  1. The oil pressure rises with revs as the pump is driven by the intermediate shaft. As the oil gets hot it thins as well. Start by changing the oil temp sensors. Sounds like its the low pressure sensor that may be suspect, but they're not too expensive so worth changing both. Also check the wire and spade connector as they corrode and fray over time. Other than that, drop the sump and check the pick up gauze isn't blocked, and the sump baffle plate isn't swinging about blocking it intermittently as the securing clips break off. Other than those and wiring, the only other thing really is the clocks.
  2. Arrived today thanks Chris. Top seller, thanks pal! :thumbleft:
  3. I agree. DVLA are apparently saving £40 Mil by doing this. That coupled with all that extra revenue from the sales throughout the month means they're quids in. Tax won't stop going up though, in fact with monthly DD, I think it'll go up quite a lot in the next few years. People just won't notice it as much due to the fact it's not in one big hit, so won't complain.
  4. The characteristics of the VR are quite low torque below 3.5k rpm, that said I'd still say it's on par with an abf. Being a heavy lump it doesn't have to turn in precision of the others either, but again something doesn't sound right. The fact it has been lowered so much and now has been raised, suggests suspension and alignment setup is probably way out. It's a sad fact that when buying a quite heavily modified car, you really need to know what to look for. Not many do it the right way unfortunately, then flog it on when they realise they've built a dog to an unsuspecting buyer.
  5. The fabric fraying is is pretty much a given tbh. I can't remember if its obsolete from VW, but it was sold by the metre iirc. There are lots of alternatives around so probably worth just having a mooch around for covered fuel line of the correct inner diameter.
  6. Thanks mate, appreciate it. :thumbleft:
  7. Yes please mate. Mine have 'additional' screw holes all over the bloody place.
  8. Michael, I'll have the dash trims and fuse box cover, and also the hose bundle if your still down this way in December? Happy to pay now if you prefer mate. Cheers!
  9. Well I own my cars, get told what hair cut to have, I'm fat and go for a run once a year (told to do that too), I have no tattoos, and don't like Plan B. I must be uber cool! :afro:
  10. Serves them right. Not the time to **** about when the pavements are full of pedestrians. Utter imbeciles with more money than sense.
  11. Ok point taken. I'm a bit clueless when it comes to mapping tbf, having never had it done. I assumed stage 1 would be somewhere in the region of £400.
  12. Oooooh below the belt! No your right, I'm torn though. They're doing a really top job so far, so I don't want to rush them too much. That said, they're dragging arse and I'm desperate for it back now now!
  13. Welcome, hope you find what you need. I'm sure plenty will be willing to help a newbie out in exchange for a few pics so get em up! :thumbleft:
  14. Its ok Matt, I'll just stone your freshly painted car. Good point though, you'd just think people would try a little when advertising. I mean, there is spell check on computers nowadays! And your spellings not so bad anyway, its just your grammar that's atrocious!
  15. I agree, annoys the hell out of me! I understand some people aren't the most literate, but when its so frequent I at the British education system.

    Help needed

Wiggle the key when its turned and not starting. Ignition switch is a common problem and a likely suspect so you'll know if it starts when wiggling. Other than that, as mentioned earths and feeds then starter motor.
  18. Offer made, £40 plus postage?
  19. The standard ones have a bit of a gap at the bottom too if thats what your talking about Ron. It cuts off flat before it gets to the bottom.
  20. Ah bugger, sorry mate. Assumed they were black. Disregard that then. :bonk:
  21. Sorry Chris, can I also have the drivers side dash undertray and fusebox cover please. I'll get payment over straight away if still available. Cheers mate.
  22. Well done on getting to the bottom of it mate. Its a pain in the arse when these simple little jobs take a gazillion times longer than you expect them to!
  23. Sounds like its misfiring. Check all leads are tight on the plugs first, then worth pulling a lead at a time and starting the car to see how it sounds each time. If it sounds the same between a lead being pulled and how its running now, that'll give you an indication if thats where the fault lies. Could well be a duff lead or coil pack.
