Very smart indeed, have you sat in them yet to see if you like them? If not i will give them a good home :)

Just got the c back and all is good the gearbox flange was the problem feels a lot smoother now, had to wait a little longer as vw had changed the part numbers and updated the bolts themselves for attaching the drive shaft so the garage had a little trouble getting hold of them. Well done vw! Also had poly bushes put on the front roll bar and have to say it feels a lot more direct and responsive when cornering. ---------- Post added at 6:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 6:20 PM ---------- I also fitted a oil catch tank as part of the crank case breather to the manifold and after two weeks have found no oil in the manifold or throttle body so think that is working to.

Thought I would give a little update to tie this up, turns out the 6 bolts attaching drive shaft to the gearbox were loose and 1 had snapped. Bolts replaced and loctited and the clutch and power delivery feels a lot tighter and responsive. There was no chickens found by the mechanic but a fair few feathers from a pigeon I had hit.

really need a price before anything else, I would also say PayPal is a good idea or card payment to your shop as that would he instant. -
Thanks Jake :) . Worst part is the micra, glad I had taken it to the garage turns out all the bolts to the drive shaft were loose and one was sheared off when fixed we will see if that cures the engine movement I could feel.

Taken the car to the garage to have the gear box and mounts looked at drove the car in and caught the sump on a bolt thats part of the ramps which chucked oil every really wish it was at standard height now and as further punishment i have a nissan micra courtesy car, i hate micra's but one thing i will say is it drives rather smoothly.

Would second that but wouldn't say they are that bad in the wet, seen reviews and have found myself that the grip disappears quite dramatically near The end of there life. -
I always found the standard vr suspension to work better the quicker you go but wallowed alot in the corners and that being the reason i went to coilovers, i have them wound up quite high to negate getting thrown about but still have the firmness when going into corners.

I guess it's worn mounts and really all it takes is little movement to mess things up replaced all the exhaust hangers yesterday to cure a slight knocking and found that is hitting part of the car when The revs go up. Would of thought the car would treat me better considering all the engine love it's getting in the new year.

Found the bolt to the front mount was only hand tight. It would only turn little more but is now tight the clucking has improved but still feels like there is slight movement when engaging the clutch. May get all 3 mounts replaced see if that cures it.

I almost bought one of these as a daily, how are the sills i got put off by the amount of rust this model tends to pick up seen some quite tatty ones. -
The 2.9 engines tend to go for a little more but my view is if I'm putting in another block I want the bores checking or re boring and then require New pistons which is a lot of money and makes any second hand block near worthless, as you can't guarantee its life span considering the labour cost of installing another block it's worth having it done right. So unless you can prove its a good block I wouldn't pay top dollar for it! Just my view so shoot me down if you like.

Good news Andy! I would wait untill next year a couple of shows with some nice weather( you never know) might inspire you to keep it even longer. -
I would of jumped at these if I wasn't in the process of buying a property. If they are still available in a few months time I may give you a shout.

The thoughts there but the tree just doesn't work. To much of the body is covered up and at the wrong angle too..

When easing off the clutch in 1st or second when the clutch engages it feels very sudden with a big clunking sound, not sure but it also seems like there's a little movement in the gearbox mount as I can feel it reverberate through the clutch pedal. The clutch was replaced 2 years ago and the gearbox mount last year. Any ideas?

Even a hint of shill bidding and I walk away, don't understand why eBay hide bidders identity makes it very hard to spot who's doing it.

VR6 Engine - How many miles before a rebuild?
captainredeye replied to Erallus's topic in Engine Bay
Mine needed a new head gasket after just 15k with the first owner but a friend with a vr6 has 230k and no work done, although it's now in storage with a rebuild likely. -
I just replaced the loom going to the instrument cluster as 3-4 of the wire were burnt out and crossed including the earth! I had few strange thing happening because of this! Pull out the dials and check the wiring quite quick to do plus all the problems your having are routed through the dials. ---------- Post added at 8:38 AM ---------- Previous post was at 8:35 AM ---------- Second thought the wipers are not connected, but. A Bad earth can do all sorts of magical things. There is an earth point behind the right hand drivers vent on the dash, clean that up and see what happens.
