  1. :bonk:OK. I've had a few sherbets but WTF ?????????????
  2. If you jack up the car on the drivers side it is possible with a 24" extension to get a socket on the crankshaft bolt. Use another jack or bricks or whatever to support the extension at it's outermost point to keep it stable and not twist down and out of line and with someone standing on the brakes with the car in gear you should be able to undo the bolt. Then working from above and below you can get the pulleys and covers off and have a look at what is happening. Sorry, I'm just in after a poetry night which involved quite a lot of red, not rose. wine, accompanied with some real ales so I'm a bit thingy. If you need more detail drop me a PM and when I've recovered my my ability to think straight I'll try and put words on a computer screen.
  3. Or even better here http://direct.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?10426-Door-handle-repair-kit..........THEY-ARE-NOW-AVAILABLE
  4. I recently had crank pully wobble which turned out to be the key inside the pulley breaking up and allowing the pulley to turn on the crankshaft. Caught it before it did too much damage and replaced the pulley with a new one, and bolt. Whole saga and symptoms here http://direct.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?55045-Fate-tempted-and-it-retaliated
  5. Doesn't matter what you name it officially, it will eventually be fondly called "That F/&*ing Moneypit"
  6. So it's nearly finished then?
  7. And here is a feature on the very car http://ns310753.ovh.net/showthread.php?51861-Corrado-magazine-article-review-thread/page4 Was posted on this forum though the link looks a bit weird.

  9. Try here for specs http://wiki.the-corrado.net/technical_specs_vr6.html Loads of info on forced induction here http://direct.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?17287-The-Forced-Induction-VR6-thread
  10. There is a plastic clip/tab on the housing at the top and round near the back. Pull it down gently with a finger and rotate the housing clockwise I think, its on a kind of bayonet fixing. Get a torch in there and you should see it.

    Thermostats

One on the bottom of the waterpump. Pure b********** to get to, it's actually easier to take the water pump off if you are relacing the stat.
  12. from my fading memory I'm sure if you put the window down fully and remove the rubber along the of of the door you can get enough access to get into the lock bits. There is a flat piece of metal visible which seems to cause this problem. Hook this and pull up or push it down, can't remember which but worth a fiddle to see if it helps. you should also have some access to the door actuator rods. Just be careful taking the weatherstrip off as they are easily damaged. Best of luck.
  13. Can oly hope that was a good omen for you. Fingers crossed.
  14. Prefer smooth myself. As for dents I found that the crease on the door above the strips seemed to get more dings, with or without the strips
  15. Dear Abby, I've never written to you before, but I really need your advice on what could be a crucial decision. I have suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs... phone rings but if I answer, the caller hangs up. My wife has been going out with the girls a lot recently although when I ask their names she always says, "Just some friends from work, you don't know them." I always stay awake to look out for her taxi coming home, but she always walks down the drive. Although I can hear a car driving off, as if she has gotten out of the car round the corner. Why? Maybe she wasn't in a taxi? I once picked her mobile phone up just to see what time it was and she went berserk and screamed that I should never touch her phone again and why was I checking up on her. Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my wife. I think deep down I just didn't want to know the truth, but last night she went out again and I decided to really check on her. I decided I was going to park my Corrado next to the garage and then hide behind it so I could get a good view of the whole street when she came home. It was at that moment, that I noticed that the gap between the tyre and wheel arch was less than I remembered. Could this be the top mounts on the way out? What is the best way to check and does anyone have part numbers. Thanks, Wullie
  16. Had a knock on lock so had a look and found the CV gaitor was split :(. Decided to gamble, stripped and cleaned the joint and put on a new gaitor. The knock's still there but quieter:bonk:. Time for a new CV joint. At least everythings clean and free for when I do it.
  17. I just keep my eyes closed.
  18. Mirror on a stick? I used to use redex as it produces a nice white smoke. Start the engine and dip the end of aone of the small vaccuum hoses into the tin for a second or two and the leak should reveal itself. Alternatively, remove a plug and squirt a drop down the plughole. Might be better to get someone else to start the engine while you stare intently at the suspected location.
  19. That must be a first, using Corrado parts to get another car working. It's usually the other way round. This could be ominous - post number 666
  20. Sounds like a fuse or relay, the relay should be a 19 for earlier versions or 99 for the later. These are on different fuses, may be a fuse box problem, blower is fuse 6 and the wipers fuse 5. Could be a loose connection on the back of the fuse box.

    seatbelt rail?

I think it's the auto seat belt rail they used in the states. The top of the belt moves to the front to allow you in and out of the car and when you switch on the ignition a motor pulls it back and over your shoulder. Saves you the effort of reaching for the buckle, pulling it across you and pushing it into the socket. Leaves your hands free to continue eating your Big Mac!
  22. Looks pathetic, does it actually do anything other that just sit there? Don't like things that just sit there, just sitting, waiting, doing nothing until ....
  23. I'm not too sure about 2.0l, they've got too many electronicy bits, however some basic troubleshooting never hurts. Check the earths around the engine and battery at clean and ight. The next time it throws a tantrum don't just crank it till it starts, check for a spark at the plugs, fuel etc. If you can, stick a known good battery directly into the car and see what happens. Maybe someone with a better knowledge of 2.0 l's will be along to shed a bit more light.
  24. That is absolutely hilarious. Spilled my coffee all over the keyboard and had to get another one to reply to this.
  25. How old is the battery? It sounds as if it's not holding a charge. Does it start with jump leads after it has been lying.
