  1. I don't think you need the tool for poly bushes mate. Stock ones on the other hand - what a nightmare!
  2. 5 x 100 - 6.5J ET 43 iirc.
  3. I think 205 would be too much stretch on an 8" wheel personally, but with that offset I don't know if you'll have rubbing issues regardless
  4. Fingers crossed for you Rob. Hopefully your screen comes out without a problem. Mine did - Unfortunately as I was hoping for a replacement! but so long as the fitter/remover knows what they're doing it should come out without a problem. Shame you've got to re-address the same areas a few years later, but hopefully that should be it in your ownership mate.
  5. This. I have one and its much better.
  6. That is Fugly though. Granted it'll suit classic Porkas, but I've never been particularly taken with Porsche interiors if I'm honest.

    Protest!

You've got to remember that the SLC wasn't a British model, and this is a British based forum........ Either way, you seem to have got around it so welcome to the forum. Its a shame the CCC is unavailable though as there were some really good guides on there.
  8. I got my replacement springs as promised. Can't praise Demon Tweeks enough for their customer service, and Eibach honored their promise to supply and deliver them FOC as well so kudos to both. Bilstein UK were absolutely diabolical though. If they didn't actually make decent suspension, I'd be posting to high heaven to stay well clear of them! Rude, arrogant, ignorant, and discraceful. Tried to get me to back down by being a bit forceful, aggressive, and bullyish, but picked the wrong person to try that with so the knobber got both barrels and ended up putting the phone down on me. A year on though, and my car is still sat in the garage with the rear axle removed, so aside from the fact I've actually put the springs and dampers together, I haven't attached them to the car yet so can't give any feedback on how they are! Be interested to know others opinions though.
  9. The connectors for the switches are different iirc, but its do-able to convert them if you can get the bits from the loom to connect it from a breaker.
  10. Haha, you laugh, but thats pretty much how it panned out for me! lol. A skateboard, a bike, a go kart, a moped, a car, and a type 22 Frigate!
  11. Just a ratty old frigate for me I'm afraid! Should have an opportunity in November to get it finished hopefully. If not it wont get touched until Easter time next year! :(
  12. Not as much done as I'd hoped, and no pics unfortunately. I've stripped and painted all the rear axle etc metalwork, and finished cleaning up the bottom to the step where the rear seats are. It's not eat your dinner off clean, but pretty good tbh. I've stripped back any underseal where rust had started to creep in back to good metal, treated it and etch primed. I'll get the correct VW underseal to remedy and hopefully be able to feather in the new so it's not too noticeable, then give it a quick pass with a tin of paint to blend it a bit more. I attempted to fit the rear axle bushes so bought a metre long Threaded bar to get em in, but the bar is now in 3 pieces! Got them half way in on each side and the bar sheared both times! I'm praying the local dealer has the tool as I can see no other way around it. Looking to move house too so need it done really, although I'm pretty much away now until November so it's really not ideal! Hopefully have the rear end ready to go on once these bits are sorted!
  13. I bought the RX228s after seeing that pic on Google. Love the look of em!
  14. Only 1 side by the look of it. Worth giving them a ring though as they'll get onto classic parts if available and get you a cheaper price as shipping from Germany will cost you.

  16. Welcome to the forum! Lots of good info here to kee you on the road, and a good source of parts from those of us that like to hoard things! lol If you put a post up in the wanted section with the parts you requirw, I'm sure someone will be able to help, or at least point you in the direction of where they are available from.
  17. Window outer seals, wing mirror and door handle seals will all be needed, especially if it's a windows out job. The list could go on and on tbh. I spent circa 1k on additional items to bring the rest of the exterior up to scratch when I had mine resprayed.
  18. Congrats on the sale mate. Healthy (though realistic and reasonable price asked) and a sale within a week! :thumbleft:
  19. I don't think there is a difference in dimension and shape, but the early ones have a cut out for the brake disk air guides, whereas the later arches don't.
  20. Works for me too! Time to save all my images to the computer before they disappear again!
  21. I used a local company and had about the same amount of parts as above done in a combination of gold and silver passivate. It all cost me £50 for the lot which I didn't think was too bad. I've got another lot of the same amount to do again when I get onto the from end of the car, so thought it was best to just pay like that rather than buy a kit. I doubt I'll need any more doing afterwards.
  22. If the stat is stuck open - which it's designed to do if a failure occurs, you'll see temp rise on the gauge when stationary, and drop whilst cruising. Almost all I've seen sit a touch low, nothing like modern cars which sit steady on 90 all day long. I've changed every part of my cooling system including sensors but except the hoses, and mine still always reads around the 80 mark unless sat in traffic, but provided the fans kick in when they should all is well mate.

    2.8 v's 2.9

Just put the inlet manifold from the 2.9 onto the 2.8 as the plenum is larger so feeds more air in. You'll probably be close to a 2.9 with regard to bhp with that alone by all accounts.
  24. Give VEEDUBBED a shout mate, my bet is that he's most likely got what you need in LHD as he's based in Rome and has plenty of spares.
