    I did this recently as the matrix went pop and destroyed the foam, i used some thick craft foam and some spray on glue, maybe a bit to much glue the smell of it is just going and the big grin i have driving round town. The foam works fine just make sure the flaps can move freely after replacing the foam. Going from what jim has just said when i say thick foam i meant about 4mm which is thicker than the standard stuff

    Dude getting it fixed is cheaper than buying another one plus you know it's done, if it's your beloveded then no expenses should be spared! Price wise gasket and head bolts 130 queen sheets there may be other stuff to be replaced labour is the main thing which I can't comment on but some one will pipe up other wise have a word with your garage.

    All the bushes tend to be sold separately you will notice on the website it instructs you that you need to purchase said amount for any of the bushes so £25 is a good deal for all four, unless your on a bit of a budget and want to just buy one at a time.

    I have looked around for alternative places to get a map done and there ain't to many options problem being you need someone who has mapped a vr6 before, I have even tried dialynx and they were not prepared to touch it as they were not familiar with the engine and they are a vw/audi specialist.

    Not to sure about the map but would of thought a mapping session specific to your car would be best, rather than a generic chip

    If you want them badly give stealth a call, if you go for second hand they are not going to be that much cheaper , one bit of kit that keeps it value.

    I am sceptical because the manifold on the inside has a few big angles that can't be polished out plus the front of it there is a large step to the port connecting to the lower manifold.

    Not wanting to ruin the manifold as it works well as it is but does anyone have any views or experience on porting and polishing the inside of the schrick manifold. I have P+P head and lower intake manifold and sourcing a throttle body too would doing the schrick be worth it? This would make the entire intake system polished and ported.

    Not a happy bunny curbed a wheel on Friday going to a mates wedding reception but could be worse. Now collecting parts for another engine so looking for a strong 2.9 block or one for boring out to 3.0 also wanting a p+p throttle body and wondering if polishing mildly the inside of the schmuck main helps at all but will hold fire as I don't want to ruin it

    My gearbox went two years ago was the drive flange as well going into the box some how it slipped out snapped and a small part ended up in the box made a crunching noise and had punched a hole into part of the inside casing. Hope for the best mate but the chaps I got my second gear box from said they had seen this happen quite a bit and to change the box as there could be bits floating around the gears which could wear them down at a later date.

    I bought a bottle from Sainsbury they were selling it cheap so not many takers, my plan was to use it at a show after cleaning the car before hand, not used it yet so can't comment on it but I ain't willing to use it on a filthy car I just looked at it as an alternative other detailing products you can buy.

    Yep just like a case of Bad AIDS! It annoying because i dont often get sundays off and i was given last sunday off with out asking for it, so now i have to work the next few sundays despite booking it off months ago.
