  1. Line up the timing mark on the flywheel then compare the position of the timing marks on the timing cover and pulley. They should pretty much be the same. If they are out it's probably a good idea to whip the crank pulley off and have a look.
  2. According to one of the supervisors today I drive a Vauxhall Cordoba. Sometimes you just have to keep quiet and walk slowly away.
  3. If you go into advanced settings on the HomeHub, mines a 2, and choose Home network then Devices you can assign a fixed IP address for each laptop. Check that the two of them have different IP's then click in the "Always use this IP address button thingy. This will make sure they don't clash and may, or may not help.
  4. To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine... And those who don't and are always seen with a bottle of water in their hand. As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom , In beer there is freedom , In water there is bacteria. In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 litre of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria Found in faeces. In other words , we are consuming 1 kilo of poo.. However, We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) Because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting. Remember: Water = Poo , Wine = Health. Therefore , it's better to drink wine and talk stupid than to drink water and be full of ****.
  5. Don't know, don't care. I just love driving it.
  6. You do realise that this is William Blake’s poem “And did those feet in ancient time.” set to music and is actually a criticism of what governments and the Industrial Revolution had done England. So much so that he was charged with sedition and treason over it. It is not recognised as a hymn but has been adopted by groups such as trade unions and the Suffragettes before a wider use by political parties and the rugby league The amount of useless information I have stored away amazes me at times.

    Bump Strips

Brasso. Wonderful stuff. Put a layer on, give it a minute and then polish off.
  8. Super coupe, not really marketed, overpriced financial disaster. We love them, VW want to forget them. They were initially omitted from their "timeline". Nuff said.
  9. Pavement pizza comes to mind, only they missed the pavement and got your bonnet. Erm, not quite my cup of tea.
  10. Volkswagen version. Cars over 15 years old. Try and forget they ever existed and make all the parts obsolete. (That way they'll have to buy another car from us.)
  11. And after all that he actually got away! The car was later found abandoned.
  12. I've just changed to Chrome and must admit I was pleasantly surprised at how much faster everything is.
  13. The wind was from behind me, honest. Or it was a tree in the background. I think I'll get a trim.
  14. Forget all your fancy pearls and metallics, plain simple white. Remove the side strips and it's perfect. PS I'm biased
  15. On holiday recently in Spain I saw a sign that said 'English speaking Doctor' - I thought, 'What a good idea, why don't we have them in Britain?' Went around to a friend's house today. His wife was sat there with their new-born baby. She asked if I'd like to wind it. I thought that was a bit harsh so I gave it a dead leg instead. I was at a cash point yesterday when a little old lady asked if I could check her balance, so I pushed her over.
  16. Yup, that was me, so busy tooting and waving at you I forgot to indicate I was turning off. Was on my way up to the new Transport museum and met up with easypops and dalhalvaig.
  17. That was brilliant Alex. Loved it
  18. Back in the dim and distant this used to be a common "cure" and did seem to work, especially on two stroke motor cycles. Another was to use Redex upper cylinder lubricant. Warm the engine and remove the spark plugs, Put about an eggcup full down the plug hole and replace the plugs and leave it for a couple of hours or overnight then remove the plugs again and turn the engine over to blow out any excess. Start it up and the smoke and crap that came out the exhaust was amazing, like a smokescreen. I had a Redex dispenser fitted to an old split screen Morris Minor which had a B series engine with twin 1 1/4" SU's in it. This was a drip fed into the manifold controlled by a vernier on the dash which allowed you to have a continuous adjustable supply. When the "New" M8 opened it was a routine every couple of months to thrash the car down it with the Redex turned up. Fair kept the engine clean.

    Help

Dear Tony, in the Scottish vernacular, "Awa an bile yer heid ya eejit"
  20. So if I just click on an advert link without taking it any further does it help the forum?
  21. Stick it in, switch on and wait for the flames!
  22. I have 2 53 relays in my 1.8 16v. One is for the horn and the other is for the foglights. Possibly not much help for a VR6. It may just be a kind of generic switching relay.
  23. Me:- I'm going to have a look round the car. She:- How much is it going to cost this time?
  24. I use a couple of thicknesses of masking tape on the trim where you lever the screwdriver to give it a bit of protection.

    bloody wipers

Jumping at straws here but from the dim recesses of my memory, is there not a contact in the wiper motor, under the cover plate that controls where the motor stops. Maybe worth a look. Might be totally wrong though.
