve of this, and will probably get certain opinions of my character because I'm involved in field sports, therefore I don't tend to mention it a great deal. its an honest buck mate. better than mugging old ladys. Good luck 2 u.
  2. :offtopic1: whats beating mate ? you collecting money for loan sharks?
  3. nice choice. really cheers the car up. the difference between the two pics is like night and day.
  4. i vote red for the green with a splash of red contrast. 8)
  5. good job. well done for doing it in this weather. :)
  6. de-badge was my first mod. I took it off this week and put the standard grill back on. IMO i think it looks alot better now.
  7. I would't of thought that the oil temp sender should affect the oil pressure light. I may be wrong though,i'll have to look at the wiring diagram. The warning light/buzzer only stated coming on when you change the temp sender huh?
  8. also the blue coolant sender. check that it has not gone open cct.
  9. is the MAP hose that goes from the throttle body to the ecu in good shape and still connected etc?
  10. i did this last week. I put the car on axel stands and then took front bumper off. Just made life so much easier when I was draining the system in regards to getting access. No pi$$ing about. I also unbolted the pas pump and tie wrapped it out the way to give access to the screws on the plastic housing where the t'stat lives. No need to touch the charger IMHO. Simple job just about making room for yourself to work.
  11. yes the star shaped one in the middle. Its on my to-do list. lazy..
  12. Sorry to hijack this post but it is relevant. I have removed two engines thus far. The first one was an audi and i took it out with the gearbox attached The second was a mk 3 gti. That one I unbolted from the gearbox and lifted it out that way.I thought this was easier. I didn't put either of these two engines back though. So would people say that in terms of putting gearbox and engine back together its easier to do it outside of the car first, thus its better to take gearbox and engine out together? Cheers.
  13. thats great work... My MS arrived in the post 2day.
  14. yeah, shine a light down the inspection hole and you will see the marks in quite close proximity to each other. one is the timing mark and one is the TDC mark.
  15. As an alternative earlier last year the bearings in my cambelt tensioner on my g60 collapsed and gave a tapping metal on metal noise. At first it was intermittent but then it became more frequent. As soon as I identified where it was coming from I obviously stopped driving it. Have a listen and check that it is not coming from there.
  16. if it is a tooth or so out it will run but will be under powered. I have first hand experience of this. check your timing marks all align as they should while turning the engine over manually by hand.
  17. Nice. :thumbleft: Makes we wish i hadf kept my BBS's on mine. :(
  18. thnks for sharing that. A very good read. :| I was moaning the other day that i have just got 3 points. This makes me look at it a little differently.
  19. Good news! I will be able to use the head from the G so thats not a problem. Would i use the G60 loom of would i need the 2.0 one? Will have to investigate head gaskets etc.. for compression. I assume the charger bracket etc.. should all bolt on ok. you'd use the g60 management/loom if your going to g-larder the engine. There's a few posts about 2litre g60's on here. You may want to peruse them b4 you start to spend any money.
  20. also the mk3 2 litre block is taller than the pg block so you may have clearance issues aswell. For this reason a 9a block would be better iMO.
  21. :( i thought i was seeing things when I read your thread title. I always wonder if the money you will get from selling a much loved rado will make a difference to a person finacial circumstances in the long run. Especially if you think you are likely to get another one down the road. oh well.I guess you know your own mind and circumstances. Just playing devils advocate. I'll put my vulture hat on now.
  22. I like that. I can see why you have fallen for it.
  23. plenty folk on here are running tubo's etc in their daily drivers, and have been doing so for years for as much as can gather anyway. As long as the engine is set up properly and all of the engine components are in good health you shouldn't have any problems at MOT time!?!! At idle the engine is off boost anyway,i.e the turbo won't be spinning.I can't see how it would affect emissions at MOT. Maybe someone else will enlighten us?!!
