She lives!!!!!!!!!!!! Great feeling and I'm chuffed to bits! Started out by topping up the brake fluid and bleeding all the brakes, then had to buy a 20L Jerry can to top up with fuel. Took the fuel pump relay out and cranked a few times to build oil pressure, then put back in and anticipated it running like a bag of spanners but wasn't bad at all. Sounded very tappy until I had a look around and realised I hadn't pushed any of the leads home. Doh! All in and purring away nicely now. ABS light is staying on so I'll connect it up to VCDS tomorrow and scan. Hopefully just a sensor not connected properly or something and not the pump - though I have a spare. Ran up to temp, and PAS fluid & coolant bled. I've had a positive day so leaving it til tomorrow now. A few minor bits & pieces to sort then get it booked in for MOT next weekend. I'm away during the week until 7th August which is a bit of a pain as I'd like to get it out to blow off the cobwebs sooner but hey ho. Can't wait to get it out for a spin! 😁

Sorry pal, all late model Corrados came with ABS as standard which mine is. UK VR6s have a single connector at the reservoir cap. I think the G60s may have a dual one though can't say for certain. Can you not trace it in the wiring diagram in the Bentley manual?

Cheers chaps. Martin, yeah past parts. It came to £166.50 incl VAT & postage back. Not cheap, but lack of any other options forced my hand really.
-
Oooh it's back!!! It's been a long time coming (6 week turnaround) but finished work a day early so fitted already. Gonna fill it with fluid and bleed tomorrow, and need to get some fuel before the first attempt at firing it up! Exciting times! 😁

Sounds like a poor earth or a simple connection problem at the fusebox. There is a sliding rod at the rear that locks all the connectors in place. Probably worth checking that first mate
-
Yeah looking at the bolt heads on the PAS pulley, it looks like it's centred to the outer side if you get what I mean. Flip the pulley round and it may line up.
-
Is the pulley concave or the mounting point offset to one side? I know on the VR6 that if the pulley is the wrong way around, it's off by a few mm and causes the belt to screech.

I've not started to build it yet, but I've got 75mm fence spikes with 8ft posts and sails for a cover over our hot tub. My idea was to be able to remove them when I wanted. I've also got rubber caps with artificial grass glued to them to cover the opening of the spikes when not in use. (They're actually tennis net post covers).

Yep, you're right there. I responded before it was said about being in front of the house. 👍
-
If you go for a shallow roof one lower than 2.5m to the ridge, you won't need it.

AP get good reviews. They're made by KW and are essentially V1, but have an electroplated body rather than stainless like the V1. I've heard mixed reviews on the Gaz. They are damping adjustable though which is a good feature to have. Have you thought about lowering shocks and springs rather than coilovers? With anything lower you'll be compromising comfort, but coilovers tend to be a little more harsh even when extended fully.

No probs, hope you get it sorted.

Ooh, good stuff! I loved it progressing into a car after I had my respray. 👍 Rivet guns are the devil's tool. I've just done my rear bumper heat shield, and had to dismantle it after every rivet went in as the pin stuck in the tool. 😡 Unless you fork out for a really good quality one, they're awful things to use. Keep up the progress though, you'll miss the warm weather or else. (That's what I keep saying to myself anyway!).

Well if you look at the diagrams, the early type is above (5&6) and the later is below (16). I'm sure you can work it out from there.

Here you go mate. Numbers 5 & 6. https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/corrado/cor/1991-76/2/253-76000/#5

Ooh, this has just reminded me I need to sort mine out. This was fitted a few years back and was correct. It was removed due to the last photo and the original put back on (nothing wrong with it, just a little sluggish). This fits the 02A CHN gearbox on the VR6. I can't remember if the original Starter had the longer rod and spindle in all honesty (it was about 5 years ago now), but it fitted without issue.

That's it Cressa. It slots into 33.

If no one can help in the mean time, I'm taking my door card off again later next week so I'll get some photos. I'm sure it's from around that area somewhere.....

I've not researched this in any way tbh. It's a subject that has come up numerous times over the almost 10 years I've been on here so I'm just regurgitating what others have said. It does make sense what you say though. The fact that all engine types, RHD & LHD were run off in sequence as the orders came in, makes it understandable why its so difficult to track them.
-
The VIN numbers weren't sequential for some reason. There is no rhyme or reason for the order they came out in, which is why Storm models are so difficult to confirm.

Thank buddy, house move & renovation took priority which is why it has taken so long. I only had an advisory on rear brake pipes at MOT before I took it off the road as well! As for refitting the rack, just make sure the steering wheel and rack are centralised so the column and spline line up, and raise the subframe up about 2" from the top. You should then be able to manoeuvre the column into the spline with a bit of fiddling, raise the rack another inch and make sure the column is fully home before putting the bolt in. It'll only go on one way as there is a flat part on it, so you should be fine. 👍

The metal tab in the fog light connector often needs pulling in a bit. Its like a springy tab so if there's not enough force on the bulb, it won't make a decent connection and won't work. Daves16v also sells a stainless kit of screws for the fogs & indictors too. 👍
-
Got it, I stand corrected mate. Better double check mine at the weekend then! Lol
-
I don't think that's correct Dox. I'm sure NSF is far right as you look at it. I'm away from home until Friday but I'm sure someone else will confirm. I had it written on a bit of card placed on the scuttle above the pump when I removed all mine. Typically I threw it away a few weeks ago when I fitted them though! Is this your 8v James? Is it the same pump set-up as a VR6 if so?
